I really hope to get a rMBP 13' as soon as it becomes available. I'd pay more to get more power and a much better screen.

But, how much do you guys think it's going to cost?

Apparently, the Retina version is from 22% to 27% more expensive:

MBP 15' (base model) -> $1800
Retina MBP 15' (base model) -> $2200
Diference: 22%

MBP 15' (top model) -> $2200
Retina MBP 15' (base model) -> $2800
Diference: 27%

If the 13' model follows the same diference:

MBP 13' (base model) -> $1200
Retina MBP 13' (base model) -> $1500
Diference: 25%

MBP 13' (top model) -> $1500
Retina MBP 13' (base model) -> $1900
Diference: 27%

But in another recent post here by staff Mr. Kuo stated that the 13" Retina Pro would be "aggressively priced below $1,300".

Mr. Kuo always know.

If it was that cheap no one would but the Air anymore at it's current price and that's nearly a 1K difference between 13 and 15 inch.

Not going to happen. It will at least be $1400.. and I mean that in the fullest capacity of the word "least".

I think I'm gonna go and buy the current model. I really don't want a retina panelled iMac, would be such a waste of resources, especially for me. It really didn't wow me the retina MBP as long as its free from dead pixels, relatively bright and colourful a current iMac display is more than adequate.

I agree with you, but nothing has pointed to a retina iMac other than speculation. Credible analysts have even clearly said NO retina this refresh.

They say 3 new models ... if they have confirmed the 21.5" and 27" .... what is the 3rd size? a 25" or 29-30"?

30 inch would be super super cool I just hope they release them all at the same time. I would be a little upset if they released the 27inch in Sep and I bought it and then come Oct they released the 30inch.

I don't think Steve Jobs would ever announce something as big a new laptop at the same media event as a new iPhone (unless it was Macworld). Sure, the 13" rMBP and the iPhone 5 are both 'expected' at this point. But Apple now dictates their own release schedule and associated media fanfare, so there's no real benefit to announcing both at once. I think Steve Jobs realized the value in keeping the iOS world very distinct from the Mac world. Tim Cook may or may not share that same view. I guess we'll find out on Wednesday.

(all that being said, I HOPE the 13" rMBP is released soon, I don't know how much longer my BlackBook can survive!)

I don't like retina iPad retina macBook pro and now retina iMac. Current IPS display is top. Just come with new CPU GPU and option 2 SSD and cheaper SSD pls

I want the 27" but what I don't get are the rumors of a 3rd model? Could this be the Retina one at a different size, say 23-24"?

Guess we'll find out in 2 days which way Apple jumps, I'm hoping they announce them both/all but delay the shipping of the 27". I'm sure there are plenty of customers out there who would love the 21" right now!

20% less

Now you, might be thinking that there is a difference in the number of pixels. Yes there is, but how different is 2880 by 1800 and 2560 by 1600?

It's about 20% less pixels to push.

I would guess that this might indicate a noticeable performance difference, but I'd really like to play with one before making any definite claims that it is/isn't choppy.

Hate to say it... but I think I'm going to have to wait on the retina 13 MBP until the next generation of intel processors comes out. That is, unless Apple squeezed a discrete graphics card in. Which I don't think they did.

Also, I wouldn't be upset if Digitimes was never quoted on MacRumors ever again. Why even bother - they just make things up.

Remove the optical drive and you should have enough room for a discrete graphics card.

Think I'll skip rMBP-1.0, too many problems with ghosting, stuck pixels, higher power consumption, and an underpowered dGPU (only 1GB RAM). Waiting for a better low-power display technology, IGZO and 10 hour battery life.

Go ahead and wait then. We won't stop you

Delays?

I suppose the real reason for the delay is they can't find the right glue to hold the hard drive in.

Your maths is way, way off. Comparing "base" model and "top" model is nonsense, because they have totally different specs. Take the retina base model, then take the non-retina model _with the exact same specs_, and the retina base model is cheaper by $200.

A new iMac design would be awesome!

Current design is fantastic, but new Apple design is ALWAYS welcome! :D

Hope for Retina display in new iMac :)
i have new MacBook Pro Retina and iMac 21,5" late 2009 and moving from my Retina to iMac display is terrible - it looks from old ages compare to retina display :)

& i think new iMac`s will be without CD/DVD drive and thinner (guess)

I doubt a rMBP will be priced below $1500 we shall wait and see :D

Why not ? If we take a cue from the 15" rMBP, it takes the base config, adds a SSD drive and 4 GB of RAM. Configuring a 13" MBP with 4 GB of extra RAM (8 GB total) and a 128 GB SSD, we get a base price of 1499$.

The 15" rMBP is actually cheaper than a similarly configuered non-retina model. So it's not that far fetched to think Apple would do a 8 GB, 128 GB SSD rMBP 13" for lower or close to 1499$.

Agreed. I think entry 13" rmbp would come with 8GB just like the 15". I don't think there will be a 4GB option for the 13" rmbp

Any Retina iMac will either be an optional extra or a separate iMac line and maybe at a different screen size.

Some have said they want a 24" iMac, maybe this could be the Retina iMac, smaller than the 27" but higher DPI providing a better screen.

I'm still hoping to get a 27" 'normal' iMac, depending on price.

The more I think on this, the more I do think that they are following the Macbook Pro model from June.

There will be spec bumped 21.5 and 27 iMacs, same res on the screens and overall similar design, just Ivy, GPU and USB 3 upgrades.

Then another iMac all its own, maybeeeeeee 24 inch, that is a retina, say 3840x2160, double the current 21.5 res. Possibly no optical or mechanical HD, just SSD. Still has a better GPU and standard on board I/O.

Hmmmm...
