With last night's doubleheader we've wrapped up week 1.
mscriv 149 vs. Moyank 140
New yourk Limeys 125 vs. Tangerine Factor 138
Amber Meffs 143 vs. miles01110 124
Multiple Scoregasms 113 vs. Cat In Hellas 105
The Californian 80 vs. TCD's Boozehounds 104
Steve's Cupertino Kids 97 vs. MacNut's Nut Jobs 117
The high scoring team of the week is me (yeah!) with solid outings from Ray Rice (30 points), Reggie Wayne (23 points), and Greg Jennings (21 points).
The "Stud of the Week" is Tom Brady on the Multiple Scoregasms (rdowns) who single handedly scored 47 points on 517 passing yards and four TD's with one INT.
On the League site you will notice I've set up some Trophies that can be earned either on a weekly or a seasonal basis. You will earn either positive or negative points each week based on the trophies that you win and those point totals will be tracked throughout the season. It's just another way to have some fun with our league.
There are a lot of awards and plaudits are being handed out, but I'd like to say a word if I may about my vanquished opponent this week, miles01110.
I know folk like to 'trash talk' and all that, but I'm not the sort to make cheap shots at a defeated rival's expense. So instead as a sporting gesture of respect post-match I'd like to present a Meffs shirt to miles01110, as per soccerball custom.
As such, I've instructed Barry the Kit Man make up a special jersey as a memento for my opponent.

mscriv, you'll have to let me know what size you wear.
No doubt.Put me down for XL, the same size as the whoopin' I plan on laying down at Meff Park.![]()
This week should go a long way in telling us whether Newton just had a good week against a lacking Cardinals D or whether he can stand up to more solid competition. The Packers will definitely bring pressure and their secondary is far superior to the Cards.I'm taking a leap of faith drafting Newton.
Blimey, that mscriv looks to be rebuilding his team a fair bit. One would almost think he had minor concerns going into this weekend's fixture.
Yes, an incredible trade there and that's not even the half of his acquisitions. With his wheeling and dealing he's the OSX league's equivalent of Harry Redknapp.I was thinking the same thing when I saw that trade. He's running scared.

There, I've said it.
He's Harry Redknapp.

I'll tell you this though, I will watch the game with a lot more interest knowing what Newton did last week.

No doubt, Harry. Just don't get too upset if anyone calls you a wheeler dealer. As for you two, well, after this weekend cracking jokes won't be the only thing you'll have in common. A loss to team mscriv will be another bond you can share.![]()
If the video clip in my last post has helped you come to that conclusion you do realise that's not really mscriv in it, don't you?Me thinks you protest too much.![]()
Right then, Week 2. We'll see if mscriv's acts of extreme charity bring the rewards his altruistic nature deserve. A word of warning though we've had a fair bit of rain here and following his pre-match inspection the groundsman tells me the Meff Park pitch is looking a bit muddy...

It might be advisable for the players to wear long studs out there, that surface looks like it might cut up a bit.
EDIT: Oh no! Looking at the other matches there's been an oversight by steviem, who has left a gap in his team! For some reason he's failed to bring in either of his two serviceable wide receivers Ochocinco or Ward into his starting line up! Schoolboy.
EDIT EDIT: Blimey! I was following the scores come in and watching our respective tallies rack up, and things were close for a while there. Obviously there's still one player left to feature that being mscriv's kicker but I think it's pretty safe to say where the victory will be going in this particular match up.
And I think it's also pretty safe to say that I'm rather pleased at the outcome.![]()
Further calamity for poor steviem it seems that Vick suffered a concussion in yesterday's match. Am I right in thinking that he'll only be able to play once he's passed medical tests, or after a set period of time has passed? Trading his back up quarter back might not have been the greatest move...Poor Stevie M...I didn't even notice the match-up until game time and i saw the missing WR. Though, I don't feel bad beating him, if that is the final outcome. I'm still seeing red from my unfortunate defeat last week.
I wouldn't worry about it – I only have one running back. I mean, two show up but only one actually bothers playing. Well, I say one does.I'm glad that my top pick is definitely out for the rest of the season with an ACL tear (J. Charles) and my second pick will have nothing to play for if/when he returns (P. Manning). Oh well, time to forget about this season.
