No point, I spoke to some woman who claimed every UK order must go through the distribution centre and those who had UPS tracking numbers from Shanghai were mistaken in their interpretation of the tracking info - yea, clearly.. clueless staff

I spoke to a women that said it's going to get delivered on Monday.....well thats all well and good but Monday is a bloody bank holiday.

This is what I've got:

Shipped on: Apr 24, 2010
Estimated Delivery: 30 Apr, 2010 - 03 May, 2010

Not a very good estimate if 01-03 May is the holiday weekend. Pants!

I have my TNT tracking. You can't do that. Maybe if you phone apple store they give you more info

Thanks for the input. I got the NL Delivery Center right after you, so I assumed we were sitting in the same truck. I obviously have to give it a few more days

I was lucky to be home this afternoon, when my macbook pro i7 hires antiglare finally arrived. It was worth the wait! :)

Sent from my MacBook Pro ;-)

See you in another thread... Byebye

oo apple changed my estimated delivery date to tomorrow. It now matches the original delivery date! Nice!

Just to compare to the current experience with Apple, I ordered a bespoke shirt from Paris on 24 April. I received a tracking number for it today (FedEx). The FedEx tracking info shows it as being due for delivery tomorrow.

Now of course this is different to a customised laptop coming from China, but the simplicity of my shirt experience is something I was expecting from Apple. This Merge in Transit c**p with continually changing delivery dates and no 'real' tracking info is shoddy.

2400 posts (and counting) in the "Our MBP stranded in Shangai" thread only serve to reinforce your point.

Still looking forward to receiving my first ever MBP but terribly disappointed by my "Apple experience" so far.
Unfortunately first impressions tend to stick.

Hey,

Sorry to barge in but this thread is probably the best place to ask this...

Are the current shipping delays just for those that are having their laptops combined with some other purchase? If I bought a MBP BTO then would it get shipped to the UK relatively quickly?

Thanks :)

Definitely DO NOT ORDER ANY ACCESSORIES or even APPLECARE

By ordering the MBP ONLY, you will get a proper tracking number and your delivery will be MUCH quicker. Also you will know at all times the location of your order.

Get your accessories in an Apple shop, on the internet, or as a separate order!

Oh OK, I was planning to get the Applecare (with the big student discount), but I can always buy that later right?

Will adding a BTO bigger hard drive cause any problems?

No Problem with ordering a bigger hard drive. You can order Applecare later, of course.

Just DON'T ORDER ANY ACCESSORIES... Sorry - am I repeating myself??

No you can't add the student discounted apple care on afterwards... Sorry!

We're all in the same boat, mate. Stuffed by Apple's "merge in NL" crap...
No info , no nothing until they knock on your door with the parcel.... THEN you get your tracking number!

Be careful, the AppleCare that you get with student discount at the time of purchase of a Mac costs around £50. Buying it later will cost £180.

The reason is that all student Macs come with a 3 year warranty anyway (please confirm with Apple just to be sure). The £50 just upgrades this to full AppleCare.

Interesting. I guess I'll go google what the difference between the warranty and applecare is... presumably it's phone support and makes it more re-sellable.

Sooo, if I did add the Applecare at purchase how much would it slow things down by?

Thanks again all.

Seems to be a bit of a lottery, quite honestly. Nobody's really sure, at least several days delay.

If you're unlucky, like me, and get caught up in a bank holiday weekend (like next weekend) then could be more than a week.

The worst thing though is not getting any info on what's going on, not knowing where your order is, whether in China, Europe , USA, Pakistan...

Got an email today about my "Merge in transit" order (15" CTO), saying that it would be delivered to me in London tomorrow (28th April). My Apple Order Status still says 5th of May, but I'm going to believe the email and expect the MBP to land on my desk tomorrow afternoon. ;)

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to have to add the Applecare now because I want the discount and I don't live anywhere near an apple store (so phone support comes in v. useful if/when things go wrong). I guess I'll just have to wait a bit longer and take up residence in this thread.

Strange. Even though I got a nice email from Apple saying that I would get my laptop tomorrow, still no change on my expected delivery date on the apple website or a tracking number. I really hope that wasn't generic. Will be staying in home all day tomorrow if Apple are to be trusted.
