Is anyone else in the same boat? Placed another AT&T next order with Apple while waiting for the original reservation confirmation emails?

Yup! I’ve got the 11/3 date, but unable to go with AT&T Next option only gives me Pay in Full.

Contacted Apple via chat yet the representative told me to call as if that would help.

Not sure what’s the hiccup between AT&T and Apple. It’s like there is a disconnect between the two. Well, especially in regards to the iPhone X.

I went through a test process with checking my eligibility and I’m able to go through the steps with an iPhone 8, but it’s a no go with the iPhone X.
 
I am happy to report everything turned out okay for my order. Here are the details of my experience and a few comments/suggestions:

2:04am CST: ORDER PLACED via iPHONE APP - could not finish checkout because of carrier verification, but got a reservation number (took a screenshot). I ordered the iPhone X 256gb AT&T via the iPhone Upgrade Program (new) and it said 11/3 delivery when I ordered it.

2:05am CST: ORDER #2 PLACED via web browser with a different AT&T number, got another reservation instead of being able to check out (same 11/3 delivery when I placed it though)

NOTE: At this point, I was freaking out because I had no idea how this "reservation" system worked. I was hoping it would save my spot in line, but I was doubtful. I started looking for answers, but found nothing concrete, so I decided to go to bed (but really go NO sleep whatsoever).

4:41am CST: Got two e-mails confirming both reservations, but no further information other than to check the status by clicking on the link and putting in my Reservation # and Phone # (both showed up in the system).

NOTE: At this point, I was anxious to get the second e-mail allowing me to place my order, but I was still very skeptical. I was seeing all kinds of anecdotes, but I had some hope from those who said this happened to them before and it worked out ok.

12:49pm CST: Was able to complete the purchase on one of my reservations by going to the reservation status (and it said to continue). Was able to put in my AT&T info again, my info for the Citizen's Bank loan, and it the order went through confirming the 11/3 ship date! Got an e-mail almost immediately showing my order was placed.

NOTE: At this point, I was very much relieved. I knew that I had finally got my order in, and it still shows 11/3 ship date. Still nothing on the other order, but I don't want to create two Citizen's Bank loans, so I will probably just le the other one expire.

1:59pm CST: Got an e-mail confirming that my Citizen's Bank loan was approved, so I should be good to go as long as the ship date doesn't slip or something.

COMMENTS:

1) This whole process would have been more bearable if it were not for all of the unknowns. I did not even know Apple did this, and I have been ordering iPhones for years.

2) It actually makes sense because it both reserves the phone for you in the right order and relieves Apple's (and the carrier and bank servers) at the time of pre-order. Being able to complete the checkout later but still saving your spot in line is actually a win-win, but it was definitely stressful not knowing how it worked or IF it would work out.

3) For those who were not patient and tried ordering with the same number with a different method, I hope it works out for you. It was a gamble either way, so don't feel bad: if you did not try to order a different way and the reservation did not work out, you'd be without a phone for MONTHS. If you did try another method and got a ship later later than the reservation, you should be able to cancel that and free up the reservation checkout process. For those who are stuck in limbo, I feel bad for you.

Same, except if I go through to preorder an iPhone X regularly I'm given the expected 5-6 weeks shipping time AND allows me to use AT&T Next. I really think the upgrade/AT&T next status was cached with the reservation and isn't checking to see if it's changed when proceeding with the reservation.

Hopefully they get that fixed before noon PST tomorrow.
 
In case this helps anybody:

1. Ordered mine last night with 11/3 date and pay in full option. Got reservation message.
2. Got email this morning and went to complete the order, but only given AT&T Next option, which I didn't want.
3. Couldn't get through to Apple sales, so I took a mid day nap.
4. Woke up and tried to complete the order again. This time it came up with pay in full option only and 11/3 delivery date. Completed!

were u able to complete the order? I placed a second order in fear that I wouldn't get these emails, however, I did get the emails but I receive and error when trying to complete my reservation.
I was able to complete it and have the 11/3 delivery. I'm considering if I should cancel the 12/5. Both are for AT&T Next. My card has been charged the $72 in tax, most likely for the 11/3 delivery, so I don't think things will go downhill but you never know.

