To be honest, everyone on here should have known what would happen..

I take it that most people are irritated by the absurd shipping information Apple is providing and their ineffective "merge in transit" system. These are not the volcano's fault.

Although you say that you wouldn't mind delays as long as Apple updated its shipping information (which is precisely the point irritated people are making here), the general drive of your post seems to be suggesting that we should 'give Apple a break' because it is 'not their fault.' Your post is a cook job and the implied conclusion is not borne out by logic.

when/where did tracking numbers appear? did you have to call up to get them? did you get an email updating you?
The guy emailed me again with them

They don't work yet, and they ain't appeared on my apple tracking page. But we'll see.

Edit: I now have:

Assigned Carrier: UK DISTRIBUTION CENTER

If I can add something to this, there's also NO INFORMATION whatsoever on Apple's website indicating that ordering extra items will result in an extra week or two delay in delivery ! (We don't even know how long, since none of the NL merge orders have been delivered yet!). Naughty, naughty.

It looks like quite a few "merge in NL" orders are now finally getting tracking numbers... (except me ....)

Unfortunately, no one seems to have received their stuff yet!
Let's hope there aren't any more banana skins out there!

I thought Mario and co were banned from the road for throwing them out of his window (and the turtle shells - which came from where? How evil :D)

This I agree with, they should put a note on their order page to the effect that Merge in Transit is in effect and there will be an extra delay on the order. Even better they could offer an Amazon-style "one shipment" vs. "multiple shipments" option.

I take issue with your statement that it adds "an extra week or two" though. As far as I'm aware the earliest anyone got their MBP was last Friday, it appears that the Merge in Transit orders will start arriving tomorrow. This is three working days of extra delay. I suspect when things are less disrupted with the carrier networks it is closer to 1-2 days.

I totally agree that a day can seem like week when you're waiting for a delivery but some people's reactions seem a little out of proportion...

Hmm I don't have this email. Also ups page states "standard" under service. Does that mean I definitely won't recieve it tomoz?

Hmmm. Looks like I've got a while. Apple rep couldn't find which carrier has my merge order.. But then he also said I'd be able to track it.. So seems fishy. Bunch of retards.

what's Steve Jobs email address?

Just had a right natter with one of the 'helpfull staff' about how an order can be shipped but not given a tracking order.

I'm stucked at the NL Distribution Center...

Can someone with a TNT tracking# tell me if you can track your package with the Apple "Our Delivery Reference Number" (811XXXXXXX) as well?

I never once said give apple a break ;-)
My posts were aimed at the people saying "Damn you Apple - Give me my MBP faster!"...
I was merely saying that the delay in shipping wasnt ENTIRELY their fault...
And I was resounding the annoyance of everyone else that they have been crap at keeping people (myself included) updated...

Last post in this thread as I just had a delivery notice to work... It's sitting there waiting for me in the morning...
Shame I had to leave early, but there you go...

No point, I spoke to some woman who claimed every UK order must go through the distribution centre and those who had UPS tracking numbers from Shanghai were mistaken in their interpretation of the tracking info - yea, clearly.. clueless staff

I have my TNT tracking. You can't do that. Maybe if you phone apple store they give you more info
