Surprised that wireless charging is the number one feature! I would have thought it would be the improved/larger display or the improved processor. Also surprised to see only 3% of people planning to get an iPhone SE. Just grabbed a new SE for my mom at Best Buy for $150 off contract. Amazing value for people who want a small phone or best value.

Wow that’s a surprisingly even distribution of demand between 5 different phones.

On another note, I wonder how big the 4” phone slice would be if it had the same specs (and price) as the 8.

What do you do with 256GB of storage? My iPhone 6 w/ 64GB is only 65% full and I could cut it down easily if I needed to. I'm genuinely curious as I can't figure out why people need so much storage.

You must stream everything I guess.

I go the opposite route and sync all my photos via iCloud and then sync music, shows and movies from Plex so I don't have to worry about connection speed when out. This allows me to use only 3GB of data per month.

~1500 for a phone... this is normal..

1,149
199 apple care
~8% tax..

I’m also getting the Apple Wallet case for $99 plus a screen protector.

I think I'll go with the 64. I have the 128 7 plus now and still have plenty of room left. Most of my "stuff" is in iCloud anyway.

Exactly why I’m going for 64GB and went for 64GB on my iPad Pro. iCloud + iOS 11 offloading app feature = smallest storage size for me for now on. As a buyer who’s ALWAYS purchased the highest storage tier on every iOS device, this has truly been a godsend for me.

I can’t figure out why people want to pay monthly to access their files and media when they could have it on their device.

Its not just about access and uploading. You're also creating a second copy of the photos and video. If you lose your device then you can get your pictures back by downloading them again.

I don't. I just have the stuff on there I want to listen to at the time, and not everything in the entire history of my media usage.

Tired of myth on the iPhone X being the premier of the $1000 iPhone.
You know its $999. But seriously..

2017: $999 + sales tax > $1000 (iPhone X 64GB)
2014: $959 + sales tax > $1000 (iPhone 6 plus 128GB)

Look it up.
[doublepost=1506975044][/doublepost]The iPhone X "edge to edge display" is a myth. Developers who write applications "edge to edge" will likely be rejected. Apple wants them to stay in the "safe area". Don't trade-up your "plus" size iPhone thinking you aren't giving up significant screen space.

THIS has been my concern all along. As a lover of the larger Plus phones, I wondered if I was giving up at least "some" of my beloved screen real estate. Hmmmmm

Same, but 64 GB wouldn't even come close to covering it :).

I have an obsession with lossless quality. 1 album can take up 1GB on its own.

Edit: To be clear - the iPhone only recently started to support native FLAC playback with iOS11 but hopefully this helps provide the proper context regarding file sizes.

But it’s not a phone. It’s a pocket computer. If all you want is a phone, there are plenty of very cheap, even free, options. But you (and the rest of us) don’t want a phone. We want a pocket computer that also takes great pictures, provides navigation, entertains us, and allows us to get productive work done. I don’t hear people complaining about the cost of a new MacBook the way they complain about phone prices. And I bet most people use their phones more than their MacBooks.
Then you didn't spend very much time on those very forums right here on MR when the newest MBP"s came out and especially the ones with the TB. The hue and cry was as loud and furious as I have ever seen in all my years here on MR.

The cynic in me says this is the reason the X ain't coming in 128GB. 4K "All teh Things" and offer two tiers of storage: not enough and the one we want you to buy. That's the cynic in me. The idealist in me says the cynic in me is right.:)

24% of the surveyed are opting for 7/7+. I'm getting two 7's so I'm in that group.
That is exactly what it is. Apple has slowly pushed me into the 128GB from a 16GB phone, and they are now trying to push me in the 256GB category...but i'm not gonna budge. A majority of the stuff on my phone I don't really need, it is just there because I have the space available. Then every year Apple adjusts the storage tiers to eliminate the one I need (16, 32 -> 16, 64 -> 32, 128 -> 64, 256)

Duh!

If you're spending top dollar, what's a few more bucks? It's not like you can upgrade it later.

Up until the 7 Plus I got 64 GB iPhone's and still had comfortable plenty of room left.
With the 7 Plus, Apple ditched the 64 GB and made the sizes 32, 128 GB, so I had no choice but to go 128 GB on the 7 Plus.

I'm sitting here with a 128 GB 7 Plus with 29 GB used, so a 64 GB iPhone X will be more than comfortably enough storage for me. If needed I could save a few more GB's off of what I have on my iPhone.

In earlier days, my music was stored on my iPhone, but since getting Apple Music I stream it all now (I have a very generous data allowance), and only download any, when I know I will be in an area where I have no coverage (which is very rare with my mobile network provider)

No better rush then that alarm going off at 2:30am (EST) and setting up my phone, iPad, and Mbp just waiting for it to go live. Run through all the steps 2-3 times so muscle memory is on point. Then start obsessively refreshing all devices at about 5 of 3 praying that all goes smooth. Wife and kids laugh at me. But it is what it is. Out of all the tech and gadgets I have/want, iPhone is the only device I would do this for. Can’t wait!

apple understands marketing and how to market its products more than it understands anything else.
the 2017 product cycle is unprecedented in apple history however, in terms of how many older products at reduced price points are being included in the initial sales strategy.
this can only mean that apple correctly predicted resistance at the price point of the iPhone X.
a case can be made that most iPhone X 64GB purchasers are buying the hype of the X, which means the marketing is successful.

Not sure I understand why some can't accept that someone doesn't need more than 64GB of storage, or that it makes for a less than ideal experience somehow. If you don't need the storage, why pay for it?
Totally agree! I’m currently using 28 of my phones 128GB. I too use iCloud and pay £0.79 per month. I’m definitely ordering the 64 and good luck to all.
