Physical Mockup of 'iPhone 5' with Tapered Design

maybe it wasn't iphone '5' cases that was leaked, just revised ipod touches? :rolleyes:
whatever the name, or the design, i am almost certain that i will buy it to replace my rapidly aging 3G. :eek:
PS: Android is not my cup of tea. Neither is WP7

"Retina" is a marketing term that I think some people are getting a little too rigid about. Marketing terms have do real definition.

And Apple usually doesn't get hung up about specs like 300 ppi.

Here's how Apple is going to look at it: does a 4" display @ 960x640 look better than a 3.5" display @ 960x640?

(not that that's the only criteria they would look at when deciding whether to go to 4" or not. They are going to look at the overall user experience... size of device, battery life, etc. I'm just saying "Retina" is not going to come into it.)

Also, it's not like Apple can't boost the resolution without "screwing the developers".

They could boost resolution to keep a 4" screen at the same ppi as a 3.5" screen. Then, legacy apps could run at native resolution, but inset to a 3.5" area of the larger screen. New apps could take advantage of the full 4", while legacy apps run with at 3.5" with a virtual bezel. No one gets screwed.

That design, it needs black plastic somewhere like iPad 3Gs for better reception doesn't it?
or the whole aluminum back is the new antenna?
 
Wow, I know it's only a mock up, but if the next iphone looks anything like it, then it's a ridiculous copy of the SGS2. Hope Sammy blocks the sale of this copycat and protects it's IP. That is what all the lawsuits are about right? Protecting one's IP? Oh wait, does Apple also have a patent on protecting IPs?
 
iP4 design is inferior

I've got an iPod Touch 4th gen and I love the way it slips into my tight jeans pockets.

I used my boyfriends IP4 for a few weeks and it just didn't feel right in my pocket- those boxy edges are definately not cool. The only reason it's boxy is so the phone could have a glass back.

Not sure about a tapered design though. I think the 4th Gen iPod Touch style with a 4" screen would be the perfect phone.

If the tapering isn't too drastic- I will buy it if this is what is released. I won't buy a "4S" because upgraded internals don't matter to me too much- apple products are about design and form.

or release a 3G iPod touch with a 4" screen.
 
That thing is atrocious! No way Apple would create such crap. It looks like something out of the 1980s.

However, I can't wait to drink the sweet, sweet apple nectar. :D

Did everyone take the day off today? No new news? Go check out BGR or something. This new iP5 mockup is not THAT interesting.
 
Not trying to put the cat amoungst the pigeons, but can anyone else see Samsung counter suing due to this looking a bit like a SGII? Especially when apple sued them for how the galaxy tablet had the same dimensions as the ipad.

I think anybody suing Apple over phone stuff is ridiculous, in that every freaking phone that exists these days is a carbon copy of what Apple did. They all use the mechanics that the original iPhone used.

Yep. Mentioned multiple times in this thread and I agree. Samsung I think would kinda love if this looked like this. :eek:
 
If the new iphone doesn't have a bigger screen, I'm going with a SGSll.
I am sick of looking at the 3.5 inch screen for the last 3 years - :mad:

I really don't care if they call it 4S or 5; so long as they don't go that disgustingly ugly asymmetrical proposition I've seen posted here.. I really like the shape of the 4, and with upgrades, I'm sure it will be wonderful.. I'm really overdue for a new one; I have one of the original 3G phones still..

Who cares if they call it a 4S though?.. seriously! Will that make you not get one if they call it a 4S instead of a 5? :confused:

Maybe not true: Aluminum back "iPad 2 lookalike", this rumor is based on a lost prototype, Apple may test their prototypes with FAKE case, this way saving their secrets in case of theft.

Sure will be an iPhone 5, with 4" screen and Cortex A5 as we know, but unless Apple opted for disappoint us, it designs sure will be much more radical than an "iPad 2 micro".

4G is not a definite broski. maybe HSPA+, but not LTE at least.

It's not a big deal for me as well, but I think for most people it hints at the idea of using a same case design. Think the 3G to 3GS.

Oh thats your tought amigo, i don't really care of the look, but of the inside. The tech must be at least comparable with the other phones in matter of power level! And as i said in a thread, i only buy an iPhone again, if it has real Flash Support and Real Bluethoot File Shareing.
