As I expected, my laptop is gonna be sitting in Louisville until tomorrow since my delivery day isn't until Fridwy. The tracking reflects this. Disappointed but not angry.

Also, only 1 more scheduled flight remains that departs for Nor Cal from SDF according to Flightaware.com. So further confirmation that my laptop isn't going to arrive at a Nor Cal UPS facility today.

Looks like I spoke too soon. As soon as I wrote this, I got a text message saying that my delivery day has been "rescheduled" from 7/27 to 7/26! So there is a very high likelihood that my laptop is going to be on this flight! Can't wait to find out!

I am not sure. I ordered the laptop through the aerospace company I work for to get their company discount. I would hope not at this point.
Ahh my dates are 26/7 to 2/8, all the apple pending £1’s on my CC have expired now, I keep checking hourly if any charges.

Finally got mine setup after collecting yesterday. It was a day early. Some interesting performance stats straight off.
If anyone's interested (Geekbench & Blackmagic speed test), these are taken from my own experience (personal, work & colleague machines). Sorry I don't have Blackmagic stats for others.

13" MBP 2018 TB, 1TB, 16, i7 (my new one):
- Geekbench = 4989 single / 18243 multi
- Geekbench GPU = 33414 (less than 2017?! I will try again, it may have been indexing. Update: 36338 on second benchmark)
- Blackmagic eGPU = 119762 (yowzer)
- Blackmagic (same company?!) = 2625 MB/s read, 2738 MB/s write

13" MBP 2017 i7-7567U (colleague):
- Geekbench = 4562 single / 9173 multi
- Geekbench GPU = 34257

Macbook 12" 2017 i7-7Y75 (old machine):
- Geekbench = 4221 single / 8137 multi
- Geekbench GPU = 19305
- Blackmagic = 1350 read/1230 with

Dell Precision 5520 (i7-7820HQ, HD630 & Quadro M1200) (work machine):
- Geekbench = 4814 single / 14976 multi
- Geekbench GPU = HD630 21825 / M1200 51241

Thanks for these stats. I will upload my Geekbench and Blackmagic benchmarks sometime tomorrow.

Sigh... the story so far....

Ordered on 16th... used Paypal as payment method

2am this morning it changed to "on hold". Authorisation problem. I logged in and saw there was nothing I could do so decided that I would cancel in the morning (still an option) and buy from store, as they are now in stock.

This morning I have a declined SMS from credit card (linked as backup method on paypal) but order is now "preparing for dispatch".

Spoke to Apple, apparently on 2nd try it worked. However the auth is still "pending" in paypal and no money has gone from my account.

It is also too late to cancel.

So, I guess the money is moving slowly from Paypal to Apple somehow, and after that happens (2 to 3 days?) it will move to "shipped".

This feels like a long slog, especially as the machines are now in stores so I could just pick one up!

Wow... BOOM, just got a sms from DPD UK, delivering tomorrow in a 1 hour slot of my choice!

See, there was nothing to worry about! Apple has got your back!

Just realised I don’t get to track the delivery plane! What an anticlimax!! LOL

If I had a penny for every time I've pressed the refresh button on my order status page ... I'd have a free lunch.

I’d have a stack of Macbooks... used the chrome auto-refresh plugin set to 1 minute!!

Just tell me the departure scan and the arrival scan times of your MBP and hopefully I can dig up the flight that your MBP was on (if you want).

I'd appreciate that! Totally new to Apple and buying my first Mac! Super hyped!

I think mines been delayed sadly.

Can't find the next scheduled flight from CGN > STN, but here were the flights flying that route today.

Here was the flight from ICN > ALA > CGN (the times don't perfectly line up, but the route does):

Hi,

with that routing, I would expect it to arrive Castle Donningtion early hours of the morning, with another flight closer to your home, and a delivery tomorrow

So theres still a chance I could get it tomorrow? I'd be made up!

1 year ago I was very anti Apple I was all about Android and didn't understand why people were willing to pay more for less.

I took a chance on iPhone X due to having multiple issues with Android Bluetooth support being awful even in the Pixel lineup and I've not looked back, The server has been amazing. Can't fault the Apple Store staff and just the way your spoken too when you have an issue.

I've since branched out to HomePods and sold all our Alexa devices.

I'm totally converted!

It started with the iPod Shuffle for me. So simple, yet so reliable and so easy to use. Since then, I moved on to the iPod Touch and then iPhone and now my 1st Macbook Pro. Each device was elegantly designed, and the software, although restrictive, gave me no headaches and was very reliable. So issues whatsoever. Here's hoping that macOS is just as reliable as iOS has been for me.

Keep reading threads on here about issues with macOS, but I'm hoping I don't have these kinds of issues.

Its the customer service that got me originally for the MBP

That and when I went to the O2 shop for a Nokia N95, it felt sooo plastic and cheap. There was an original iPhone next to it which felt awesome in comparison, and I was sold on iPhones for the build quality. That and the Apple Ecco system that almost everything 'just works'

What configuration did you order? Take a look at B&H Photo - looks like they have build to order configurations in stock now. Might get to you faster than Apple

My company discount from Apple makes it cheaper to buy via Apple than B&H, considerably so. I ordered an i9 / 32GB / 1 TB SSD / 560X

Don't get me wrong the first Apple product I owned was the original iPod and I had an iPhone 3GS!

I guess I just forgot how simple things can be and what it's like to use devices that just work (Most of the time).

I just need Apple to bring out a smaller HomePod I can put around the rest of the house and maybe a doorbell so I can replace Ring!

I'm hyped for macOS. I deal with Windows everyday for my day job (Systems Engineer) so I'm actually pretty excited to learn something new and the struggle doing basic things.

Nothings perfect but the experience so far has been far closer to it than most things.
