Not to worry. ;-)

Many people have two scans, including me.

Woo hoo....its status changed back to IN TRANSIT, and I've got this:

SHANGHAI, CN 24/04/2010 3:00 DEPARTURE SCAN

I believe it's a good sign that it's on the way to Cologne ;)

Now, I shouldn't hope I would get tmr, should I :(

Is your UPS status stuck on EXCEPTION since 5 o'clock this morning? Mine hasn't moved at all. Disgrace, thinking it's been sitting there without any attempt of UPS to get it going.
Unfortunately that's just the way it works. The day is spent delivering packages and picking up new ones, the night is spent shuffling them around and getting them ready for delivery the next day. We can speculate about how they could have run another flight, shoved it in the cargo bay of a passing passenger jet or just put the damn thing in a truck and driven it over to us (a truck out of Cologne at 5am could easily have got to my delivery point before the end of the working day), but that's just not the way it works, they have millions of other packages to deliver, not just ours.

I don't know if the problem yesterday was flights being full or (more likely) the China flight just getting in too late to get everything sorted and onto the planes. As other people's tracking reports have indicated, the onward flights to the UK cut things pretty fine getting packages out to the depots for delivery so they couldn't have held them up much longer. I think the real problem occurred when it stopped in Warsaw for hours on end which made it very late getting to Cologne. I also spotted several other flights coming in at around the same time so I imagine it got pretty hectic over there.

Either way it's dark now so soon the vampire gnomes will be scurrying around loading up planes as fast as they can again before the day breaks and forces them back into their underground lairs :). I do think they are being a bit inflexible w.r.t. Saturday delivery (assuming the parcel is there and they will be running the trucks anyway for people who have paid the considerable premium for Saturday delivery, surely the incremental cost of throwing a couple more on must be pretty low), but I've gotten used to the idea of waiting 2 more days, I'll cope. I could spend the hour driving to the depot and back and trying to extract it, but I don't think it's worth the effort particularly with no guarantee of success.

Just FYI I emailed Apple enquiring about Saturday delivery and they said:

I understand that ordering a new Mac is very exciting and when any unforeseen delay occurs it can be very disappointing.

I regret that UPS at this time do not have the facility to expedite orders as they are currently working under exceptional circumstances to try and deliver orders delayed by air traffic disruptions.

Reading that first quote makes me wonder if they've been monitoring this thread ;).

Finally, in many ways the anticipation of a nice shiny new Mac is one of the best bits. Those poor suckers who got them already are coming down off their highs while for us the best is still to come!

WHo havn't got the scan yet and who got the scan so fare? Just want to see if I'm one of the last guys.

this thing cheers me up:

It's always.. so present.

Thanks, this is very amusing. The second part of the UPS quote is priceless, they are too busy delivering our orders ASAP that they can't deliver them sooner. :D

my apple care shows shipping within 24h but my mbp still shows 7 business days

also i received a email saying due to air traffic disruptions across Europe, my order will be shipped in two separate deliveries:eek:

BTW i ordered on 16th

did anybody get a rescheduled delivery date? i just got one on UPS page: 26/04... so guess saturday is ruled out.

Just to pass the time:

Has anyone see Click (the film)? I could really do with that universal remote right about now; just to go to 3am to see the flight take off and then 8am to go pick it up. Then again the film demonstrates why such power is a bad thing; we end up wasting our time waiting for the next thing rather than enjoying what we have whilst we wait. I'm all for obsessing over the very expensive MBP I bought myself until it gets into my hands, but surely we could be doing something more productive.

As I said. Just to pass the time and give you people something to read and ponder for a few seconds before deciding that its a MBP we're waiting for and it justifies the obsession. (Much like I would do if someone else had posted this).

I just fiddled with the tracking number to see others on the same plane and there are others that have been scanned a full hour after some of the ones I've seen from people on this thread, so it does indeed seem as if the unloading/scanning process takes its time. They are probably in no rush.

Finally mine got scanned too... delivery 26th, Saturday is definately out of the question unless you have some nice persuasion skills down at the local UPS facility...

I've got 3 assignments waiting to get done soon...But I just couldn't concentrate :( as long as I haven't got my MBP delivered, I can't concentrate to do anything productive :( I know it's sad but it's my situation :(

Those who ordered on the 18th and later probably has a bit of a wait ahead of them. There are plenty (including me) who ordered on the 15th and still hasn't had their order shipped yet. Hopefully everything will move a bit more smooth soon so we can all get our MBPs in a reasonable timeframe.

+1 for "KOELN (COLOGNE), DE 04/24/2010 12:02 A.M. IMPORT SCAN"

Hey, comrades; looks like we were on the same plane :) This is where I think our MBPs bid each other adieu. It was nice getting to know you :)
