Yeah thats what I am wondering... you got the 3G on release day and now this for $299? !!!

Does anyone else find it ironic that the two longest threads are:

1.) WWDC was so disappointing! (PS AT&T sucks)

2) Preordering 3GS at Apple.com

my guess is that Apple didn't cave and let ATT have exclusive rights to the iPhone past their current agreement. So ATT is being the child it naturally is.

Maybe he early upgraded. I did that when I got my 3G 6 months ago, and I qualify for the full 2 year discount now.

please elaborate. I'm not sure what you mean by "early upgraded". explain it like i'm a second grader. i won't be offended.

thx.

Let's say he purchased a Razr through at&t in March of 2007. In June of 2008, he decided he wanted to buy a new iPhone 3G. Since he was still under his original two year contract, at&t charged him an extra $200 to upgrade early ($399/$499 total).

Since he upgraded early and paid the extra $200, his account is still eligible for its 'normal' upgrade two years after his Razr purchase (March of 2009) and he qualifies for the now discounted pricing on the iPhone 3G S.

That doesn't seem to work. I am in that exact situation (different phone than the razr though :p) and it says I'll have to pay FULL price for the damn thing. Luckily my mom and brother are both eligible, so hopefully I'll just use one of their upgrades.

Exactly what I did.

I'm in same situation, and doesn't work... but I'm eligible on 7/23

I just preordered to pick up in the store.

Do you think there will be a separate line? I wonder how backed up it'll be. I suppose this guarantees me a phone though at that store, correct?

no it doesn't. I think pick up at stores are going on a first come first serve basis.

On hold

I've been getting the error so I'm trying to call into Apple to place the order. I've been on hold for over two hours. Anyone had any success placing an order? Any hints on when AT&T will get around to updating their website so we can preorder on there?