Also, I didn't wait - as soon as I knew the email was there I followed the link and completed. Maybe I beat the other order through AT&T's queue which is probably on fire at this point from the traffic of last night's pre-order.
 
Continually refreshed the Apple Store on multiple devices beginning at 12:00 PDT. Store was still down on every device for me until 12:11, at which time I saw a 2-3 week delay for the 256GB space gray. Did everything quickly and correctly on my end and was hit with the B reservation screen because they couldn’t contact AT&T.

First confirmation email came 6 hours later, and 12 hours later they let me complete the order. Could still get 2-3 week delivery, but pickup in my area was now totally unavailable.

A little frustrating that it seems like I could have gone through AT&T last night instead of Apple, and easily gotten launch day instead of November 17-24, even 45 minutes later. And it seems like the only difference between what I did and what people who got launch day through Apple did was pure luck of the draw.
 
I had received the reservation upon ordering last night and try and be safe I placed a second order...

fast forward to this morning I received both reservation emails and also had the order confirmed email from the second order.

Every time I try to complete the reservation it does not let it go through just an error and try again later...

I cancelled my second order as some of you suggested and still no luck...

anyone have any idea whats going on?

I tried again just in case and they said I already had an existing reservation pending. Great, so I went to bed last night.

This morning, I have no emails, yet I'm hearing a lot of people have received their reservation emails to complete their orders. I go through the Apple website again to see if I still get that "you have an existing reservation pending" message and its not there. Instead, it now allows me to place an order for 5-6 shipping time! Where did my reservation go?!

I can't reach Apple because they're slammed. I called AT&T and they state they can see an order notification was checked by Apple but cannot see that it has been processed. Now I have no idea if my reservation was cancelled or if they just haven't sent my reservation email yet.
 
I placed an order and got the reservation notice but forgot to write it down or take a screen shot. I still haven’t received any emails. Am I out of luck?

I’m in the same boat. No emails at all, just hoping they come in. Let’s keep each other posted if anything changes.

Yeah, I believe you are correct that it has been cached. I wish I’ve never tired going to Best Buy to order. Should of waited it out... didn’t really understand at all about the reservation system. Now I have to wait additional time in order for AT&T/Apple figure this out.

Please inform me when you get your order in successfully.

The ATT rep said to give it another 24 hours, but I think she was just trying to be nice. The fact we didnt get any email to confirm there is a phone reserve for us is what makes it not likely to get one now.
 
So has anyone NOT gotten any emails ??? I only saw the screen but didn’t screenshot it so I don’t know the reservation number
In the same boat. been all over apple chat and phone support but no bueno. I am beating myself up for not screencapping. STILL no email, and that 24 hr threat is looming

Wow, I'm glad we're both in the same boat so that I'm not the only one, but this really sucks. Now I don't know if I should just place another one or continue to wait. Lets keep each other posted!
 
UPDATE!!

APPLE SAYS ANY PROBLEMS WITH COMPLETING A RESERVATION ARE NORMAL AT THIS TIME AND THEY ALSO SAY THAT PLACING A SECOND ORDER WITH AN INTACT RESERVATION WILL NOT LOSE YOUR SPOT IN LINE!

I received the original email, received the second email letting me know that it was ready to place my order but any attempt to look up the reservation # says "Sorry we could not find your reservation...". I also called Verizon and they confirmed they did see an order for the iphone X requested from apple so I'm not sure what the hell is happening now..

Were you able to get past this error message? I'm seeing the same thing but my carrier is AT&T.
 
What are the shipping dates?

Is it
Nov 3- first batch?
Nov 17-24 (2-3 weeks)- second batch?
Dec 5-11- 3rd batch?

Grrr I am so frustrated. I placed the order at 12:10am PT and was so tired that I didn’t save the reservation number. Still haven’t heard anything.
