Still no emails at all..pretty worried it didn't hold my reservation and don't have screen shot either to prove just one that says they couldn't process my order since there was already one pending and to follow the emails sent. Which I never got

What if we reserved one and then were able to order another?

At first it said I reserved it, just remember thinking “wtf is this, reserved?”
Continued to try to order one and finally went through with a shipping date of Nov17-24.
I think the reservation is Nov3 though, what should I do?
I got my order confirmation email and then a reservation email a hour later but not the final relink to pay and check out.
This is exactly what happened to me--just don't know what to do--wait it out I guess

Surprising this year, the webpage on the computer was available before the iPhone app, so I ordered my iPhone X 256gb from there right when it went live (somewhere around 2:05 CST). I selected to purchase using the iPhone Upgrade Program (new, no upgrading) and then it asked me for my AT&T credentials. Upon putting in my phone number, etc, it said it could not contact the carrier server and said my phone was "reserved". I had never seen this before, so I freaked out a bit. At that point, the app was working, so I tried ordering from there... only I used a different AT&T phone number since I figured the first one would be tied up with the first order reservation. This one too said it could not contact AT&T servers and gave me a reservation number.

So there I was with TWO reservation numbers for the iPhone Upgrade Program on two different AT&T lines (which really shouldn't matter anyway with the iUP, it only checks to make sure you are an AT&T customer in good standing). At this point, I figured it was pointless trying another order, but I was still curious to see how this reservation worked.

At 4:41am CST, I got e-mails for both reservations, which basically just restated what was said at the time of ordering (that my phone was reserved, that I should receive an e-mail to finish the checkout process, and must do so within 24hrs of receiving that e-mail).

I have yet to receive the second e-mail for either order, so I am stuck in limbo. I can, however, click on the link to check the status and put in my reservation number and phone number. Both of them still show they are active with the same information as before...

However, it's now getting close to noon, and I am getting very anxious that the second e-mails might not come. Also anxious that some of you have said it doesn't allow you to use the payment method you selected at the time of ordering. I do not want to use AT&T Next because I don't want a locked phone, which is why I selected the iUP. I will try to be patient, but if I do not receive the second e-mails some time later today, then I think I'll just be out of luck.

Both of my orders showed Nov 3 ship at the time I got the reservation, so here's hoping it stays that way and lets me complete the order(s). If it works out like that, I will be more than happy with how Apple handled this. If it doesn't, I will feel very burned for staying up late to pre-order.

Well this is even more interesting - Now I have two orders! I ordered at about 2:03 - got the reservation email at about 4:40a. Went through that process but I put in my mac address instead of my other e-mail address and I changed the CC # since they were forcing me to do the Next program. Anyhow - that has now resulted in two orders - both W orders and both say "order in progress".

Yep, just wait it out. If you DO get the followup e-mail and it retains the Nov 3 date, then place that order and cancel the other. Otherwise, at least you know you are good to go with a phone in November. In my case, I tried placing another order the same way after I got the reservation e-mail and it said I couldn't because one was already reserved for me. Now just waiting for that second e-mail, and if I don't get it, I'm totally out of luck for anything soon.

Luckily I got the first email... no second email yet. But I really don’t like this process.

Had I known Apple had this in place, I wouldn’t have been scrambling as much as I did. Because I chose AT&T Next, but since I couldn’t get through I went to Best Buy.

And I’m dreading that email from Best Buy stating that their has been a delay with your order, which is bound to happen. Getting it through Apple is always the best choice and if I had known of this reservation system. I would had sat back and waited.

It appears users has had success.... but I think my reservation will not hold up since I already did my Next program with Best Buy. And I already gotten the 999.99 installment added onto my line.

I myself had this same reservation email happen to me on a iPhone 6s or 7 launch (cant remember). Guys, you WILL receive the second email and it DOES hold your spot in line! I also got my phone on launch day. Hang in there!!! If I recall correctly, I got the second email around 11-12pm central time.

I think the best course of action is to be patient. I trust that I have a phone reserved and that I'll eventually get my second email to complete the purchase. I have zero data or information that says otherwise.

Well, the second email could result in a 2-3 week delay. Which I’m sure it’s not the end of the word, but it’s unbelievable when we all were ready to pay for a 1k phone only to get resistance.

As much as I hate to say this.... the Samsung Note was a smooth process, and I canceled my order. Thinking I’ll be better off just waiting for the X..

I got my reservation email at 5:40am, but I have not gotten the 2nd email yet. Getting a little inpatient for sure but not much I can do but wait at this point. I ordered via the Apple Store app, 256GB Space Grey for AT&T.

