Has anybody done this yet on two phones? I'm wondering with the total price is for two phones after fees and taxes on the data plus plan. Thanks

With the autopay and paperless bill discount($10) it's 145 for two phones(that includes the $20 per line access fee). Taxes and fees will be different for each city/state. Even if the taxes and fees were the same as my two grandfathered unlimited lines I'd be saving $15.

Att unlimited plus may not be the cheapest but it has tethering and other features.
Once again the most important thing is to be sure that ATT or any other carrier that you select provides good service where you intend to use the phone
Also remember that if you're going from Att to T mobile even though your phone may be unlocked you might not get the same speeds as a T-Mobile phone (because of the different bands they use)

Switched to T-Mobile this week. The last 5 was the final straw.. 93 a month after 20% discount. Now with T-Mobile I have one plus , unlimited data, unlimited HD streaming, unlimited call and text and my bill is 56 a month cause a nice employee have me friend and family discount

if you get the 20% employee discount, and you make changes to your account, does it always stick? (i.e. start solo plan for 20% off, and then later move to three lines, etc)

in relation to t-mobile**

None of the above for me. I had an original grandfathered unlimited but after I got married and combined phone lines I eventually let it go. Turned out I wasn't using that much anyway and could save about $30/mo by switching. Hated to do it but now glad I did.

Made the switch to Verizon over the weekend - so far so good. Initially the guy tried to tell me my AT&T 6+ wouldn't activate on the network to which I quickly replied that it should... He was probably just fishing for a new device sale which for most people with a 2+ year old phone wouldn't be a hard sell, but I've waited this long I'll see what comes out in the fall and save the lease payment until then. I'll be paying a little over $50/month as the 4th line on my brother's plan compared to the $91, soon to be $96, per month I was paying for my single line on AT&T. With everyone offering unlimited now, and the loss of subsidized phones through 2 year contracts there wasn't much reason to stick around.

I just merged accounts with my wife's & mother in law's lines and switched to Unlimited Data Plus. CSR tried to deny me the Unlimited Plus since I didn't have DirectTV. Kept saying it's only for DirectTV customers even though it doesn't say that on the website. Had to tell her multiple times that's not true and she finally gave it to me. Also finally cancelled one of my suspended lines under contract and got the ETF waived due to the recent increase to old unlimited data plan (I used that line to get subsidy upgrades every year which alternated with my own line).

We will still save monthly despite FAN not applying and everyone has unlimited everything now along with hotspot which I don't need to wait to jailbreak my phone.

Not entirely sure. I don't anticipate making changes but a great question. I'm thrilled with 56 for unlimited everything though.

I travel from Boston to Buffalo every 2 weeks for the weekend and both areas are great so far. No complaints.

My wife and I both have grandfathered AT&T unlimited plans. Our 3 kids each have a $30 per month data plan. We have a FamilyTalk plan for calls/texts. The math looks like this:

$60 FamilyTalk Plan
$20 Family Messaging
$40 My UDP
$40 Wife's UDP
$30 Child 1's Data (3GB)
$10 Child 1's Family Talk Fee
$30 Child 2's Data (3GB)
$10 Child 2's Family Talk Fee
$30 Child 3's Data (3GB)
$10 Child 3's Family Talk Fee

$280 = Total 5 Person Family iPhone Use

Before we give up our two cherished grandfathered unlimited plans (scares me even to type that), I need someone to check the math please. If I'm reading the ATT site properly:

$145 First 2 Lines on AT&T Unlimited Plus
$60 Child's 3 Lines on AT&T Unlimited Plus

$205 = New Total 5 Person Family iPhone Use

Is that right? Am I missing something? Are there sneaky fees I'm not reading in the fine print?

I'm scared to cut the grandfathered dataplan cord.....is this really the time?

Correct. 145 for base 2 lines if you setup autopay. If you don't it's 155 base

No catch except FAN discount doesn't apply on new plan if you have that and stream saver turns on by default for 480p quality. Can turn it off in myatt though easily. And you get up to 10gb unthrottled hotspot now too. 10gb is of overall amount so if u use 8gb on phone data 2gb hotspot is left until throttle. 22gb max for phone data too before throttle which is same as before.

