As clear as these protectors are, you don't need a hole.

Almost a sure bet that if you try to punch a hole in it for the camara it will not seal to the screen properly around the edge of the hole you make.

As the old saying goes: If it's not broke, don't ... ..

just how many protectors do you get in the package?

on the ebay page someone posted on the first page of this thread it says 2 x protectors, but on the video on the ebay page it shows 4 protectors. When it says 2 x protectors, does that mean you get 2 front and 2 back protectors per package?

ebay link here:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=180528766760&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT

if you watch the embedded youtube video on the page it shows the person unpacking 4 screen protectors, is that 2x front and 2x back?

Please note im easily confused.

As far as I know the only packages where you'd get 4 protectors (2 front, 2 back) are their full body sets. All the other packages come with just 2 front protectors

What you linked to would contain 2 front protectors and nothing else

thanks for the reply.

a bit cheeky of the ebay seller to link that video showing 4 when infact you only get 2!

either way, im rather interested in getting one of these, but i have to have the front and back protected, aswell as the antenna band.

which of the 3 types would be appropriate for me? or do they all literally just come with 2 front protectors. i cant find any full body ones like you say on ebay.

cheers

Again, I don't think this answers my question. I would like a response if you *have* done this -- not speculation on what could happen without having done this.

But anyway, I disagree with your point. Obviously the screen protectors themselves are cut out of large sheets and the holes for the earpiece and home button are themselves cut out of the screen protectors. So I don't think punching my own hole would have an adverse effect on the seal.

That is SGP's ebay. You can find the full body Ultra Crystal in their store.

If you don't like the Ultra Crystal you can find some of their Incredible Shield full body sets in their other store that apparently ships out of Korea: http://myworld.ebay.com/sgpcraft/

SGP doesn't make protectors for the back unless they are part of the full body sets.

thanks much appreciated.

do they deliver to internationally? (im in UK) or is there a UK/EU site?

cheers

edit: so this would suit my needs the best:

?

edit 2:

and also, can someone confirm for me which full body version comes WITHOUT the opening for the forward facing camera? i would rather have it covered with the protector!

im thinking of going for this:

thanks

I totally agree with the point, there is no way that you have a hole punch that is sharp enough to perfectly cut through the plastic without deforming it at all, and even the tiniest big of a deformity in the plastic around the hole would mess up the seal.

In theory your idea would be great (though completely unnecessary), but it just wouldn't work unless you have an extremely sharp punch that you hit with a hammer or something like that. But you are welcome to try it :)

I ordered mine earlier today.

I've been on the fence about getting a screen protector or not, going back and forth, but I decided that I might as well spend the $17 (with shipping) and try this thing out. The worst that happens is I'm out $17, which is nowhere near the end of the world.

Has anyone tried punching a hole in the screen protector for the front-facing camera? I think it'd be pretty easy to line up the protector, mark the spot, and punch out a hole. Of course, you'd need to have a hole punch in the right size, but that's somewhat trivial.

Don't use a hole puncher, it would just deform the screen protector. Use a high speed dremel tool with a small and shape drill bit.

It's becoming pretty obvious that you are convinced that you need to add a hole in your screen protector even though there have been many threads and posts on the SGP Screen protectors saying that there is no adverse affects due to the clarity of the protector.
If your that confident that it needs it and that you have the ability to punch a clean hole in the film, why not try it and post your results here for everyone to see the difference it makes and that indeed it can or should be done.

I have the oleophobic protector. No cut out for front camera; not necessary. Front camera pics are fine.

Pros: very clear, u really can't tell it's there

Cons: gets greasy, not so easy to wipe away fingerprints, scratched after 2 weeks

I'm happy enuf to stay with it until I hear what people think of the PS ip4 protectors.

Yup -- was thinking about using a high-speed drill press for this, making sure the screen protector is positioned and clamped properly ;) I appreciate the advice.

Let us know how it works out.

can anyone confirm which full body protector comes without the hole for the front facing camera?

i am under the impression the ultra crystal EX does not come with the cut out for the front facing camera?

I thought SGP added the camera hole in an updated Ultra Crystal?

It takes an acquired skill to install these -- not SGP's fault. You can get a clean install, as I did.

My Ultra Cystal is very good ... I'm not sure what more I'd get from the "oil-afraid" model? Swipes are smooth and cleans with any cloth. No scratches yet.

I'll compare to Power Support when it arrives.

I agree with your cons. My first Ultra Oleophobic got scratched up really bad within minutes of me installing it. I'm not even sure how it happened either. I was walking around a store with my phone in my hands (no pockets) and when I got home there were noticeable scratches on the screen protector. I immediately took it off and installed the other one, but that one has a few minor scratches already too. I never had that problem with my PS Anti-Glare but the SGP Oleophobic is a lot more clear so I guess that's the trade-off. It does pick up fingerprints pretty easily too and I agree that they don't wipe right off (it was much easier to wipe them off of the bare screen).

I'm not exactly sure how PS can provide something better. This is as good as it's going to get, IMHO.

You're probably right but I hope they prove us wrong. If their Anti-Glare has improved to the point where there is no negative effect on the screen's clarity, that will be a winner. I doubt that will be the case though because if it was they wouldn't even need to offer a Crystal version (or vice versa).

Got ya. Yeah, I used to love their AF but once you have that "realization" that the screen just isn't as clear, then you can't go back to them. While not having to wipe down the screen is great, I find the Ole. a nice little compromise. It certainly isn't as bad as a Crystal or other similar protector.

My experience is similar. Very clear, no scratches but the greasy fingerprints are not easy to clean, it's getting annoying.

Just wanted to share my experience. I had the zagg IS dry on my ip4 for about 2 weeks. Protection wise it's great, however it had the orange peel effect and was always just slighty tacky feeling. After reading reviews and seeing the pics on this thread I orderd the Steinheil Ultra Oleophobic. All I can say is wow. The diffence is huge. No orange peel effect and it feels almost as smooth as the bare glass. Not only that but the retina display just looks like there's nothing there. I thought the IS didn't make the screen look too bad but after putting the UO on I relized how much it did affect it. Anyway that's just my experience.

urgh its all confusing!

does anyone know which full body protector does NOT come with the camera hole for the forward facing camera?

Steinheil Ultra Series Oleophobic screen protector.

My wife just purchased and installed it. She was going to get the PowerSupply Crystal based on several reviews, she opted for the Steinhell Oleophbic.

It was tricky to apply and the entire, front and back, Iphone has to be 100% spotless. She did the front first and there was so much dust that she had to take it off and put it on the back (which is still not dust free.) Once she got the hang of it, she did the front, and it is perfect. (She's a fine arts major and is good at this stuff).

Once applied, we were impressed. There was very little dulling of color or brightness and the font/images look almost as sharp as without. It definitely reduces smudges, particularly "face" smudges.

On the downside, the touch was a little sticky at first, but after a day is quite smooth. (although noticeably different than pure glass). The front and back are really two fronts. There is no camera hole in back, and I can't tell if it makes a difference yet. There are no sides for this type, and we wish there was.

Overall, she's very pleased with the protection and lack of smudges without sacrificing almost any clarity. We'd probably buy it again.
