I decided to keep my successful order rather than cancelling it and trying to proceed with my reservation in the hope of getting it sooner. I wish I knew if I could do better if I cancelled but I’m traveling and don’t have time to mess with it if it doesn’t go smoothly.

I’m also afraid the reservation order might fail since my phone billing address is different than my att account billing. I’m in the 17-24 category. My reservation order is probably 5 minutes sooner.

So frustrated. I had my iPhone, iPad and MacBook all refreshing and trying to get this done ... started refreshing around 11:58 pm. PST and still no dice for Nov 3rd.

I’m trying to contact Apple to see if i can finish that order and get the earlier spot in line, but can’t get a frickin human being on the phone or even ‘chat’.

yup, try your best to get in touch with a CSR so they can make the switcheroo .. good luck!

Add me to the list of those stuck in this reservation/ATT Next black hole of uncertainty. I confirmed my eligibility is fine by my attempts at getting an iPhone 8, but the iPhone X reservation page still gives me "Not eligible for AT&T Next". I REALLY hope they fix this before the reservation period is up. I partly blame myself for freaking out and doubling up the order, but who knew that canceling and getting that upgrade handshake to work out would be such a headache.

True, I blame myself as well. But I was uninformed of this reservation process.

If I would of known the potential of this happening, I would of stayed composed... No one reported this could happen. I was concerned with missing out getting it by launch that I tried Best Buy, which was a mistake on my part.

Totally. Just a simple extra line of text on the reservation screen like "your place in line and delivery date are reserved" would have prevented me from ordering from AT&T and again via Apple in a desperate attempt to get a phone within a few weeks of launch.

So i got the email telling me I can complete my order, i tap the link enter my res #, start going through the process and then i get a popup that says “Were unable to complete your order online. The apple online store uses your ATT billing address as a shipping address and cannot ship to a PO box.” My shipping is different than my billing, my shipping is correct in the online store, but the store is pulling the wrong address from ATT. after i tap ok i am left with nothing in my bag and the process repeats. Tap email link, etc. on the phone with apple now and best solution seems to be change billing address so far.


Update! I changed my billing address with ATT. Still getting the same PO box error and loop a few hours later. Talked with someone on the sales team and she said to just keep trying periodically. Asked if Id still be able to do in store pickup on the 3rd when i finally was able to complete and she said yes, though i won’t believe it till it happens.

Also was talking with someone through chat and they said to cancel the reservation and make a new one which is obviously a no-go given that ill lose my spot in line.
 
I got this email and asked for in-store pick up at the local Apple Store with 11/3 date. Now on my order comes up to complete it tells me in-store pick up is not available and I have to wait until November 17-24

Yeah so it seems like people that selected pickup in store got hosed. Same thing happened to me.

Exactly. I was able to get in the App around :08.. message came in :10. But I got the darn Reservation Email 2 hours later.

Now, if Apple sent me an email a couple minutes after that message came.. That would of been perfect, but 2 hours later... SMH

No dice. They told me that my 2nd order canceled the first...

My question: Then why did I receive an email minutes ago referencing the first order??

Apple is slowly becoming Microsoft...

I was in the same situation but I did not speak with anyone at Apple and just canceled my order and re-ordered with the reserved number. My reservation did not get canceled and I was able to go from 17th to 24th delivery to Nov 3rd.

So hows this for a sad story. I was up and and ready 20mins before the preorder started and once it did I was able to get a phone and date of pickup for November 3. I had all of the required info setup and verified to enroll in the Apple Upgrade Plan and right as I hit submit the App store app crashed on my phone. So I tried opening the app again and got the dreaded wait message stating the app store was being updated. So kept closing the app and opening till I got back in and this time around I was at the 2-3 weeks which ok that's to bad but Apple couldn't contact ATT so I got a reservation number that I didn't screen shot. So not being happy with that I try again and this time I get all the way through the process with a 2-3week wait so I'm still not to mad. Now I wake up this morning to an email saying they couldn't process my information and that I needed to redo the order again. So here I am with no email for my reservation and another order that did go through but now I have to wait 5-6 weeks. This is by far the worst upgrade I've ever done with Apple and it will be the first time I don't get my phone on launch day. I could go to Best Buy and get one by Nov 15 but they are charing 100 more for the same phone and will not price match even if I pay in full. Hopefully the phone comes earlier than the 5-6 week wait. Crossing my fingers.

