from the day you exchange your iPhone 4 there will be a freeze on your iPhone upgrade eligibility for one month, meaning that you have to wait a month before buying an iPhone on your line, avoiding this whole cheating the system idea. It may or may not cover a family plan loop hole

I returned my black iphone just this past week (Thursday). I have already regained my eligibility according to ATTs website. It would allow me to repurchase the same black 32gb phone at the discounted rate if I wanted to. I am, however, going to wait for the white.

In modern parlance it's called "self-entitled." In psychological terms, it's Piaget's "Pre-Operational" developmental stage -- roughly equates to the mind of a 2-7 y.o. where thought is egocentric and ability to empathize or understand other viewpoints has yet to be developed.

Of course those returning their black phone b/c they want white will tell you that it's their right for one reason or another. They prove the theory for themselves. So don't judge people swapping out black for white they can't help it as they are socially and cognitively underdeveloped.

Heh, I call it the "rock star" or "me first" mentality.

It's like when there is a half-empty parking lot and some douche insists on parking on the yellow line with the hazards on, blocking other people from backing out and pedestrians from seeing traffic. Rock star parking.

Nah I won't be doing this, as good looking as the White version is, it's going to be VERY impractical, I had both a Black 3GS and White 3GS, wish I hadn't have bothered with the White version, it was more hassle than it was worth and when I was walking around, the only other people I saw with the White version were women lol. I'm perfectly happy with my Black model, also a few things on the White version look out of place and cheap, such as the Black screen, the speaker grill, proximity sensor and the cameras, just seems that this phone was made to be Black

Are you really insecure about your sexuality? Are you worried people will mistake you for a woman or perhaps homosexual if they see you with a white iPhone?

I just don't understand this rationale. If you like something then you like it. F&#$ what other people think about it.

You know, I was just considering this, and

Anyway, this is one of those moral gray areas where intent is key. That aside, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Apple purposely launches the white phone after the 30 day return window to try to foil all these exchange plans.

Yeah. This is pretty much where I net out on the whole issue. I'm amazed daily with the number of people that cannot grasp such a simple concept.

And since when did white become a feminine colour anyway?

Since Apple started making black products and attracting all the people who were previously so insecure that the white plastic was a dealbreaker.

And for whom constantly wiping off all of the smudgy fingerprints was less of a hassle than overcoming their obvious insecurity. ;)

I'm returning mines for white. I paid $500 for my phone and I'll do what the hell I want to do with it. If I'm going to pay that much, may as well be happy with the color.

Use your brain people. Apple has already said you can return the phone with no restocking fee, because of all the signal problems.

Step 1: Return phone.
Step 2: Purchase white one.

There is nothing Apple nor AT&T will do to stop this. Again, use your brain. Why would they care? They have already allowed for returns with no restocking fee. You are no longer an Apple customer, but you are still an AT&T customer. You no longer have to have the iPhone data plan on your AT&T account. Here is where the gears should be turning in your head. AT&T wants you to buy an iPhone, because they force the data plan on you. Apple wants you to buy an iPhone, because they make money from the phone.

AT&T and Apple are not in business to prevent sales. The world is a little bigger than this forum. You people forget that all the time.

Um...use YOUR brain.

Why would AT&T and Apple allow you to return and phone and then buy another at no extra cost to you.

You essentially bought two phones, returned one USED, but only paid for one phone. Apple and AT&T can no longer sell that phone as New, hence they lose money.

Not hard. Use your brain.

Then why did you buy a black one? Why not wait for the one you wanted if you were going to pay that much? Hmmm?

Use your brain people.

It's a good thing you don't teach economics. But I agree that people should use their brains. That means EVERYONE - including you.

Apple is in the business to SELL phones. They sold some people phones and then they are being asked to eat the cost of refurbishing in exchange for selling a new one. Value of a refurbished unit in the marketplace is LESS than a new one. Cost of refurbishing a phone is original manufacturing cost + refurbishing.

Now - tell me again why Apple would be excited to just swap out your old, used phone for a brand new one?

Hey, I got a female baby...errm, can I return it to God (or uterus) and get a son instead?

And because you're doing this, the next phone you buy will be $550.

How exactly is a white phone more impractical and more hassle than a black??!
Some of the B/S some people come up with is laughable.
So does the black screen on a mac airbook look out of place and cheap??

WTF is a Mac AirBook?! Am I missing something?! ;)

And I'm returning my black iPhone for a white one. All those who say this is terrible and whatnot, go ahead. I don't mind that much.

I'm in the group of people who have the signal issue. It's pretty terrible. It's getting worse as well. It takes less time to completely drop all bars and much less pressure. I can now gently lay one finger over the antenna and the signal drops. THAT is why I'm returning the phone. If I can then get a white one within a week or two, then I'll do that. As many people have claimed on this board, they're not having the issue. So if I return my "defective" iPhone 4, no matter what color it is, and get another, I probably won't have that issue. Right? Right. So who's to say I shouldn't get a white even though I bought a black one initially?

Also, Apple will be fine financially. Promise.

If you need another phone, exchange it under AppleCare. You'll get a like-for-like exchange and you won't have to complain about the antenna issue anymore. No white though, Apple doesn't allow black for white exchanges.

Which is why he's going to RETURN his and then get white.

I didn't buy AppleCare. All of these issues will be fixed within the year I get of free warranty so why purchase it?

I think Michael Jackson said it best......It don't matter if it's black or white....da na na na na na....na na na na na.......

No - that's what he hopes to do. Whether Apple allows the change of color or not is entirely different.

Return at AT&T buy back at Apple or vice versa. Don't see how that would be an issue. Or just return it and go back in a few days. I don't see how that is so complicated?

My decision. No need to explain myself when its MY money and MY phone. End of story, I'm getting the white iPhone.
