Android fans are so quiet today...

they must have to digest so much headline news today:
1) Samsung killed the King, Note 7
2) Iphone 7 plus beats Note 7 on almost every performance categories, including battery usage.

Note 7 had so much potential on "paper". the only thing it does not have is cooking breakfast for you.

oops, I just realize that Note 7 can also cook breakfast for you... once.

People in Samsung are stupid after all, they haven't learned a single thing from apple.
If it was apple, there would be no halt in sales, they would simply come out and say
"you charging it wrong" and that would be the end of it, hell maybe they gave a case from non flammable material and that's that. :p

More like Samsung was engineering, building and testing the Note 7 wrong. But hey let's focus on what Apple might have done because their phones certainly aren't putting people's lives at risk.

Maybe you should have suggested to Samsung to include a non flammable case that they could have included with every Note 7. Imagine how that could have turned out.

Samsung kills Note 7, "the King"
iphone 7 beats Note 7 from Anantech's review. Some android fans said anantech is biased because the founder works for apple. but they got no other technical-detail review to claim.

We need Samsung to survive this so that they can keep Apple in check.

missing Gold and Jet black. Next year?

I'd say the majority of Apple fans around here would be happy if Apple had no serious competition even if it slowed innovation way down. It's more about corporate wealth then innovation for many around here.

This whole episode might just motivate Samsung more though so I wouldn't count them out just yet. They might throw everything they've got and then some into the S8 product line. Never count the Asian companies out when they are down.

"...Samsung will ask all carrier and retail partners globally to stop sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note7 while the investigation is taking place..."

after all carriers announced stopping replacing Note 7 over the weekend, Samsung came out on Monday, a day later, and said this.

so not only S8 can burns as its predecessor, it will be able to electrically shock you wirelessly within 1 feet.

Almost happened to me. Mine was vibrating real hard. Best Buy bought it back thankfully.

I agree. Going forward any mention of the Note will be associated with memories a phone that's potentially dangerous to property and life, and, how Samsung botched dealing with the situation.

May even go deeper than just the Note.
Luckily you get a $25 gift card towards a non explosive Samsung phone. Wow /s

Wait, you mean Samsung wasn't throwing everything and then some at the Note product line. If they weren't then who's fault is that. Maybe Samsung should have been more interested in producing a safe quality product then being concerned about beating Apple on its product launch. Samsung had a prefect opportunity to rectify the product with the first recall but instead botched they that too. That was their learning opportunity and they failed. Do some people really not understand the magnitude of that issue. It isn't about a few incidents it is what those possible incidents could do, like endanger people's lives on airplanes.

We have a Samsung washing machine. Horrible machine, my wife curses it every time she uses it. The loads always go off balance, and the machine stops, takes hours to get one load done. Maybe it will blow up next and solve my problem.
Also have a Samsung refrigerator that is only 3 years old, and the seals on the door are falling apart. I will never buy another Samsung product.

If only Apple can increase the iPhone 7plus production rates. When people return their note 7, stores need to have inventory to replace them with iPhone 7+.

Ignoring all the jokes and whatnot, this is actually a pretty big deal. Good thing Samsung are taking action, but one has to wonder whether it's too late. From a PR standpoint, that is. Obviously it's bad, but how bad, only time will tell I guess.

Good thing is that the material damages, while substantial, haven't been any more severe.
I am an apple fan but feel pretty bad for the note users. Some are seriously hurt, some lost their personal possessions.

On the other hand, I have a crazy neighbor so I kind of want to buy him an early Christmas present.

some even sold their Note 4/5 to finance Note 7. Now they are phoneless and lost money when they sold old Note.