I only received the initial reservation email with a number, but not the one to proceed to finishing the process. So, I called Apple and spoke to a sales rep, who confirmed that the reservation emails are real and the delivery date stated on the website is true. However, she also stated that Apple’s servers are extremely slow and I might not receive the email until late afternoon, but it would not affect my delivery date. My code started with a B, and I chose the Apple financing option for an AT&T phone.

Are these reservations mostly with folks who just came off ATT Next?

Maybe this is ATT's way to get Apple back from last year.

Tried an ATT order and said delivery well into December. Was just just seeing, not planning to order.

They’re probably sorting through 15+ million preorders. We’ll definitely get the second email today and it will hold your place in line. I’d be good with anytime in Nov.

I got this as well 2:06 am Central. First Email came at 4:40 am. Then I got the second email (5:15 am) and was able to reserve through app store for IUP 256gb ATT. Ship Date slipped to DEC 15, but Had an option to pick up on 11/3. You know which one i went with. I am currently on ATT Upgrade program, but I am eligible for new phone. I think that might have caused part of this.

I have a W order number as well. Does that mean my order is all set or should I be waiting for a second e-mail from my reservation e-mail? Also, does W mean December or does that mean it just went through? My window says Nov 17-24.
He just told me that a W order means the order is there (don’t think it has anything to do with the date- just a order in the system)- he told me not to worry- the W means order is in

I don’t recall what happen last year?? What did Apple do to AT&T?

There was "talk" that Apple shorted ATT on iPhones due to some disagreement. Not sure if last year or year before. Best I can remember.

Hahahahahahaha! If AT&T was skilled enough to actually pull that off that would be hilarious, be we all know that their whole company is a joke when it comes to anything that involves an activation server.

I got my Silver 256 X on AT&T with no issues as a previous iPhone Upgrade user, but my wife (Formerly AT&T NEXT, but switching to iPhone Upgrade program now) go the 1st 'reservation' email. Still waiting on the second email. :(

I am scheduled to get mine on release day, but by the time I could get to order her iPhone, it was a 2-3 week delay. Hopefully Apple still will honor that so she's not waiting until 2018!

All the Apple Orders start with a "W". All reservations start with a "B". So a W indicates that you have completed all the steps on your side, it is now in Apple's hands. Note: Just because you have an actual Order does not mean there is not a chance that something can still go wrong. Check on the status of your order to make sure that it moves along to "Order in Progress", where it will sit until a couple of before your delivery.

On the Your Orders page, an order status message displays above each of your items. These messages include:
  • Order Placed - We’ve received your order and payment information. Though you can’t make changes to your order right now, you’ll be able to when we start preparing your order.
  • Order in Progress - We have all the information needed to complete your order. As soon as the item is ready, we’ll send you an update and prepare the shipment. You can still make changes to the order at this point.
  • Preparing to Ship - We’re completing some final details before we ship your order. As soon as it ships, we’ll email you the delivery information. At this point, you can no longer make changes to the order.
  • Shipped - You can use the “Track Shipment” button to follow your package online. This information will be available within the first 24 hours of shipment.
  • Delivered - The package has been dropped off at the shipping address specified in your order. If you need to return any part of your order, you can initiate the process online.
  • Shipping to Store - Your item(s) have shipped and are on their way to your Apple Store. We'll send a Pickup Notification email to you when it's ready for pickup. Please wait for the Pickup Notification email before arriving at the Apple Store.
  • Ready for Pickup - Your item is ready at the Apple Store. Remember to bring with you the card you used for payment, or the order number and a valid photo ID.
  • Picked up - Your item has been picked up from the Apple Store.

I was up at 12:01am to order my X but like many, I also got the error message several times and eventually received the message that a phone would be reserved for me to complete the check out later. Not knowing if this would save a place for me in line or not, I kept trying until I finally got though with a delivery date of the 17th to the 24th. While I would have liked to get it on the 3rd (who wouldn't), it wasn't a big deal and went back to sleep.

When I woke up a few hours later, I received two emails with my reservation number to complete my order. So out of curiosity, I went though the steps but because I had eventually placed an order several hours ago, the system would not let me place another order. I also was not able to see what the expected delivery would be with my "reserved" phone. Well, because I wasn't in a hurry to get the new phone, I decided to gamble and cancel my order from my first attempt and reorder using the reservation number in the email. I just waited a few minutes after canceling and the system let me place my order with a delivery date of the 3rd. Awesome!

I did get that "reserved" message fairly early during my original attempt this morning (about 12:07am Pacific) which is why I figured there was a good chance I would at least maintain my allocation or potentially improve it a bit, which is what happened. So if anyone got their "reserved" message early in the order attempt process, you might want to try it but no guarantees of course!

That’s quite petty on AT&T part. Reason being you are only hurting your customers.

I can’t really refute it, AT&T users have been the majority here experiencing problems. Best Buy allowed me to connect to AT&T whereas Apple didn’t.
