So Apple selling the new iPhone at the old price is a price increase?

I love how you figured out a way to complain about the the new iPhone not being more expensive than the old one.
Not technically a price increase, but they will get more profit since they are using old tech that already had R&D paid with the first units

According to a post from the account "yeux1122" on the Korean blog Naver...

LOL. We're digging deeper and deeper into the well to find rumors. Btw, my cousin's sister's ex-husband's gardner's friend-of-a-friend said the iPhone 14 will come in two new colors.

Thank you, thought I had missed something. Kept reading for the part where they explained why this random user on this random blog should be taken seriously, but never saw it.

If true, it's nice of Apple to not raise the base price.

Rumors are that it's the same display, SoC, everything as the previous phone except for more RAM. We'll see but it sounds like it would be hard to justify any price increase. As another commenter pointed out, Apple used to make upgrades like that every year for the same retail price.

6GB of Memory, an 50% increase.

Better Modem, x65 should be more power efficient.

My guess is that there will be front end camera improvement as well.

Apart from the possible camera improvements, which also might not be so dramatic compared to what we already have with iPhone 13, the rest is not so exciting, is it? Apple always needs to make sure the latest iOS is working well with all the iPhones being sold, which includes SE2022.

I’m willing to bet the Pro Max will be $1100
I agree or could be more. Remember when Apple released an iPhone X and Tim Cook was justifying $999 is a 'value price'. Fast forward it today, this seems to be not the case anymore. How time flies!

They need to start it at $1000 to keep the riffraff away.
That's a joke, right?

Your phone is not a status symbol.

I do miss the days when Apple was a much more exclusive club, a real tight-knit family of employees and enthusiasts working together to make the world a better place.
🤣
That is priceless.
You never disappoint.

Going by the current rumours, iPhone 14 is not likely to offer anything major to the owners of iPhone 12 or 13, apart from some camera improvements for avid photographers and a slightly cheaper Max variant.
It doesn’t sound like it offers us 11 owners much either.

The price increase is clearly in the iPhone Max replacing the iPhone Mini and using the same internals as last year to save money. Apple isn’t being benevolent here, the same market forces affect them too. Inflation is rampant.

Why would people even buy a non-pro iPhone 14? With the same cpu, you might as well get the cheaper iPhone 13 (regular or mini).

I doubt cameras can get much better, battery life won't change given the same battery tech+lithography.

All that might be left that could be slightly interesting would be some feature improvements such as:
- wi-fi 6 -> wi-fi 6e
- high accuracy gps, since android crushes iphone at this
- maybe the new wideband chip for pairing with airpod pros for lossless audio instead of BT

I'd like to see an improved GPS for urban environments with a lot of multi-path issues, but other than that... I don't see how it will be much different at all.

Edit: Using the old 13 pro SOC might make sense as a minor upgrade (+1 gpu core and 6gb vs 4gb of ram), though you'd barely notice a difference.

Keep in mind the base 13 is not actually $799, it's $829 unless you purchase with a carrier activation (which in turn requires an activation fee which is typically $30+).

I also suspect we'll see Apple drop the iPhone 13 entirely and leave the iPhone 12 at its current price as the "value" option in the lineup.

True, unless you keep your phone for many years. The extra RAM might also help with iOS support duration.

So Apple are keeping the same price point only this year customers won’t be getting the latest A series chip.

Same price whilst getting less, Apple really likes to see how much they can screw their customer base each year.

The regular iPhone should cost $649. That's what it cost every year for years until that greedy MBA suit beancounter Tim Cook decided to raise prices to please his beloved shareholders.
Raising prices is all he has done. He’s a useless douche.

Those who have seen Jurassic World Dominion, I swear they hired a Tim Cook lookalike to play the douchebag CEO of Biosyn in the film lol. Even acts like Tim Cook.
