No clue why people get so worked up about what others are personally doing with them

So weird.
It’s weird you try to act as some innocent victim lol. Emulators are legal. Using Roms to access stolen content is not.

I have more respect for ppl just owning up to it I get that you guys for whatever reason get giddy at Sticking it to these big corporations(see apple anytime the EU whines about something) that you can get something paid for free which I find weird

Does anyone even remember a phone number anymore?
:) It took me a year to get mine memorized after I had to change it (phone numbers are not as portable as they advertise.) After all, I never call it. Yes, I can still remember my childhood phone number.

I did call the motorcycle shop last week to check for parts availability. I'll be getting a confirmation call for a dentist's appointment this week. I still do SMS texting though, that's all the flip phone can do. They tend to come in batches from either of two places. I don't know if the other end is iPhone or Android, and I don't care.

Various spam sites keep sending texts saying I should download a file. The flip phone doesn't do that either, so that's a safety feature. ;)

If you never text message Android users then doesn’t really matter if you turn it off either then. You wouldn’t notice any difference.
And why is it big deal if I turn it off? I don’t have to like or use features that you deem to be perfect. SMS works for me.

You act as if I never will talk to an android person ever. Unfortunately there are ppl who voluntarily choose to use that OS and that’s fine I guess. Rcs Benefits them more than me.

On my Macs (which range from a 2014 iMac to an M2 Max Mac Studio) and on my iOS devices, that's exactly what Junk does. Why it's not working on your device might have something to do with your Mail settings, or various other reasons depending on your combination of hardware and software. I'd get an Apple authorised dealer to check it out.

Which is more important – the irritation of constantly having to move important emails (and the risk of losing one) or placing a company's details in your contacts, at least until you have figured out what's causing the problem?

Nah it does move some correct stuff into the junk folder, I seem to be quite the attraction for Ukraine girls looking for dates 😂
But the odd email from a legit company gets placed into junk. I may give Outlook a go, I use to use that a while ago but ended up with Mail.
Still it’s one for the AI to work with no? Be more useful then AI emoji’s that’s for sure.

Speech to text has existed since the 90s (see dragon naturally speaking), and no one called it AI software.
Dragon worked in a much different way.
Today's software is more context aware and interprets grammar rules better.

Watch live translation now and see how it looks backwards and corrects previous words based on new information.

The same goes with Text to Speech.
You no longer get the robotic phonetic sounding output: you get different voice models, natural like output. Deep fakes - even singing.

Dragon was just a first building block to the AI tools.

Only in the US they still use SMS or care about the colour of message bubbles.
I really wish the arrogance and ego of non-Americans would get checked so they can stop spreading this hyperbole.

1. Americans do use cross platform (messenger and Snapchat are the two biggest apps). I use both regularly daily.

It’s because our country is wrapped around SMS and we view texting in a more intimate setting. If a guy asked me for my Snapchat or Instagram at the bar to talk I’m going to look him weird vs a guy asking for my phone number.

It’s weird for me to download another app to communicate when my phone has the built in capacity.

I call my mom on her phone even though i am connected to her on multiple apps. But at the same time if I’m using an app and I see something that reminds me of her or she’d fine funny I use the app. The app is a part of communication not replacing any other means to communicate

So plz stop saying Americans don’t use cross platform solutions.

2. Nobody on iOS truly cares about the color. I prefer not talking to green bubbles only because I can’t use half the features of iMessage with them.

I love knowing when someone is apple so I can know if I should use X features or have to do it a different way.

Android users are the ones who came up with this ridiculous stereotype because some woman 10 years ago when the iPhone was considered a luxury device rejected him and some bullied kid in 2009 got bullied for using android and not an iPhone.

Get real.

Also, when iMessage had that outage the other week , it being blue normally and then switching to green actually is what clued me and millions of others who don’t use macrumors that something was wrong with iMessage. If it was green, I wouldn’t know whether it was carrier related (no signal) or apple related (server issue).
Does anyone even remember a phone number anymore?

Funny enough, I got arrested last year lmao. A public intoxication charge. Quite ridiculous really when I was getting into the Uber to go home but I fired off an f bomb at the cop 😂 fun times. Charge got dropped since I wasn’t actually doing anything but when I got to jail my phone was dead.

And it was when I realized the only phone number I knew were to my local little Caesar’s and Buffalo Wild Wings 🤧

So I made sure to memorize my top 3 numbers should I ever have a need. It’s why I started using ICE in my contact as well

I’d be happy if they could have Siri actually play the playlist I told it to while in the car, rather than playing some random freaking Apple Music song, the title of which doesn’t even remotely sound like the name of the playlist.

Just get that right, Apple.

When RCS comes to iMessage one of the main things it will do is enable more equivalent features to what you do with iMessage. That is a big part of RCS. It will probably be invisible to you but the messages you share to them will look better and have things like reaction icons. You might find that RCS actually helps you in this regard.

Lots of these ancient emulated titles were made by people who would be difficult to track down or aren’t alive anymore and published by studios that have long since gone out of business. In other words, who exactly would you pay?

Of course it’s different with more recent roms that remain the IP of active companies. That would fall under legitimate piracy.

Apple, please... Make improvements to shortcut generation. Do some fun stuff with photos. The end.

Stay away from any iOS changes that harkens us back to Clippy asking me if I'm starting to write a letter.

The ONE thing I’d like an on device AI to do is be able to watch what I do and suggest shortcuts that it then makes and saves for me. Shortcuts are very powerful but most people, including me, are disinclined to struggle through the interface and deal with figuring out exactly what it can and can’t do. But an AI could make it incredible useful.

Thing is, I don’t expect this to happen. Apple doesn’t seem committed to shortcuts, even though it could be one of the most useful functions the phone has ever offered.

Apple Pay isn’t going to be an rcs thing.

iMessage apps aren’t going to be an rcs thing.

Sharing check in location.

So many other things. There is absolutely no benefit or need for rcs for me.

RCS just replaces the protocol used for green bubble messages (SMS/MMS). It will be invisible to you. All the iMessage stuff will still work in blue bubble chats. But your green bubble chats will get better. They already cannot use Apple Pay or iMessage apps or sharing location. But they also cannot have message groups with more than like 16 people nor can they send full quality photos and videos.

There is NO disadvantage for using RCS over SMS/MMS. But OF COURSE you would NOT use it in place of iMessage.

Green bubbles get better — blue bubbles are still best. RCS is a total win.

Some nice basic table-stakes for AI features in software. Hopefully bigger plans in 1-2 years.
If people expected more they haven't been paying attention to competitors. They also don't have crazy AI stuff that actually works.

I bet all these new features will be in beta and available with later versions of iOS 18. I don't think in such a short time Apple can integrate them right away.
A report has already come out & said a lot of the AI stuff will say beta next to it
