Well if it's SO waterproof, as both you and Apple contend ... why isn't Apple covering water damage under normal warranty i.e. without the need for AppleCare?
Lmao what an idiotic thing to ask me. How the hell am I supposed to know?

Who cares about the INSIDE of a phone? I certainly don't go inside, and everyone else (except you, apparently) doesn't either. Just because it's "pretty" inside doesn't mean it works better or is more reliable. With regards to the BMW, it's not exactly the most reliable car. I probably see more "BMW Courtesy Cars" driving around our city than most (except for Mercedes-Benz). I always find it interesting that dealerships put their names on their Courtesy Cars, when in reality it means "Another (insert brand) owner with their car in the shop"!
The design of the interior of a device that no one will see but repair technicians is a reflection of a company's values and overall philosophy. If a design is lazy and poorly thought out on the inside, the outside is just lipstick on a pig.

If only I could tell you how many people break the charging port on their horribly designed Galaxy S5 but to repair it doesn't make sense because the charging port is connected to the soft touch buttons which are located under the LCD screen. The screen is held on only by a strong adhesive and is very easy to break in the removal process. If you end up having to replace the LCD along with the charging port it's not even financially worth it. These people end up upgrading to the S7 and then complaining how slow it is after 6 months. With all that carrier bloatware it's no wonder.

Tim Cook really is messing everything up.Now we got 4 thats right FOUR different iPhones all with varying functionality and sizes.Want OLED and wireless,go for the anniversary edition,Want dual lens on an LCD on a phone not a dinner plate?Go for the 5 inch iPhone.Want more RAM than the smaller iPhone but lesser than the anniversary edition but no OLED?Go for the 7S Plus Want a new design?Go for the anniversary edition as the others are just rehashes.I really miss the days when we had a no nonsense SINGULAR flagship
spec of 2017 iphones are not known yet, so...
Even Samsung doesnt fragment their lineup like this. Its really looking like Timmy is throwing anything and everything at the wall in desperation to see what sticks and stop the tanking sales. My guess is the OLED iPhone isnt getting enough OLEDs from Samsung as they got their own flagships OLEDs to worry about too.Hence fragment the LCD lineup and make even more money
When I go to Samsung(.com/fr) website I see 20 references : s7, s7 edge, s5 new, s6 edge+, s6 edge, note 4, A5 2016, A3 2016, A7, A5, A3, j7 2016, j5 2016, j3 2016, j1 2016, j5, j1, Xcover 3, grand prime, core prime

I think some tend to treat rumors as "facts".

Jesus, why? This is even more fragmentation. Honestly, look at the MacBook Pro and iPad lineups, and it's clear how these guys have absolutely no idea what to do.
Calm down, so far this is just a totally unsubstantiated rumour. Having a 4.7", 5.0" and 5.5" phone seems unlikely. On the other hand, you call it fragmentation, but is it? If Apple sold iPhones from 4.0" to 6.5" in 0.1" steps, what problems would that cause? As a software developer, I can tell you "none whatsoever".

I'm waiting for the 8. However, If this was released a few months ago, I would have gotten this. It has the dual camera setup that I want and the right size. I think the 5.5 was too big and heavy once I put a battery case on it and honestly didn't think the camera was much better than my 6S.

5.0 inches now? Damn, I was really hoping for a lineup with 4.9" and 5.1" sizes. Oh well, maybe next year.

In all seriousness, I think their lineup should be something like this:

5.7" (losing bezels so the case stays similar to or smaller than the current 5.5")
4.7" (losing bezels for a case smaller than the current 4.7")
Smaller SE no longer needed since the 4.7" wouldn't be much larger.

Nobody really wants the 4" screen size, but many people want the case size of the iPhone 5 (and unfortunately that case size only comes with a 4" screen). I think without bezels you could fit the 4.7" screen into the iPhone 5 case. I think they could keep the names and the case sizes while giving everyone a larger screen.

Hope there's a new 4-inch SE with a headphone jack.
And a better camera, and a reasonable amount of RAM. Course I also hope I hit the Powerball jackpot, so...

Include me in the group of nobodies.

I held my old iPhone 4 yesterday (and no, you can't hold and use any current iPhone with one hand unless you're in the NBA) and it's absolutely the right size. I know for a fact that there are a lot of other nobodies out there.

As long as there's a new design and it's not called iPhone 7S for the flagship model. Otherwise the Note 8 will be flying off the shelves. I can count on Samsung not to mess up 2 years in a row.

