My dentist saw it yesterday and wouldn't start on my root canal until I showed it to him. I showed him a couple of clock faces and thought he would start, but he says "You're not done yet", so I show him some glances, and wait for him to start. No, I guess I wasn't done yet. He wanted to see a text on it, then replied through the mic, then had to show him the earth and planets and moon and on and on. He finally proceeded to do my root canal (ow!).

I'm pretty sure he spent last night putting in his order for a new watch.

While I was standing in my company marketing suite (a bullpen arrangement) I took a call on my Apple Watch. You would've thought I had just pulled out a hand grenade from the reaction. A couple of people in the department tweeted about it later that day. Both of them saying something along lines of "the future is here". :)

I tend to keep it covered and don't talk into it in public, that incident was the sole exception.

Man, people LOOOOOVE asking me how much it cost. Didn't it used to be considered rude to ask that? I hate answering that question, it makes me feel so snobby. But they asked.
An acquaintance once snarked "How's your iPhone? ...Overpriced?"

People really seem to hate when their peers are able to spend money on something they wouldn't/couldn't!

Don't worry. They are just trying (in futility) to fight off the urge to buy one too.

I had my first comment today! After having my watch for almost two weeks, two 13 year old boys in my class noticed and put their hand up "Miss, is that an apple watch?" Very distracting for them for a few minutes but then they moved on. I haven't had anyone else really say anything without me mentioning it first. Could be because it's STILL not available here in New Zealand so no one has really seen one in real life.

Kids really dig all the new tech. When I first got my watch, my 7 year old told her entire class, and a bunch of them gathered for a demo of the butterflies when I came to pick her up.

No one has commented on mine After ~5 days of wearing it. I was going to use Passbook for my Starbucks card but the screen is so small I wasn't sure if I could trust it to work fast enough and didn't want to be that guy holding up the line with his Apple watch ;)

No worries about that. I tried using my Starbucks card on my watch yesterday, and it worked fine. Try it!

That's cute. There's a photo of me that was published in a Japanese sport magazine a few years ago, where I was rugby-scrummed by about 30 high school girls in Kyoto, looking at my then-new white iPhone 3G. Very amusing.

TBH I'm surprised kids are amazed by it. There's really nothing amazing about a butterfly moving on a screen anymore, only difference is its a really small screen strapped to your wrist. Growing up with smartphones, I would think kids would be jaded to these things.

My 11 year old made me call my husband/his dad back yesterday after I let slip I'd answered dads call on the watch. I had my head in the airing cupboard as the divertor valve looks to be broken and our boiler was heating up our radiators - in 25 odd degrees in the UK :( Phone was downstairs, it was easy. he thought it was amazing - my arm just ached by the end of it!

Couple of evenings ago, went out to eat. As was placing order, someone who worked asked me if I had one of those "phone watches".

Come to think of it, I do seem to get most attention with the white sport band. When I put on my third party black leather band people usually don't notice.

I have the SG w/ BB and it's very low profile. Only a couple of friends and colleagues asked for it. Sometimes questions like, "and what do you need it for?".. When I demo'ed it (navigation, HR measuring, Siri, phone calls etc.) most of them were delighted. Had a couple of stealthy looks in the metro as well.

I am glad that not everyone asks me about it. I enjoy it and like the design and handling very much and that's the main thing for me. I enjoy showing it in this forum full of nerds like me, though. :D

Mine's one of the most subtle combinations; space gray Sport with black fluroelastomer band. I don't flaunt it or stay in one place long enough for people to get a good look, so not surprisingly haven't gotten feedback. That might change when I get the red leather band I've been eyeing.

No comments at all. But then again I wear it on the underside of my right wrist kind of hidden from view.

And many of my colleagues wear much more exotic mechanical wristwatches so the Apple Watch probably doesn't interest them.

On the other hand I've seen several people with Apple Watches and always congratulate them and try to start a discussion.

Wait...what?? Why? That sounds horribly uncomfortable. Which band do you use so the top of your wrist doesn't look weird? That's cray cray. Can you post a pic?

I posted a pic in my "Double Wristing" thread here:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/is-anyone-else-double-wristing-it.1889581/

As I was always wearing a stainless steel men's bracelet on my right wrist I don't find having the Watch there to be very uncomfortable.

At first I started with the Milanese mesh but now I'm using an aftermarket polished tungsten with strap adapters.

I think half of their interest is just based on that it's a new gadget from Apple. All kids know that Apple makes terrific gadgets. But aside from that, even two weeks after I got my watch, my daughter likes to play with it. She loves the wide variety of butterflies that come up each time you tap, and she loves controlling it. She also likes changing the watch faces and selecting the colors. The way the Watch UI works has a certain universal appeal to it.

I used my watch at McDonalds. The woman who took my order was very confused. Even though I said I was using apple pay, she looked at me holding my watch out the car window, and was like, "uh, nice watch??" I had to tell her I wasn't showing it off. I was using it to pay.

Did they have a payment unit installed outside the window? I haven't been able to use mine at the drive-thru, only inside.

A co-worker came up to me and struck up a conversation when he noticed it. He asked me, "is that one of those 'watch phones?!'"
