Guys, just a rehash that my GTT screen had a notice 'Customer Requested Future Delivery'.

I think I realise now that the courier was rebooked because my shipment arrived later than originally predicted by Apple's system. So I reckon my order is gonna be picked up on 1st May (Sat) and I guess it'll get delivered Tue/Wed.

Bank Holiday! Completely forgot about that  Since I work 365 days a year these holiday things can sneak up on me.

So, I can calm down. Even if its close, there's a very good chance customs and the bank holiday are gonna slow everything down. :(

Woot! Finally recieved an email back from Kuehne + Nagel:

Dear Mr. *I LIKE MY PRIVACY*,

the MacBook you ordered was delivered into the Apple logistics centre in GB-Hinckley yesterday evening and will be merged there with the 2nd item. From there the shipment will be handed over to a courier service (UPS, TNT, etc.) for delivery to your home address however this is outside the ownership of Kuehne + Nagel.

So eam why is my Macbook Pro in the UK?
(I'm from the Netherlands and my Apple page states "Merge In Tnst NL Til")

I hate to be so blunt, but I really think that Steve Jobs and Apple are crapping all over us with this "merge in NL" Bulls*hit.
.

I can sympathize with you as my order is also stuck in the merge. However, the only thing we can blame Mr Jobs on is inaccurate information. I'm assuming from the information I've seen is that the 'merge' status is the next step. It does not mention anything in between that and the stage before which looks like holding everything up. For instance, it does not tell you how long its sitting with Chinese customs and excise and then same again at the destination country. From the info I've seen, this can delay things by well over a week. While its going through all the international bureaucracy, your shipping method will still say 'merge in NL (or GB in my case)'. Confusing but a little more accurate info from Apple would be nice though. Also, in the T&Cs somewhere during the initial transaction, I think it says something like your order will be shipped to you within 30 days. So Apple have got themselves covered there.

Sometimes 'free' delivery can be very painful, especially in the case of Apple products!

Mine has been like this since Wednesday..

Current Delivery Status In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule 01 May 2010

Tomorrow is Saturday, Monday is public holiday!!

Where is it?? aaaarrrrrghhhh

Checked on mine and its also been updated to "In Transit to Customer", but the delivery estimate is still the 10th of May.

I panicked until I saw your post, as there is nobody at home to receive the package if it was delivered today! I haven't received any emails or tracking numbers, but I guess there is a good chance that its coming sometime next week rather than the week after. :)

Everyone is getting tracking details before the delivery, right? It would kill me to get a little note put through the door.

Not everyone, sometimes tracking details are added so late at night that the first you know of a delivery is when the courier knocks on the door. For yours and mine though I think Tuesday is most likely day for delivery - courier should pick up the item on 1st May.

Mine is also "In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule", but it used to be Apr 29 2010, but today changed to Apr 30 2010. Not useful at all and Apple won't tell me anything.

ETA is also May 10.

jaredm1: Thanks, I'm going to spend the next few minutes double checking that the neighbours are around, just incase  .... Hopefully Tuesday though.

Shame to think that all those people will be enjoying a bank holiday monday, while I'm at work mumbling to myself, and waiting for the day to be over.

Congratulations! Hope you will enjoy your new beauty:)

BTW: I know this is a bit off topic, but do anyone know what kind of screwdriver you need to swap the harddrive in the new 15"?

From what I can see, you need a very, VERY small philips (+) head to open the case bottom, a slightly larger one to get the HDD out, and then a T9 TORX for the rails. Same as all the older ones.

Taking the battery out, however, needs some weird triangle thing. look on ifixit.com :) I dont think you need to remove the battery to remove the hdd, and you defn dont for the RAM, 'cos I didn't when I put my 8GB of OWC goodness in.

You must be joking!

When I placed my order it said "Ships: 3 to 5 days". If CR-APPLE had told me "within 30 days" I would have told them to go sling their hook....

Its in Section 6.3 of:
http://store.apple.com/Catalog/uk/Images/salespolicies_consumer.html

This may vary depending on your locale.

The time frames are only to give themselves some comfort zone rather to frighten anyone off. Your order should hopefully be way quicker than that bar any dust cloud, air traffic control strikes etc.

This has got to be the biggest joke:
Apple UK T's and C's said:
6.6Certain items may ship by post and cannot be tracked once they have entered the postal system. All other shipments use carrier delivery for maximum security and tracking.

You're right ! (well, wrong actually). What Apple actually says is:

Actual Product build times may take longer than 30 days !!:eek::eek:

I've been waiting almost 3 weeks already now, still no tracking number or information, zilch (like many other people on this 2500+posts, forum thread)

My first impression of Apple? APPLE sucks!

I've never had a product take anywhere near 30 days to build, most of my orders have gone to 'prepared for shipping' within a week. Build time is most definitely not delivery time.

Well, legally speaking, there is no time limit to "may take longer than 30 days to build". Could mean "forever".

Certainly feels like I've been waiting forever...
