Grrr I am so frustrated. I placed the order at 12:10am PT and was so tired that I didn’t save the reservation number. Still haven’t heard anything.
Finally got the email to complete my order. Already placed an order with AT&T next. Do I cancel it and place the order with apple?
 
Just got email to complete order...since shipping is a full two weeks earlier than second order I placed I canceled order (second one). Delivery now November 20 instead of December 5.

I too just received a late ass email from apple..completed order; eta 2-3 weeks...had already written it off.

Canceled wife's line I pre-ordered through Apple and reordered on ATT site 3 hours after launch for a better delivery date... she'll still get hers before mine...neither are launch day, but both are better than 5-6 weeks.

They had better do this better next iPhone introduction, this was brand new and just because the carrier what’s their hands in your pockets.

You people are not alone as their is a huge thread about this very subject! Apple and ATT lost some friends over this for sure.

I have my eyes set on the Note 8... I was ready to upgrade to the iPhone X, but with all these shortages and scalpers looking to prey on those who missed out... kind of skeptical if I’ll be able to get it anytime soon.
 
This was new this year and hopefully it will not happen again.
I asked them if the reservation process was new since this was my first time seeing it, the Apple agent said it was in place 2 years ago. So that’s from the 6s plus. Hmmm I’ve never seen that. That reservation process really screwed everybody over. This is the first non Apple release day for me. And it’s the one that is special. Really pisses me off.

It could be this was all done at the time of the order and this year ATT chose to not buy the extra server time for this purpose. It is a bummer for sure and hopefully will change before next year. It ATT was doing it for the last two years they must have been handling Apple’s requests in real time.

New? Someone on the forum told me they did this last year with the iPhone 7/Plus.

If they had carrier issues... don’t open up preorders just yet. Give it some time to get the servers together, if anything... they should let carrier website do preorders first.

With all this race to preorder exactly at 12:01 PT... just creates madness and chaos. I suppose they lost a crazy amount in the reservation process.

I did not see this last year so if ATT was doing this then they must have been letting Apple in to verify in real time where they were not this year. I was lucky and could not get through on the app, even after 5 minutes, so I moved to the desktop placed my orde on the Apple website and got my confirmation in 20 minutes. I still consider myself lucky!

Well, I went to Best Buy after I couldn’t get my order in. And I had a 11/3 pick up date too, but didn’t really trust Best Buy to delivery on that date.

Learned of this Reservation System and when my confirmation came in... decided to cancel my Best Buy order since I did it under the Next Program (which was a huge mistake on my part). It eventually gave me my eligibility back.

But the reservation system didn’t read my eligibility, just gave me the option to pay in full... which wasn’t my intended purpose.
 
Fortunately, the reservation process worked for me and had for others as well. And unfortunately for some it didn't work at all. They are never going to be able to make everyone happy. They can only try to put things in place to help out. It is all luck when so many people are trying to get online at the same time.
 
6s plus and 7 plus was a breeze those years, never had an issue not the reservation system. It’s this X fiasco that is pissing me off. I told the att agent that I was pissed that att caused me to lose my spot due to failed error verification. And he said it wasn’t a huge sales etc etc and it was basically overloaded. I told him about the server logistics too that they could’ve prepped or setup more servers to accommodate the demands but he really was in a tough spot because it’s not his fault.
 
finally got the long awaited reservation email at 12pm Sunday. Placed and order and it says November 20-27 delivery which is not bad but not as good as the initial November 3 date I had. Now I wonder if, and hope that maybe this delivery date will get better somehow due to apple unnder promising. Not sure what is the likelihood

Welcome to the club of being kicked out of 11/3 and losing it for a later date. That’s what I called FRAUDULENT

The reservation system has been in place for 3 years I think?

I remember getting reservation links when the 6 came out and the 6 Plus was in very high demand but the ordering was real slow.

If by a miracle you find a device on launch day, is it possible to cancel your order and get it then? Specifically if you're on att next plan

I don't think so. Your existing order uses up your at&t next eligibility, so you'd have to cancel the online order, wait for next eligibility to reset, then buy in-store. Who knows how long it will take to reset or even if at&t's servers will be working.

I still have not gotten an email. I called Apple Saturday evening and after 10 minutes of the rep 'looking for a resource' he came back to advise me there was absolutely nothing they can do. They refused to bump up the ship date so 12/11 - 12/18 stands. The message I got at ordering was regarding systems being under high volume and I would be contacted within 8 hours (on the IUP part of my order as I was enrolling first time). Two hours or so later I got this email:

Total BS! When I placed the new order I used THE EXACT SAME INFORMATION and it went right through. I feel like Apple singled me out. The rep wouldn't take my order number or asked to see the email to validate my claim. No reservation. No nothing. Except to get to the back of the line. :(

With the iPhone X in such a huge demand... Going to be difficult to presuade Apple to take your case seriously. Obviously, they would like to keep you happy... Apple would like to keep everyone happy.

But with so many in pursuit to have the device... And how Apple implement this preorder process, going to have some errors and potentially missed opportunities. I feel for you.. but with this mess of my preorder, I just picked up the Note8 for 200 off the retail price.

Who knows, I'll probably attempt to get the X... But I'll wait until the dust settles.

I think it's the universe teaching me a lesson in patience and to be a more positive person. I posted some ramblings when the Equifax compromise was revealed and my concern for pre-ordering iPhone X and how I wanted to freeze my credit\super worried about it in regard to enrolling in IUP. I was frazzled I couldn't find a way to pre-enroll in IUP immediately as Apple had not developed a mechanism to do it (but they had a system in place for existing IUP users). The negativity inside told me it wouldn't pan out with a preorder and BOOM that's exactly what happened; and I even had a release-day pre-order w/ store pickup in the bag, at no fault of my own the universe decided I didn't need the iPhone on release day and told me two hours after trying to go back to bed excited\nervous; only to find the "order again please email". Divine intervention.
