For the people who couldn't book via Apple this morning because Apple couldn't communicate with the carriers (because everyone was slammed), Apple gave a reservation number to save your place line.

They sent 2 emails.

First titled, "Your Iphone has been reserved," and 2nd email titled, "Important information about your IPhone."

The first email gave you your reservation number and the 2nd notified you that you could try again to order your phone with the same place in line as this morning.

I filled in my reservation information but it says "We’re sorry. We can’t find your reservation. Please verify your information and try again."
 
So i got the email telling me I can complete my order, i tap the link enter my res #, start going through the process and then i get a popup that says “Were unable to complete your order online. The apple online store uses your ATT billing address as a shipping address and cannot ship to a PO box.” My shipping is different than my billing, my shipping is correct in the online store, but the store is pulling the wrong address from ATT. after i tap ok i am left with nothing in my bag and the process repeats. Tap email link, etc. on the phone with apple now and best solution seems to be change billing address so far.

Update! I changed my billing address with ATT. Still getting the same PO box error and loop a few hours later. Talked with someone on the sales team and she said to just keep trying periodically. Asked if Id still be able to do in store pickup on the 3rd when i finally was able to complete and she said yes, though i won’t believe it till it happens.

Also was talking with someone through chat and they said to cancel the reservation and make a new one which is obviously a no-go given that ill lose my spot in line.

Alright. Got off the phone for the third time with Apple. Now I'm being told two conflicting things - 1, that I should wait and keep trying and 2 that because I changed my ATT billing address, I'll have to start the process over and void my reservation.

Super annoying given that Apple are the ones who told me to change the address! Theres no way they can update or change the reservation supposedly.

So, here's the series of errors that lead me here. 1) Apple + ATT cant communicate. 2) I chose in store pickup, which is no longer available after the reservation process - so its defaulting to shipping the phone no matter what. 3) They can't ship to a PO box. 4) Changing my ATT address after the fact has no effect on the reservation, and since the address at the time was a PO box, the phone can't be shipped, period. 5) The reservation once made is set in stone and unchangeable.

So now I wait until noon tomorrow, trying to complete my order most likely in vain. When I am ultimately unable to, I get to place an order at the back of the queue and/or hope I'm able to get in line early enough thursday night to get a phone in store. Fantastic experience. Customer Sat like crazy.

I'm in the exact same situation. I changed my address with AT&T today and have had no luck in completing my order with the reservation link due to the PO Box issue. Are you going to change your address with AT&T back to the PO box? or wait and see? What do you think is the best option? I've ordered a silver 64gb X from Best Buy for a $100 premium just in case my order never goes through.
 
You could also buy it outright. Once received. Go to Apple and see if you can return it only to purchase it through AT&T Next. I’m not sure if they would consider it preowned.

I’ve been following the thread and your comments and what you did echo my situation. Started process through Apple.com, I panicked when it wasn’t going through and placed order through bestbuy.
I then find out via email I can complete order via reservation email. So I attempted to do this, but do to the att next handshake issue, I was left with only the full price option.
I then talked with att rep and they explained canceling my B.B. order would free up my phone to get processed through Apple reservation. Which saved my place in line with a nov 3 ship date.
So now I am trying to figure out to keep this order and Accept losing att next and paying in full price.
Or
I am going to try and contact att in a day or so about how my att next was no longer an option (most likely due to previous B.B. order) when confirming Apple.com order for nov 3rd delivery.
I am wondering if att would be able to adjust my phone line and revert it to next option once system issues are resolved, otherwise, I could always return or sell.

Like you said previously, it would have been nice to know that a reservation would save your place in line, and thus not panicked and order from B.B. thinking I was out of luck with Apple order.

I hope things work out for you and hoping there is some understanding from att regarding losing next option and getting it somehow restored.

Hard to stay optimistic, when you did everything right and Apple just throws you out and says see you in December, if you’re lucky.
 
Yeah so it seems like people that selected pickup in store got hosed. Same thing happened to me.

Same thing happened to me. Once you click to finish order. You see your delivery date and since I’m assuming you used your Next option when you ordered from AT&T you only get option to pay full price. I went ahead and paid full price. I already had 2 orders from AT&T on both of my lines via next.

Thanks for mentioning this. My first attempt at in-store pickup for Nov 3 yielded this reservation message and later an email. My second attempt went through cleanly, but I was wondering if the reservation would've held a Nov 3 in-store unit. Glad that I went with my gut and gave it a second try.

Im not going to change anything, just gonna keep trying till the clock runs out. They cant ship to a PO box whatsoever sooooo. **** out of luck.

Guys, I just received my reservation number this morning. It’s letting me go through the ordering process but when I reach the shipping part, it told me they can’t ship at a PO Box and I have to choose the store pickup option. However, the store pickup is all unavailable so it’s not letting me through. Apple support at both chat and phone call are unavailable at this time. How do I get through this? Anybody with similar issues?

Same thing happened to me. I have not found a solution.

As soon as that happened, I checked my status and it said I would be able to pick up my phone at the Apple Store or have it shipped to my home. Said to expect a confirmation email. I went to bed and no email ever came. I was on the phone this morning to Apple, they blamed AT&T. Then I called AT&T and they - naturally - have no record of an order. I have no idea what happens next but my order will probably vanish and both of them will blame the other.

I’m having the same error now too. It was at least showing full price before.

I got the Pending Reservation email, clicked on it and had to make a choice between two ATT purchase plans- despite paying outright for the phone when I ordered it at 3:04 am- so I picked one of the plans because it appeared there was no other choice. Now, I have 2 phones on order with different order numbers. The original order is Preparing for Shipment and the second order is Pending. Both have 11/3 delivery dates I don’t really want 2 phones. Should I simply wait until they’re both delivered and just return one? I’m concerned that if I cancel one outright now, that I’ll end up getting nothing.
 
Guys it’s been known now that att customers got screwed due to the carrier verification process. Somebody dropped the ball and I’m gonna make em pay for it!!!!

Apple and att need to get their act together
 
My first reservation would only let me pay by ATT Next, which was never any of my choices in Favorites. Then I tried it about 10 hours later, and it is offering me the IUP payment. When this happened during the launch I just kept trying to order which I was able to do within 2 minutes, so I won't even need the reservation phone. But its weird how they are choosing your payment method for you.

If you cancel one order it won’t effect the other. Cancel the pending order and leave the preparing for shipment alone.

I'm in the same situation if it makes you feel any better. Very upsetting and at this point there is probably no reservation for us

I currently wanted 1 phone on 11/3. I now have 3 reserved, two for 11/3 and one shortly after.

We decided after the fact to keep both 11/3 phones for me and wife and our local carrier store suggested we keep all 3 phones in queue in case there's a problem and besides, they'd be more than happy to put one of them back into their physical inventory.

AND I don't feel the least bit bad about it. I didn't create this circus; it's not my rodeo. 'This kind of crap' is the natural outcome of this kind of process.

Hate the game, not the player.

I'm in exactly the same position - ordered paying full price, got the reservation e-mail that would only let me do the ATT purchase plan so I went through that process, now I have two reservations with two different W numbers - and they are going to two different addresses, one at work and one at home.

Both now say "preparing for shipping" - so I'm not cancelling either one - too afraid it will mess up the whole process. If I end up with two I can just return one. Seems like a bug in their system.

Yes, they are not giving me any options.

Which I can’t understand why. I would like for them to give me AT&T Next option. I wonder is it going by my favorites to determine which choice I’ll have to complete my purchase.
