So next year's iPhone Lineup will be a 4.7 and 5.5 inch iPhone that looks exactly like the current one, a 5 inch one that has vertical dial cameras, and another 5.5 inch with glass back, wireless charging, OLED and hologram

Apparently the "must show off the latest & greatest" crowd will get their visual evidence that they have the latest with this vertical camera: "I have the newest one- it has a vertical camera" ...because the middle size may not make it obvious enough.

And the OLED one increasingly looks like it is going to get the "pro" tag and thus pro pricing, though the OS and apps that run on it will still run exactly the same as the cheapest model (much like the Watch at $300 vs. the Watch at $17,000).

No. There won't be. Apple made it clear the 3.5 Jack is no longer warranted on their iPhones and the Airpods is their future focus with wireless. Apple wouldn't delete the 3.5 Jack off the iPhone 7 and then leave it on the updated SE (When and if it's updated.) That would be completely asinine and contradictory to there beliefs stated during the September 2016 Keynote.

Yet it was left in the newer MB just released and rumors have it staying in iPads too. Of course, we'll have to wait & see on those iPads but the MB is out and definitely has one.

I'm in a cult? More like I'm a happy customer of a company and I come to a website related to news about that company only to find a bunch of negative geeks. You switched to a Dell XPS, good for you, enjoy. I don't tell you that you're in a cult. I fix electronics for a living, I fix them all and I use them all. It's called having a preference. If you're a grown adult and don't understand that I pity you.
Well if you write the way you did, people will call it like they see it. Don't worry though, you might see the light some day and look back on these posts a bit different. I know I did.

Apples problem isn't about its clear lack of vision and innovation. That era ended years ago. The problem is if and when the competition produce USPS that become truly market leading and make the public wake up to the fact Apple ain't what they were any more. Folks are buying I phones because their friends have them. Facetime and Imessage and their familiarity with IOS. Nothing to do with new features which the competition currently can't match on those fronts. Yet. 2017 is the year of make or break. Make if Samsung etc just come up with a glorified S7 again (unlikely after the Note fiasco) or Break if Huawei etc al produce a ground breaking bezel less design and more 9 months before Apple do (likely) it's going to be an interesting year either way.

Get rid of the bezels, make a single 5.5" model with decent colour options and it's not going to be too small or too big for anyone.

if only it was so simple.

I see the light every day when removing malware from people's Windows 10 pc's or when I fix a Samsung Galaxy S7, the inside of which looks like it was designed by a 7 year old. I choose not to walk towards these lights, if those are my options I'll stay in apple purgatory.

Why is it so hard for you to accept that someone who works on all sorts of electronics finds Apple products superior? Doesn't sound like an Apple problem, it sounds like a you problem.

Maybe because fitting the dual cameras needs a slightly bigger chassis which the 5 inch one provides? This makes sense as those who dont need dual cameras would go for the smaller variant
The reason I go with a premium phone is the camera. I want dual cameras but wouldn't want to go with a shell larger than the current 4.7" body. So I'd hope that the 5" phone was the same shell size.

Apple products are superior in a lot of ways. That doesn't mean that Apple doesn't suck as a company at the moment.
As you must be aware of, Apple is a love hate relationship. Lots of people hate them and lots of people love them.

But there is an increased amount of negativity towards Apple in these forums, much more than usual, which I can tell from what you write that you can see, so Apple is clearly doing something wrong to piss off so many old faithfulls.

Also, I wasn't aware that a sales drop of 71% for the year meant the Apple Watch is 'killing it', but don't let facts get it the way of your shilling

http://arstechnica.com/apple/2016/1...the-charts-despite-idc-report-of-sales-slump/

I'll be interested to see what happens to Apple Watch sales during this quarter for Christmas.

The Apple Watch didn't even exist two years ago... so it's kinda hard to spot any trends yet. This is only the 2nd Christmas it has been available. Yes... it was down 71% in Q3 year-over-year... but maybe it will be up in Q4 due to the cheaper Series 1 and better Series 2.

Apple is not giving up on the Watch in a time when other smartwatches have a questionable future.

Pebble is gone... absorbed by FitBit for their software (really?)

Google is waiting for Q1 2017 to release the new Android Wear platform. They missed this Holiday season altogether.

It should be noted that the makers of Android Wear watches never had huge sales numbers anyway. According to Android.com... the main players are Motorola, Asus, Sony, Tag Heuer and Fossil. What a list.