Not me lol. Apple said its likely been lost :-/ To think, I cancelled my verizon pre-order for the 3rd cause of the reservation email lol. Now I'm not getting it till the 22nd =P

I have not and I'm getting the same message. Just chatted with Apple Support a little bit ago and they said that this has been an ongoing issue all day, that they'd reopen the ticket to get the issue resolved and for me to try again in an hour. They reassured me I still have a reservation but I don't believe them. Oh and of course they said "Sorry for the issue."
 
For those with alternate orders with a potential later date:

If your plan has more than one eligible line that can be upgraded:

1. Log into reservation link from 2nd email using reservation number and phone number of the line you requested and are now double parked on.

2. That will take you to a landing page with the phone number prefilled in asking for zip and last 4 of social. CHANGE the phone number to you eligible 2nd device.

3. Book the phone there. Even if you don't intend to upgrade that line. Once you have phone in hand, you can straighten out what phone goes where.

4. Don't cancel either order until you have a phone in hand.

This worked for me earlier. It allowed me to keep my 11/3 phone on my line and move the reservation to my wife's line to get her an 11/3 phone as well.

That seems like a gamble. I'm scared to cancel my existing order of Nov 17-24...

Ok... I did this and it worked, however, even my reserved phone must not have made the first 11/3 batch! haha.
Now I have 2 coming on 11/17-24... At least now I have better odds that one will arrive sooner than the other.

Same situation for me. I didn’t really know what that reserved meant. I got it 2 hours later too. By then I had already ordered from att and my next upgrade was finished. No biggie though. I messed that up with the 30 month option so was stuck paying that phone off too inorder to upgrade next year.
 
I had quite the experience with this today as well. I went to order at 3:02am est and got the reservation prompt. I then finally received said email allowing me to continue. I proceed to order and it does not allow att next upgrade payment nor in store pickup. I called Apple, and they said I wasn’t next upgrade eligible and would have to pay full price to upgrade. I said that’s funny I can request one on Apple.com and it will go right through via att next upgrade. Customer service basically said “too bad”. I could tell they probably had quite a few calls at this point. Luckily I had some gift cards from my birthday to use so I bit the bullet because I still had the coveted November 3rd delivery. Only now it must be delivered to my home. Guess I’m taking off work Friday. But wow not what I imagined occurring since 3:02am this morning. Good luck everyone!!
 
Hoping someone can help me out about the reservations process. I tried to order from apple with in store pick up Nov 3, got the reservation message but then the site crashed and couldn't copy the number down or see any details. Went to ATT ordered without issue for Nov 3 delivery.

Today I get the reservation email that must be completed within 24hrs. How does the process work once you click the link? I don't want to jeopardize my ATT order but would prefer to order from Apple if other factors are equal. Thanks for any info!
 
I called Apple, and they said I wasn’t next upgrade eligible and would have to pay full price to upgrade. I said that’s funny I can request one on Apple.com and it will go right through via att next upgrade. Customer service basically said “too bad”.

Wow! Makes me kind of skeptical of my situation being fixed. I’m unable to a Next upgrade and if Customer Service isn’t helping to fix this issue. I’m going to have to pay full price which wasn’t my intended purpose to begin with.

I’ve heard on forums that waiting could help reset the reservation process and allow me to have the Next option. I’m hoping this would be the case.

I hope that’s true. I couldn’t wait since I’m traveling tomorrow. I went to Apple store after work also and they told me my issue was very common today and they can’t do anything about it.

Once you click the link you need to put in your reservation number with your phone number in the next box. Then proceed with completing the order.

Same thing happened to me. Once you click to finish order. You see your delivery date and since I’m assuming you used your Next option when you ordered from AT&T you only get option to pay full price. I went ahead and paid full price. I already had 2 orders from AT&T on both of my lines via next.
