Only the losers would mention the winners in their ad...
Do we see BMW mention Cadillac in their ad?
This is what happens when Samsung tries to be original.
Not comedy but frustration at my Apple crappy phone. This must be comedy otherwise this comment is so "out there", that you must live on Tatooine and frequent the Cantina assiduously.
"Not all smartphones are created equal...we tried"
Now that Apple has larger phones, Samsung is really running out of things to feel superior in. Its not that the S6 takes better pictures, the pictures are wider [not sure if this is an aspect ratio thing]. Comparative advertising is a fools errand.
I've tried everything including a factory reset and setting up as a new phone. It gets stuck in landscape mode multiple times a day, frequently I dial a number and it wont connect, the screen freezes up, the camera switches to HDR and square and video on its own, it is now sending my texts to the WRONG person, the wireless frequently decides to quit working, email wont download, Siri is completely worthless at recognizing my commands, and more. Never had these problems before with my 4, 4s, 5, 5s. My wife's phone is 5 months newer than mine and is also experiencing a lot of the same problems. It may be an iCloud problem. Try turning it off. Then take it into the store if that doesn't work.
Apple got something messed up here, but I don't think it's a problem with the hardware itself most of the time. In other words, it should be fixable. If not they usually replace your phones, under warranty - even if you don't have Apple Care. But don't wait too long until your warranty is up.
I mean, you're at MacRumors. That should say everything.
I don't mind the idea of using ad time to directly compare your product with your rival's, but Samsung chooses the dumbest features to highlight. The side of the phone lights up? Wider selfies?
Wireless charging is cool. I'll give them that.
Apple has done the exact same thing on a myriad of occasions. They've bashed Microsoft, the PC, the Zune, android, among other things. They've also taken shots at Android at their iPhone events too. Making fun of the competition isn't a Samsung thing. If it had been the GS6 that suffered from "bendgate" you better believe Phil Schiller would've had some smart ass comment to make.
Having never used it, I don't understand wireless charging's appeal. How is it so much better than plugging a cable in, and is it just as fast? Right now it seems like it would be more expensive to implement and more expensive to use (buy the chargers and/or have one readily available). I'm asking a serious question here - what am I missing?
Apple was the underdog when they made fun of Microsoft and the PC.
And today... 8 out of 10 smartphones sold are NOT made by Apple. Again... underdog.
But Samsung sells more smartphones than any other company on Earth.
So I guess Samsung is threatened by Apple... Apple must be doing something right.
You know which other phone has an edge that displays nothing? The Galaxy S6. You know, the other phone made by the same people. Is Samsung saying that the S6 is useless because it doesn't have an edge display too? Hopefully it has a vibrate function!
I really don't understand the decisions with the S6 models. Waterproofing was a great idea and they made a big fuss about it with the S5, but then removed the feature for the S6. Not that important then?
What about having a replaceable battery? Again, they made a big fuss about how the iPhone has a built in battery, but not here.
What about removable storage? Hey, the iPhone has never taken cards, but Samsung does... until this generation.
We all know about the bending thing, too.
I've raised some of these points before and people have said "Well, if you want those, you can still get the S5." I'm afraid that solution isn't really going to work for everyone. If you think a feature is important, and make a huge fuss about it, expect some questions when you remove that feature with the very next phone that you make.
Really bizarre decisions and marketing from Samsung, to be honest. Don't get me wrong, Apple makes some strange decisions too.
Agreed. The ONLY time wireless charging would have some appeal is when charging stations are everywhere. When your local coffee shop table is a potential charging area it will be super convenient to just put your phone down and start charging. Until the rest of the real world follows, it's just another gimmick and no different or convenient to plugging a physical cable in.
