I was really hoping for the usual nebulous "X" package but I'll take it anyway! I just can't decide if I want to just upgrade or buy a box set.

This might also be of interest. At the bottom of the Snow Leopard "New Technology" website, this is written in the footnotes:

All system applications except DVD Player, Front Row, Grapher, and iTunes have been rewritten in 64-bit.

I'm expecting iTunes 9 to be 64-bit and released in early September, along with Front Row. DVD Player and Grapher are applications that I can see being phased out entirely by 10.7, with the release of BluRay and better graphing software from 3rd-party developers.

Its the package after all. It helps draw attention.

when we ditched Target Brand for Up & Up, a lot of people seem to be buying more Up & up then they did with Target brand. The packaging attracts people.
I have to admit, your way of putting it is logical too.

I personally could care less about the packaging. The OS is what I concern myself with and how it has evolved.

Then why did you respond?

People people, please, pay attention to the topic title.

Sooooo I guess the marble interface does not exist... sad :(

Anyone who mentions 'marble interface' again needs to be sentence to death using the most inhumane form of punishment possible.

This topic has been covered so many times it isn't funny. There is no marble interface, there never has and never will be one.

I'm calling fake on this one guys... Sorry, but I know a thing or two about design and marketing, and this is just too inconsistent for Apple. One thing we all know is that Apple spares no expense towards design. Steve Jobs knows that how you market a product is extremely valuable in ensuring it has shelf value. The product has to stand out, but also look like something they've seen before in ads and whatnot. Look at http://www.apple.com/macosx/ and see how they've marketed snow leopard thus far. Notice the big front and center X... Apple knows "X" is the brand they want people to recognize, and people do. They aren't going to change that any time soon. Why in the world would apple all of the sudden change the packaging to something completely different than the keynotes/websites/ads all reflect. They wont. It would be asinine. Granted, if I'm wrong, I guess I'll just lose a lot of faith in Apple's design team.

Hmm... doesn't look like Apple to me. They wouldn't move away from the sized box, even with their green movement. It'd then look too cheap.

I did hold it down and still says nothing. I have a Core 2 Duo 2.4
It should support 64-Bit.

After you've booted up with "64", open terminal and type in
Code:
uname -a
if it says x86_64 anywhere in there, you're in 64-bit mode.

Agreed. I can't believe there is an eight page (and going) thread about a box cover.

You're missing the point. If this is the real packaging, then it's likely that 10A432 is the final build of Snow Leopard.
