I was one of the few people who actually called the bending a design flaw when the story first broke while everyone else and made excuses. I'm not a blind Apple follower where I can't see apples own flaws. Check the post history. It's a design flaw, or a bad batch. I'm willing to put money where my mouth is and bet Apple will do the right thing and issue free replacements

Shots fired.

But let's be honest, Apple fanboys have been mocking the quality of Android devices for years. Just a little time for a little revenge.

My advice: haters gonna hate and benders gonna bend.

Now THAT IS actually funny.. Kudos (as it is true :D)

This was expected... this is going to be a hard time to be a Apple fan.

But seriously though, how hard is it to take out your iPhone when you sit down. The phone only bends if you are sitting for long periods. Sitting down with a iPhone 6 Plus is uncomfortable if anything. Who drives with an iPhone in there pocket for long distances, just take it out and put it somewhere in the car.

Oh get off it. So every time people want to sit, according to you, they should take their phone out of their pocket? For a $1000 device made by a company that claim they put the user experience above all else?

If instead it was Samsung's latest phablet which had issues bending when you sit down with it in your pocket, I'd be willing to bet you'd be the first to throw stones and laugh how they'd rush out products without having an Apple-like Quality Assurance process. Or mockingly scoff that they made a large-screen product without considering how that would affect its structural integrity.

Apple f*cked up, big time. Stop defending them.

HTC's is brilliant, made me chuckle.

The funny thing is, the HTC One can bend under duress in much the same way.

If some random Android unit has issues, would anyone outside a small number of users even know or care?

"Apple reportedly is looking into the issue "with an insane amount of detail."

Huh? This wasn't done during development and testing? Oh I forgot, this is how it must have done down at Apple..

Cook/Schiller : Jony, we think the phone is too thin.. perhaps increase the thickness for some more rigidity?

Jony : "When a produkt is held in your hands, it should become seamless and invisible even to the user so all he sees is the intent of the produkt and not the produkt itself..."

Cook/Schiller : Well jony.. stop.We get it.. okay okay...lets stick with what we got.

That... made... me... laugh so hard... wow! :D

Wow... denial much? Apple has more cash than any company in the world, you truly believe they wouldn't do the same, or haven't?

Actually, I do, because a company that depends to such a large extent on the value of its brand will do everything to protect this value. Paying people for reviews apparently did not hurt Samsung, because frankly, their phones do not sell on brand value. Ask people on the street if they know that this happened, and most of them will shrug. If Apple does it and it is uncovered, people will still remember it years later.

I used to work for a company that at the time was considered to have one of the top five most valuable brand names in the world, and every employee was given extremely strict rules on what you couldn't do in order not to tarnish the brand.

HTC makes a brilliant phones. I just didn't expect them to go as low as this. I don't like mocking others etc. especially when we're talking about otherwise extremely great and well made products.

Luckily my iPhone 6 arrives soon to replace my HTC One M8. #Bendgate

^Had to write that just for the sake of it.

anxiously waiting for my iPhone 6 plus and already have the apple leather case prepared for it. We still have to giggle a bit though :cool:but otherwise still Apple rules.

Android dominates the global market share, you are right. On an individual phone basis, iPhone dominates. For example, the 2 new iPhones sold 10 million units in 3 days. It took the Galaxy S5, Samsung's best seller, 25 days to sell that many, despite being released in 140 more countries. I'd say there is a clear leader.

I disagree. If the GS5 was the only Android phone, then cool. But the Galaxies compete with several other phones. Android provides choice.

iOS is ONLY on Apple phones.

For example, one can probably say the Macbook Pros or iMacs are the single best selling laptops/desktops if you went by model alone. But on a global basis, Windows obliterates it.

it's not going to bend in your pocket or book bag unless you subject it to extreme force, just like macbook airs and ipad minis bend in book bags. If you have loose pants or don't sit recklessly, it should be fine.

They're not going to suspend sales or anything crazy, people were calling for it with antennagate too.
Good to know, thanks! I guess I'm playing into the paranoia of this whole issue. And you're right, my iPad hasn't received a scratch in my book bag let alone bend hahaha.

Maybe "bendgate" is manufactured and really doesn't exist. I'll just not worry about it and enjoy my Plus when it arrives in November. :D :)

Maybe I'm lucky, but I have a Galaxy Note I bought nearly the launch date (late-2011) and it never cracked. I don't use any case and sometimes I drop it.

It's a great device.

What I don't get is why some of our field engineers are issued notes, when they wear them on clips, or in pockets while doing physical work such as crawling through tunnels, ladders, moving heavy objects, etc.. I think a waterproof S4 or S5 in rubber cases should be the only phone that department gets, but it's not my call ;) .

You can feel the defensiveness coming from the competition. Samsung's Note ads on day 1 and now this. Bigger screen iPhones are the death of Android popularity. Geeks will still want 15 home screens and 8 custom clocks, but the vast majority of people want a beautiful product with an OS that is simple and works well most of the time.

Android is complicated mess of carrier bloatware, manufacturer software skins, inconsistent OS updates, and overthought feature-clutter. Yuck.

A handful of idiots lack some common sense and abuse their new phone and now it's bendgate. I really hate how things like this get out of control so easily. :(

I'd say, that a phone bending in your pocket is a big deal. I tell you, Apple is already improving the structure for 6plus S, as we speak/write.

Apple made a solid ****-up to make the phone lighter, and everyone is mokcing them. It's fair, it's funny and unfortunately also true.

Life of a billion dollar business

If you put the phone vertically into your front pocket, it's not going to bend. That's why they're bending the phones with their hands or with machines. They know they're not going to get a result if they actually put the phone in their front pocket and sat down.

They are very different issues. There isn't any hope that the bending issue will be solved by software.

Antennagate wasn't solved by software either. Unless those free bumper cases were software.

Nice try, though. Thanks for playing.