Thanks. And if my kids are costing me a data overage on average of $60-$90 a month, this puts an end to that. So my final math with their overages (I hate Snapchat) would be:

$415.00 (this month's bill)
$225.00 (next month's bill)

And I pick up tethering for all 5 of us up to 10GB a month at LTE speeds?

There must be a catch, right? Should I really cut the cord and lose the grandfathered unlimited data plans?

As thedoggfather stated above, add $10 if you don't use a debit/bank account for auto-pay. But your math is correct. $215 + taxes - $10 for auto-pay if applicable.

Everyone will get unlimited data, 10GB of LTE hotspot, unlimited text and minutes. Also, I recently found out you get unlimited text messaging in 190 countries and unlimited mms in 120 countries. Extra nice perk. (In addition to unlimited minutes, text and data in Canada and Mexico).

No catch. I did it. Gave up 3 unlimited grandfathered plans, and so did my GF's family. Our bill is $175 + tax - $10. Just competition. Thanks Verizon and TMO.

Yeah no catch. Would be too good to be true... if not for still being one of the worst deals offered still since all the carriers dropped their pants to play catch up with t mobile.. and "taxes and fees" always allows itself to get screwy. What other fees could we be talking about , for example?

And nixing the FAN discount is a crock of bull imo

I forgot about 10 autopay credit all these companies really want you to autopay huh?haha

5 autopay credit for 1 line. 10 for 2 lines or up and 10 max discount even after 2 lines.

What is a FAN discount?

BJ

Employee/edu discount. On legacy plans

Still turns out cheaper on new plans when all is said and done

question actually, Autopay already set up on our account

the -$10 doesn't reflect on the breakdown of plan right? for example it'll still show $115 base and $20/line, but in 1-2 cycles should reflect a -$10 credit right?

Where did you hear about the texting in other countries?

First off, thanks to all who have responded, extremely helpful.

dogg I'm confused by your statement above. I thought that the iPhone is unlimited data (throttle at 22GB per line) and the hotspot/tether is unlimited (throttle at 10GB per line).

Let's say my son uses 0GB of hotspot/tether in a given month and crosses 11GB of iPhone data. Are you saying that the moment his line goes above 10GB of iPhone data that it automatically throttles the hotspot/tether which (in this example) he used 0GB of at that point?

Its in the fine print. Let me get a screenshot.

"UNLIMITED TEXT: Standard Messaging – Phones only. Includes unlimited messages up to 1MB in size within DCA to more than 190 countries for text messages and 120 countries for picture and video messages. AT&T may add, change, and remove included countries at its discretion without notice. Messages sent through applications may incur data or other charges. See att.com/text2world for details"

My understanding is that is correct. That's how the employee broke it down for me but that may be misinformation. Especially considering he was adamant FAN would apply and doesn't. But this was also before fine print was clarified
...
Would love clarity too. And considering I have 9gb used and almost none of that tether data and 6 days left on new unlimited plus perhaps I'll squeeze out that 10gb on sooner side and see what happens and report back.

Awesome. Thank you!

It says "to over ___ countries" but when I called AT&T they said that means while traveling as well. But Before doing so, i would definitely contact AT&T to verify, because we know that every single rep gives different answers. I can't trust anything AT&T says anymore. Isn't that sad...

also to reconfirm discount is Autopay and paperless, turned paperless off and I will turn it back on :D

especially since Autopay is setup,

$10 is better than no savings,

I dont think that is correct.

You get 22GB a month before throttling. 10GB of that can be used for hotspot.

So if you use 10GB of hotspot the first week, you have 12GB of iPhone data for the rest of the month before throttling kicks in. The throttling is separate from each other, but the total 22GB is the hard limit before throttling may go into effect. I can use 15GB of iPhone, then I have 7GB left for hotspot before my iPhone starts getting throttled, but I would still have 3GB more of hotspot (full speed).

AT&T told me 22GB of high speed per line, 10GB of hotspot comes from that 22GB. Other than that, their throttles are separate.
