If you ever wondered why the Apple Fanboy is so ridiculed the Internet over, one read of this thread will end those wonders. Just when you think you read the nuttiest comment, another one comes twice as bad. Wow, you just can't script this stuff. Lmao! I say we all should have to use a Facebook account or something that shows who we really are. I need to put a face to the comments. Looooool....

You got any proof to back up your statement that isn't circumstantial? Yeah, it's possible they aped Apple before Apple had anything to ape, but considering Samsung's love of experimenting with multiple screen sizes, it could equally be them just trying something new out.

I thought that was a pretty good example of sarcasm. You are usually much more perceptive. (New poster, long time lurker). Fan of your work. <- not sarcasm.

Having tried out a Surface Pro it has the potential perhaps but it's not there.

How is it not there? It has literally the exact same specs as a 13" Cintiq with a higher resolution screen. The same pressure sensitivity (1024 levels), the same response time, even about the same pen. The only difference is that the Cintiq is 2 inches larger.

Hey, always good to hear from a fan. :D

...though like I said to Sam, sometimes it's hard to tell when people are being sarcastic around here. Poes Law and all. :p

Well someone did a survey on MacRumors asking age and iPhone and I think the average age, of MacRumors posters, calculated out to be about 19.5 years - that should pretty much answer your question.

Just teenagers wantin' to show off their Apple wares to the world.

Useless with only 7 tablet optimized apps in goolge play...

Why have only 1 tablet optimized app when you can have 4 phone apps on screen at the same time? That little detail works in favor of Samsung. That’s like fitting 4 iPhones on display at the same time.

Jesus..... you singing this same ignorant refrain is getting tedious. The first rumor of this broke here months and months and months ago! Please stop. Here: using the internet search engine, "Google", turned up this EXACT same 12.9" rumor that is currently being bandied about.... from last July. http://mashable.com/2013/07/22/apple-larger-ipad-iphone/
So..... do i believe that Samsung's R&D department could've AFTER hearing that Apple was most likely going to produce a larger iPad, produced a single pre-production prototype to show at an electronics show, a full six months later.. so far ahead of mass production that they don't even have an estimated price yet?
Why yes.... yes I do.

That's one reason. The other, and this is my totally subjective opinion, is that smartwatches just aren't all that appealing. By the mere fact of size, they have to be supplementary devices, meant to be paired with something larger and more capable. There's just not much you can do with one standalone.

Now I'm sure they have their market, but even the much ballyhooed iWatch, which may or may not change everything forever, and force us to redefine our current concept of reality, won't be the second coming of the smartphone.

I agree. I just don’t find myself going back to wearing a watch. My wrist has been free since 2010 and wearing a watch is not appealing to me. But if a product was released at a rock bottom price and if it does offer convenience of not whipping out my phone every time I might give it a try. I don’t see Apple doing a $50 smart watch but I do see Google doing one.

just the multitasking feature of 2+ apps on this new samsung tablet makes it much much much usefull in everyday usage.
Actually, when it comes to productivity(even the basic ones) in comparison to windows and Android tablets, iPad is, like it or not, slowly becoming the village idiot of tablets.

I find it odd that so people want larger phones but smaller tablets. I just don't get it.

It's about finding the golden middle between portability and screen size. You want the biggest display that can still fit in your pocket (or purse). For tablets, that means getting smaller. For phones, that means getting bigger.

I have no opinion on who copied who, but lets not forget what was shown during the court cases between Samsung and Apple. Apple has historically made a larger Prototype iPad, this one is from 2002 .

Wold love device that size, even in the classic iBook polycarbonate look, just not that thick! ;)

I agree Multitasking is great, however, not everyone needs or wants it, so Apple's current system works fine for them.

What a user likes, often depends on each person's workflow. I have a 10.1, but honestly don't multitask on it much (nor use the device much for that matter). That said, I don't expect others to have the exact same workflow I have, nor use the same applications.

I am sure Apple will have what the Android fans call "true multitasking" down the road. With the switch to 64Bit processing, and likely much more memory in the future, how can they not consider it?

I just can't wait until all the other parents at my kids' orchestra recital are holding up those things in front of me to videotape their little Timmy's performance. </s>

What about the kids using these tablets for their music sheets? :) A lot of people actually do want these for the A4 and PDF size that the iPad Air doesn't provide.

If it's got a few clever features, I might consider buying one. But the way I see it, the only thing Apple is going to be able to offer over the Samsung watch is a little more style and ergonomics, since that's what they do best. But as far as features go, it's gonna be about the same. It'll tell the time, check your email, maybe ding off your reminders, and possibly offer some Nike+ bells and whistles. For the moment anyway, there's not much else you can do in that size of a device beyond that.

It'll look good on your wrist, but it won't change the world.

Samsung's strategy in mobile electronics can be summed up in three ways:

1) Try and see what Apple has in the pipeline and get it out before they do

2) Introduce 50 different size variations of basically the same thing and see which sticks

3) Develop gimmicky software features to distinguish products from the other me-too products in the market

You forget that it is this precise strategy (especially #2 and #3) that makes Samsung the only company besides Apple to reap in profits from making phones; while all others (Microsoft, Blackberry, Nokia) are either gone or struggling.

I would have agreed a month ago. I have been watch "free" save for some special occasions for well over 2 years. However on an impulse (because there was a ridiculous sale) I got a Pebble. Love it. Why? Because it's MORE than enough info/functionality for me. I usually have my phone on mute at work and at home. So just being able to have my wrist vibrate when I have a call or email (which I can see who's calling/emailing and determine if I will read/pickup). And now that it's cold here in NYC - it's nice to not dig the phone out of my pocket to check the time.

Do I NEED the Pebble? No. But I'm enjoying it. I would never buy something that had so much more functionality. I don't want to do thinks on my wrist. A few simple notifications is great. Long LONG battery life is important.

I'll leave the feature-rich smart watches to the dick tracey's :)

Oh, I think the Google/Android/Chrome and Samsung fanboys are just as bad! Give me a break! :p

The process:
1) rumors say apple is working on a product
2) samsung rushes to bring out that product first
3) quality sucks, scamsung fails, product dies for a few months
4) apple announces their product and everyone turns their attention to it, product succeeds
5) scamsung refreshes their product to make it more apple-like and steals market share

I love a good satire with corporate name-calling thrown in too!

I read the first page of replies. Sounds like a bunch of scared Apple fanboys. Its like if Samsung release a product after Apple they're just copying, but if they release before, they're still just copying somehow. Its laughable to see those reactions to the competition. Hopefully the rest of the thread is more level headed.

I for one am happy about this. I like competition. I think that all these Samsung tablets just make Apple make better stuff in the long run. Which makes Samsung make better stuff in the long run. Which makes Apple.... see what I did there? Its good for all of us.

Samsung stuff isn't all bad either. While I MUCH prefer my iPads to my Android tablets, I'd take my Note 2 any day of the week over my iPhone 5s (my work assigned phone).