The only name that jumps out at me is Motorola... but they didn't even release a new watch in all of 2016. And they recently announced that they have suspended their smartwatch plans "indefinitely"

And Motorola was the biggest. So I can't imagine any of the other Android Wear makers are feeling good vibes.

Then there's Samsung and their Gear platform... but it never sold in huge numbers either.

So yeah... Apple may be down... but it seems the other guys aren't even trying anymore.

Surely this is "fake news", as everyone has been reporting that the next iPhone is going to be the 8.

What a load of crap. First of all, FaceTime and iMessage are MAJOR features and having everyone on the same system makes them very valuable features. The competition is too fragmented to reproduce them. You underestimate how major of an accomplishment it is to get entire families on one video chat and messaging system. Especially when that system is a very reliable, secure and high quality one.

Second of all, I buy an iPhone because I like it. My iPhone 7 Plus has a camera that blows Samsungs out of the water, force touch is a feature I use a lot, and my phone is completely waterproof. Those are the features I bought it for. The competition completely and utterly failed to deliver anything this year that would even remotely make me consider switching from iPhone. Combine that with the ecosystem and the fact I have two Apple Watches, switching away just isn't in my future. That means I'm happy where I am. When I'm not happy with things, I change them.

I like their products and are buying them. So one happy customer here. And whatever innovation you think you are not seeing, seems to be continued from the jobs era.

In my opinion evolution from jobs era. Some products though , have become stagnant .

The writing has been on the wall for a long time now. I guarantee this will happen. Bookmark and revisit this in September. They've done it with the MBP's and it will happen with the new iPhones. Bank on it.

Sure, I will come back and call you out on it. Don't suddenly disappear when I do!

I think society is just becoming jaded and generally negative. And that goes far beyond technology. Apple may not always make decisions I agree with, but their products are still the best in my book and I get sheer pleasure out of using them. As long as that keeps up I'll be a loyal customer.

Hope there's a new 4-inch SE with a headphone jack.

please make it 4.2" like the blackberry z10. it's not that big. or the 4.6" like the sony xperia compact. or the full glass design without bezel, 4.7" but with a footprint as small as the iphone SE. that would be awesome.

Really, completely waterproof ... so Apple will replace your totally water-saturated iPhone on warranty ... funny stuff that ... cause even Apple won't touch a dunked phone?

I wouldn't expect anything less. I'm like that with any products I buy regularly from any particular brand.

Have you ever look at the inside of a galaxy? The inside of an iPhone is beautiful and well designed, it looks like under the hood of a brand new BMW. The galaxy phones are awkward on the inside and look like they're slapped together last minute. This is something very difficult to explain to someone who doesn't service these products and doesn't see their insides, but Apple has a certain unmatched elegance. Sad part is out of the android phones Samsung has the best interior design, I worked on a Sony Xperia this past week, NEVER AGAIN. Sony needs to never make another phone again. Absolute train wreck.

And yes, in 2017 people still get viruses. They also don't start backing up their data until after their hard drive crashes once and they lose everything. After that happens they start backing it up regularly.

I'm very confused with the rumoured lineup. I hope it isn't this messy - we will see in September.

Assuming true sounds like 4.7" is a bit too tight for significant camera improvements but Apple fears alienating 4.7" users like they did when it dropped the 4" by dropping the 4.7 for a 5". But yes, all these models and invites confusion. I would bite at a "mini" plus as the 5.5" is too big for me but I am jealous of its camera features.

In November, it reported the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus would get a new "Jet White" color that has not yet materialized.

Please, oh please stop calling it jet white. It makes about as much sense as ruby blue or emerald purple. Jet is a black color. Jet white is an oxymoron. If there is a rumor for a new glossy white color, call it pearl or, heaven forbid, glossy white.

Remember when they said there would be two 5.5 iPhone 7, a Plus and Pro? The iPhone 7s 5 inch is likely to replace 4.7 while keeping the SE as the only 4 inch iPhone.

Supreme white.

Who cares about the INSIDE of a phone? I certainly don't go inside, and everyone else (except you, apparently) doesn't either. Just because it's "pretty" inside doesn't mean it works better or is more reliable. With regards to the BMW, it's not exactly the most reliable car. I probably see more "BMW Courtesy Cars" driving around our city than most (except for Mercedes-Benz). I always find it interesting that dealerships put their names on their Courtesy Cars, when in reality it means "Another (insert brand) owner with their car in the shop"!
