I know how you feel. Started to diversify and not all in with their ecosystem anymore. However I will never fully go out. Tim isn't Steve and it shows. Apple needs a new direction and leader.
Kinda difficult to leave when you got so much invested in apps and thousands of dollars in Apple hardware.Tim Cook really seems to have run out of ideas. We need some fresh new thinkers in the company not afraid to break boundaries

Maybe because fitting the dual cameras needs a slightly bigger chassis which the 5 inch one provides? This makes sense as those who dont need dual cameras would go for the smaller variant

That would make sense if this rumour was implying the 4.7" model would be replaced with a 5" model. Then it would make perfect sense although don't forget Apple has deliberately designed the iPhone to be the size it is.

The entire reason they invented the iPhone Plus and the iPad Pro was to raise the price by $100 though. It's one of the reasons they keep having such high profits

You mean the features like better screens. Pencil support and faster storage and USB 3 interfaces and more powerful graphics and CPUs didn't do anything to justify the price increase?
The iPad Pro was launched as a direct competitor to the Surface Pro and all its variants, the iPhone Plus was also launched to compete with all the big screen Android phones, they are both Apples answer to the market and its competitors and neither were built purely just to raise the price tag.

I hope they don't forget about the SE form factor. I don't want to have to stick to my SE forever. I've had a 5, 5S and SE and I could probably go another round with the same housing plus performance/battery improvements. It would be nice to see a totally new 4 inch design though. Maybe a 16:9, stretched looking iPhone 4S thing.

Yep, hence the emoticon.

I'm not sure this isn't a stupid idea. Maybe they have some marketing research to back up what they want to go?

Running a company like Steve ballmer isn't bad. For all the negative press Microsoft grew under his reign.
[doublepost=1482833539][/doublepost]
There are some "legit" complaints but also a lot of "hit and run" nonsense.

Steve ballmer was great for profits, at the expanse of innovation though. Apple is doing really well profit wise, and Tim seems as clueless about product as Steve ballmer, though they both brought in the $$$. Tim does not need to be a product guy, but there needs to be someone....thinner is not a company vision in my opinion

Is Gil or Sculley working there now? Soon they will start calling them Performa with a number after them.

So......the 7s '5 inch' will no doubt shift to the current 7+ pricing and i'll have to shell out an extra couple hundred for the 5.5 inch to stick with my current size. Apple ***** me lately. It would be nice to see the 5 inch pricing sit in between the current 4.7 and 5.5 pricing but i can't imagine for the life of me it will. Screw you apple.
They haven't done anything yet. Hold your "Screw you Apple" until September when it means something.

Why did they keep the headphone jack on their new laptops then?
Most likely because they have different teams working on their own thing at Apple without any overarching vision or goal. It's clear there is no strong leadership at the company these days simply by looking at the mess of products.

Tim Cook ran out of Steve Jobs' ideas a long time ago, and now just releases different sized devices. He realised that the huge iPad Pro was not a big seller, so with the iPhone his big idea is to create a new size between medium and large. Such creativity!

In 3 years, we will have the iPhone in half inch increments from 3.5 to 5.5. Five different sizes from Pipeline Tim.

And when does your masterpiece hit the market? My money is waiting for you. No? Think I'll probably get an iPhone instead then.

You're already swearing and saying 'screw you Apple' for a product that hasn't even been released yet and you haven't even confirmed the specs or pricing, how sad.

The writing has been on the wall for a long time now. I guarantee this will happen. Bookmark and revisit this in September. They've done it with the MBP's and it will happen with the new iPhones. Bank on it.

Why can't they just release the same model but in different sizes. I don't understand why that's so hard for Apple to do.

They really have no idea what their customers want. They've truly lost touch.

I really miss the times when it was just one iPhone.

Now we have 3 iPhone sizes and rumours of a 4th?! Not to mention a new colour every year.

Keep the iPhone line up simple, and focus on making it as good as it could possibly be!

Love how with every RUMOR a certain percentage here on MR loses their minds!

Man, this forum is filled with the whiniest bunch of people I've ever seen and it just keeps getting worse.
[doublepost=1482824636][/doublepost]
Can all of you people who threaten to switch just do it already so we don't have to deal with your constant whining on Mac forums?
Wow did you pull these quotes out of my head? Pretty much what I think every time I log on.