Why did they keep the headphone jack on their new laptops then?
Laptops and phones are different products. I use different headphones on my laptop and on my phone. Laptop: High end open headphones that let all the sound of the environment in; used at home in a quiet environment. Phone: Smallest and lightest headphones possible; noise cancelling to be used in a loud environment (walking, train or underground, airplane). Wireless makes the headphones lighter.

It's waterproof if you use it as intended, and has some survival chance if you don't use it as intended. If it gets wet inside, then you didn't use it as intended and it's not covered by warranty. (Samsung had to learn that the hard way, they replaced quite a few phones under warranty that in my opinion had been used by reckless idiots and shouldn't have been replaced).

Depends on perspective. Step back in time to when Apple had one size and Android had many sizes. "We" bashed android phones to no end with screen size-driven "fragmentation" as one of "our" top reasons. So, with Android, a variety of screen sizes back then was definitely "abominations", "99% don't need...", gimmicky, etc... and those larger than 4" were way to big, only made for giants, and ridiculed: "one handed use" + "pants with bigger pockets" + "man purses."

Then, Apple rolls out a couple of sizes and all that sentiment evaporates. Apparently screens bigger than 4" are fine because "we" purchased them in record numbers. Apparently, screen size fragmentation is no issue because...

If Apple sold iPhones from 4.0" to 6.5" in 0.1" steps, what problems would that cause? As a software developer, I can tell you "none whatsoever".

Apparently, at least one of our hands grew or gained Plasticman powers. And those pants with bigger pockets makers are just so innovative & creative because they blend right in with the regular pants such that I can't seem to spot them. Similarly, I don't see any surging prevalence of those man purses either.

In summary, "our" rationalizations seem to roll with whatever Apple wants to offer. Differences make no sense when Apple doesn't appear to endorse them but make perfect sense when they do... or come around to offering the same. Are our opinions OUR opinions or are they Apple's opinions echoed as if they are ours? (rhetorical because we already know that answer for many of us).

I said screen size vs. case size. I like the small case of the iPhone 5, but I'd also like the larger screen of the iPhone 6/6s/7. You wouldn't like an iPhone 5 with bezels removed giving you an iPhone 6 sized screen?

You know, when I first read “vertical aligned cameras” I was thinking it was to fix the vertical video problem. That would be brilliant.

Unfortunately manufacturers still stick their head in the sand. I think there’s quite a ways they could go about it.

Yup... Seems like we are back in the Sculley era

When Jobs returned to Apple in 1997, it was producing a random array of computers and peripherals, including a dozen different versions of the Macintosh. After a few weeks of product review sessions, he’d finally had enough. “Stop!” he shouted. “This is crazy.” He grabbed a Magic Marker, padded in his bare feet to a whiteboard, and drew a two-by-two grid. “Here’s what we need,” he declared. Atop the two columns, he wrote “Consumer” and “Pro.” He labeled the two rows “Desktop” and “Portable.” Their job, he told his team members, was to focus on four great products, one for each quadrant. All other products should be canceled. There was a stunned silence. But by getting Apple to focus on making just four computers, he saved the company. “Deciding what not to do is as important as deciding what to do,” he told me. “That’s true for companies, and it’s true for products.”

Does this forecast the next, next iPhone with a 3 cameras- dual vertical & dual horizontal (L-Shape lens configuration)?

And the next, next, next, next one with 4 cameras: the quad camera iPhone 11?

Or by the next, next, next one will the camera be jettisoned out to an accessory add-on (sold separately of course) rationalized by spin like cameras are an even older technology than 3.5mm jack, the clash of the protruding wart(s) vs. the relentless quest to thin-thin-thin-thinner (blamed solely on the camera manufacturers of course), etc?

;)

Im confused... will there be a iPhone 8 or an iPhone 7s?! Isnt it the 10th anniversary of the iPhone?

Other than the people who visit MR and other Apple related forums on the internet, the vast majority of iPhone users do not know/ do not care if it is the Xth anniversary or not. I just hope Apple keeps its eyes on delivering the best product it can this year; instead of getting distracted with any "Anniversary Edition" badging by adding leather and chrome.

Clarity. Totally. ^^^
This is in line with Ockham's razor principle: "entities must not be multiplied beyond necessity"

Or, similarly, the quotation attributed to Einstein (although possibly apocryphal): "everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler."

I had a Nexus 5X as a backup phone for a while. I like the size of the 5" phone. The Plus is way too big for me.

I would want a 5" iPhone and it its bezel less, it would be more like 5.3". I would totally buy that
