To answer the question in the video: no, you’re not crazy for thinking it has to be attached to your phone at all times. You’re crazy for thinking its for holding your phone and wallet together on a table. In front of you.

What happens when you finish your meal, pick up your phone and leave the table? YOU PUT THE PHONE IN YOUR POCKET! You know, that exact action which you found causes the wallet to come off and fall to the ground. So now you’re still leaving your wallet in the restaurant, but instead of it being easily spotted on the table, it’s fallen to the floor unnoticed and been kicked under the chair. Great.

I don’t know how you can argue with a straight face that an attachment mechanism which fails to attach securely is anything other than terrible.

Wait a minute, this was click-bait wasn’t it? And I’ve called for it :(
To be fair I’ve never had a problem with the wallet falling off the phone. I think one YouTuber had that problem and after everyone deliberately tried to make the wallet fall off on their reviews. It’s not a perfect product but the magnet connection is not that weak in my opinion.

have used mine continuously since launch.
never had a problem with it dislodging, find it very convenient as I no longer misplace my wallet
I have no need to carry more cards / stuff

perfect for me

One of my favourite iPhone accessories. Unlike all those initial reviews, the wallet never falls off. The leather quality is great.. mine still looks in great condition.

I already needed to switch from a bulky wallet to a slim wallet, and this was a perfect option for me. I definitely don’t need to carry more than an ID card, back up credit card and store card.
Ditto! I was so worried and it has not fallen off once. It is very nice for just having my main CC and my license so I don't have to have a bulky wallet. Truly great to have around!

I bought the wallet just because I have faith in Apple building great useful products and I wanted to learn what they had in mind with this thing. At first glance it didn’t make a lot of sense and seemed like a quick accessory to show what MagSafe can do with the intention being third party companies building out the real MagSafe products. After using it for a few months, I’m obsessed with it. I too no longer use a car key, so just phone and wallet. Now it’s just my phone when the two are connected. I take it off as soon as I get home and have a wall mounted MagSafe dock built for the wallet right by my front door that I found on Etsy (highly recommend). It just makes everything so much cleaner, less likely to get lost, and easy to use. Ultimately I agree with this review. I don’t use it how you recommend, but the underlying point is everyone can make use of it differently and once you figure out what works for you, it becomes an essential. Never turning back to my old wallet. I may throw a wallet in my backpack when I travel to keep all of my cards like insurance cards, IDs, etc. but 3 cards is 1 more than I’ve ever needed. Main credit card, DL, secondary credit card (and even this is superfluous I’ve found). Put the license in the middle to solve your card damage problem and smooth out getting cards in and out. I will also note that you can fold up a couple of 20s along with 3 cards and it doesn’t make getting cards in and out more difficult like a 4th card does. Give it a shot- you won’t be disappointed unless you have some unique needs. I used to carry what I though was a small wallet with only 6-8 cards and thought that was maybe less than the bare essentials, but I was wrong. 3 cards is plenty in today’s day and age and I bet in 5 years that may even be too many. I know people are laughing at the price, but this may just be the most worth it Apple product I’ve purchased yet.

Similar experience. Use it separately. But it works well together with my mini 12. Always putting phone in my hands free, so I had to start separating it and that led to using it separately. Even with The clear iPhone MagSafe case it sticks great. I m with you on the taking things out of my pocket...no mention of the last category of escaping items....AirPods...this wallet has joined them in the moment of panic that requires systems like these to avoid...sitting out where I can see them...

I absolutely love mine. Found all I need is a driver’s license, (Apple) credit card, and health insurance card. The blue leather is a great match for my blue leather case.

I use it as a combo.
Fat wallet has all cards
this one has only 2
keep fatty in bag or car

Ok this product:
  • Week magnets and doesnt aim its own purpose: to be magnetically attached on the back of iPhone, it should not fall out of the pocket
  • Overpriced
  • Can scratch/damage credit card numbers wtf?
No matter how you put ur cards into wallet, you should not even thinking need to revert cards in order to avoid scratch/damage?
This is unbelievable, mind you buy a case that can scratch your iPhone if dont put it correctly lol?

Am I the only person who puts his phone into his pants pocket with the screen facing outwards? Meaning the MagSafe wallet faces me, meaning that even if it falls off, it drops into my pocket, not outside of it.

I got it and love it. I carry very few items so already had a minimal wallet.

I used double sided duct tape to make it more sticky on my iPhone. I realized I never have to take any of the cards out (ID and health insurance card) unless there is an accident or I get checked by the police

Depending in the country, city and companies one deals with, in some countries drivers license are going digital, insurance cards have already made the transition in some places, credit and debit cards as well along with transportation passes and so on. I honestly don't like any physical cards or cash in my pocket and I cringe when I have to carry physical cash when I travel to some countries because the infrastructure is not available. Nonetheless I adapt for that time. I have nothing with keeping safe a physical copy at home, I don't like travelling with them on a daily basis when considering we have a physical smart device in our pockets that is almost always connected.

If you don’t like it dont buy it

I agree, however I feel it can be a better designed product considering Apple pushing the Environmental angle. Leather is not Carbon Neutral, neither is producing it, shipping and selling a product that can be better.

Apple always seems bi-polar in its decisions when claiming the do good for the Environment and also as a business to please its shareholders.

I like the material, wallets are traditionally leather after all

I've bought three of them. They are convenient for me. I keep my debit card in there and rarely carry my wallet. I see the limitations, but it is very handy. For some reason it works better when attached to a case than purely naked iPhone.

Their green goals are better than many Companies but they also have disposable or unrepairable products such as the AirPods & iPad which contribute to e-waste. Pros & Cons. Not a perfect world

Agreed, way stronger on the leather case, but it makes the phone too bulky for my taste with both case & wallet. I choose either or.

Edit: oh you called it a debit card. Ok, maybe not the best thing to leave in a glove box. 😅
They call it a debit. Basically, it’s a store card that automatically charges my bank account the day after I use it, but has the perk of bonus fuel points. I learned a long time ago that credit cards aren’t good for me, and I decided giving Kroger my bank credentials was no more risky than writing a check, so that’s why we do it that way. It can only be used at Kroger and it requires a pin for every use, so your solution may actually work for my situation.

I think Apple is not unlike us human beings in that regard. They will do what they can for the environment when it is convenient for them to do so, but they are not going to bankrupt themselves in the process.

The MagSafe wallet is a niche product and will likely sell in low enough quantities that we are not going to see any appreciable reduction in the amount of pollution reduced even if Apple does switch to a more environmentally-friendly alternative.

Conversely, the iPhone ships in large enough quantities that the reduction in package size and material will be significant enough when multiplied by that many tens of millions each year, over the next many years that Apple keeps this up. Sure, some of this will be offset by the additional 20w chargers that some consumers will buy. And I just had a new nike watch band delivered to me, which entailed a lot of paper packaging for what is basically 3 rubber straps. But it should still result in a net improvement regardless.

Apple is not a very hard company to read.
