..If I sell used cars, and you open a used car business 100 meters away, you are competition. If you steal my cars and sell them, you are not competition, you are a thief. Psystar was never competition.
...

This is a dishonest comparison. It would be more like buying 5.0L Ford engines, and dropping them in kit cars.

One has to wonder if there are some truly religious fans here, or if Apple hired a few unemployed pimply nerds to diffuse any negative PR on the boards....

Apple's customers do have a choice; iMac, Mac Pro, MacBook, MacBook Pro...
None of those are really configurable. Then there is a huge gap - no mid-range tower and no low end large screen notebook.

Apple used to fill these gaps a little though. At least the old iBook was 14 inches.

If you don't like it, you are free to leave...

That's not nice.

We are truly devoted to something we like. If someone says otherwise, we like to see proof and not just here-say. Prove to us what you are arguing and we are going to be friendly. Troll us, and expect flames.

That's one of things around many Mac users, the loyalty they have on Apple is not even achieved by many other companies in the world

The OS is also part of the out of the box experience.
What is the problem with getting virus protection?

Check Apple's last quarter profit. Also, Apple has many times stated, they are here to provide Quality over Quantity.
Yeah, and Apple could get even more profit. And Apple's hardware is anything but quality.

Having more choices also does not mean less quality

Mr. Psystar Gates please stand up!!

that makes absolutly no sense at all....

why the hell would Ms preload OSX onto a custom built computer and not windows? psystar used LEGAL copies of OSX (purchased at retail price) apple wins since they get money. the only reason apple is mad is becuase they are not getting 100% of the money because they are greedy like the rest of the large corporations out there

Well that's your choices...take it or leave it. I want an Xbox 360 with a blu-ray drive but MS doesn't offer one, so they must have a hole in their lineup...

Time Out!

I've read all 22 pages of this thread and it's quite clear to me that many posts have been made by Microsoft shills. I define a shill as anyone who is either directly on Steve Ballmer's payroll, or who stands to benefit indirectly from the derogation of Apple. Based on the evident low moral fiber and high persistence of confabulation, IWANTITTHATWAY wins my award as the most reprehensible and transparent of PAID contributors to this discussion. There is absolutely NO WAY those opinions could be anything other than MSFT PR. I'd have to rank JOHNNYLEMONHEAD (if that is your real name) second on the list, followed by ERICINBOSTON, VERI, and sadly, even MACUSER2007.

Beware, fellow readers, for there is no veracity in their assertions. Even now, I am girding my loins for their inevitable denials and their loathsome allegations unto my own fanbois status. Meanwhile, they forget that millions feel that MacOSX is worth $500 more than Vista and gladly pay it. Not to mention another $200 for the nice looking hardware.

But seriously, those guys are sleeping with the enemy.

ADDENDUM:
You DO realize that these guys are following the Microsoft party line by focusing on the cost of hardware, ignoring the ENORMOUS superiority of Apple software?! ie Microsoft is indisputably deficient!

Last post from me regarding this argument...

If we don't need, then we should have to have. Period.

Choices are there, just you are used to seeing Dell or HP like choice per model. This ends up making one model like the other. Apple likes model difference, and it has worked so far.

Now, like I said before. If you like what Apple offers you great. Else, there is always else where to look at. No one is telling you buy an Apple product with a gun to your head.

This is a really good quote. For all to read and understand, the rest is just static ruining this beautiful post. Sometimes less is best?

the enemy? oh god...

sad case...

If enough people whine, companies sometimes listen. They're not always about telling you what you want - sometimes they just want to find out what you want and sell it to you. Consider the white MacBook. Could this possibly be because of the epic whining over loss of Firewire in the new designs?

Let's not also forget simpler gifts like bugreport.apple.com, a tool for every Apple user to prepare a huge text file saying "xyz isn't working right". Sometimes, they even correct the bugs :D.

A consumer can (and should) take an active role. He doesn't have to be a shareholder, or buy a million widgets/year.

Why? They offer a range of products that I can choose from and don't offer that I want, you want a xMac and Apple doesn't offer one in their range.

A console is a console and it's one configuration for 5 years. Every other PC manufacturer has a diverse line up so why not Apple? It's not like the 13-inch MacBook would disappear if Apple made a 16 inch one.

What's funny about the Blu-ray in the 360 is that I agree with Jobs on Blu-ray - it's a bag of dirt.

In fact, I like the way the MBAir is going - optical discs are a thing of the past.

Sorry, got carried away.

Blu-ray is far from hurt. At least in my home theater.