Article headline 'Vertical,' photo shows horizontal...
Guess what... there was no vertical design available and it totally makes sense to post the news before doing a useless mockup.
They showed the status quo. What is you problem?

I doubt they will bring up a 5" next to 4.7". Maybe they will use more of the device for bigger screen.

Hope there's a new 4-inch SE with a headphone jack.
Not gonna happen.
There are more than enough phones for people who like to live in the past.

I like their products and are buying them. So one happy customer here. And whatever innovation you think you are not seeing, seems to be continued from the jobs era.

Come september none of this srumors will be true. Apple is goingto release another iPhone 6 with minor spec bumps.. Aka the iPhone 7S.... Nothing new nothing excited, yet Apple will call it the best iPhone they ever made... LOL iPhone 8 Oled my butt.. LOL

He is squarely to blame for Microsoft's pathetic marketshare both in mobile and tablets.A CEO with a vision like Jobs wouldnt have laughed at the iPhone and iPad .Had he acted in time, there would be no Android.Instead Microsoft would have been the one rolling in the money instead of Google .MS lost a metric ton of profits due to a lack of foresight

Tim Cook really is messing everything up.Now we got 4 thats right FOUR different iPhones all with varying functionality and sizes.Want OLED and wireless,go for the anniversary edition,Want dual lens on an LCD on a phone not a dinner plate?Go for the 5 inch iPhone.Want more RAM than the smaller iPhone but lesser than the anniversary edition but no OLED?Go for the 7S Plus Want a new design?Go for the anniversary edition as the others are just rehashes.I really miss the days when we had a no nonsense SINGULAR flagship

Even Samsung doesnt fragment their lineup like this. Its really looking like Timmy is throwing anything and everything at the wall in desperation to see what sticks and stop the tanking sales. My guess is the OLED iPhone isnt getting enough OLEDs from Samsung as they got their own flagships OLEDs to worry about too.Hence fragment the LCD lineup and make even more money
Not really. Microsoft needed ballmer to move them forward into a giant and he did just that.

It's my opinion I like the iPhone and you're opinion you don't. Okay next.

Samsung does fragment their lineup and had 3 phones this year until the note 7 fiasco, releases multiple watches. So don't tell me they don't fragment. And when they (Apple)release something the features are supported on flagships going forward(which hasn't been the case in the past with other manufacturers)

Do what you think is best Tim.

WTF? iphone 7s? same design after many years? in a 10th year anniversaty? great job apple. steve would fall in love again....

seriosly i change to other smartphone brands. iphone 7 is my last iphone i think. :/

Steve Ballmer made MS boatloads of cash while he slowly killed it.

Also, I wasn't aware that a sales drop of 71% for the year meant the Apple Watch is 'killing it', but don't let facts get it the way of your shilling

http://arstechnica.com/apple/2016/1...the-charts-despite-idc-report-of-sales-slump/
Being that Apple hasn't released sales figures and IDC basically pulls them out of their ass, combined with the fact the Series 2 is back ordered through January, gives me the feeling it's doing just fine.

Jesus, why? This is even more fragmentation. Honestly, look at the MacBook Pro and iPad lineups, and it's clear how these guys have absolutely no idea what to do.

Actually the pattern of innovation(?) seems pretty clear: let's make the same thing with a different screen size. Apparently the infamous pipeline is full of all of the stuff from SJ's time made a little larger or a little smaller.

The cult part is your complete intolerance for a dissenting opinion after choosing to read a public forum.
It's not your dissenting opinion that's the issue, it's your arrogance. Plus the fact you hang around Apple forums just to complain about how much you hate Apple. There's a term for people like that but the mods don't let us use it.
[doublepost=1482842978][/doublepost]
Can you stop undermining people's LEGIT complaints about Apple products?
You can't have legit complaints about unreleased products.

Where else are you going to go for your 4" phone?
My current phone is a 4.7" iPhone and haven't decided yet if I am going to get another. Chances are I will, but my head isn't there yet if that makes any sense, I think Apple sucks at the moment.
