Take that Apple

:p However, if true

So, "not designed for optimal efficiency, and hard to hold for long periods ?"

lol.. for gods sake its a 12-inch tablet...... and the Apple one would be easier to hold ?

Maybe this is why the 12-inch iPad will be only for enterprise.... They can sustain the awkwardness of a large tablet :p

Quick, let's tell Samsung that Apple is producing a 3-wheeled, two person car that is powered by sunshine and rainbows. I'd love to see what they come up with.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Note Rainbow Car Pro 12.2 does have a certain ring to it mind! :D

Dude. My phone can be a mother****ing TV remote.

I don't know why anyone would buy an iPhone when you can get the clearly superior Samsung™ Galaxy® 4G LTE™ Snapdragon™ NFC© Quad-Core® PenTile™ 128 GB, now with TV Remote Plus.™

wahahaha...dude.
"with exploding battery" :D

Why is it pathetic? Did Samsung just design and begin manufacturing these tablets since the Apple rumor surfaced a few days ago? Is that what people really think?

MacRumors had a article about the possibility of a larger iPad in May. That certainly would be enough time to produce what Samsung just released.

https://www.macrumors.com/2013/05/2...ipad-maxi-in-early-2014-to-target-ultrabooks/

I am still not convinced Apple is going to produce a larger iPad, unless the device has some hardware and software features that are pretty compelling.

Hmm... I remember rumors of a larger Samsung tablet early last year where as the rumors for the larger Apple tablet didn't come til later.

Meh. I'd buy one in that size, if it had the right art apps.

Come at me, bros

True. But since all Samsung does is copy Apple rumors, where is the curved Galaxy phone?

Good effort in trying to change your thesis that Samsung couldn't have copied Apple because the rumor is only a few days old! The larger iPad rumor is at least a half of a year old, and Samsung could have made the decision to offer a larger tablet and produce it in that time.

But who really cares if Samsung released a larger tablet because of their desire to compete with a larger iPad. As long as Samsung doesn't violate patents, it really doesn't matter. Samsung can do whatever they want. It sure sounds like the device is not that impressive or useful, though, based on the initial Engadget report.

Oh, and about the curved Galaxy phone... Maybe they can't figure out how to make such a device! They might have to actually see an Apple product with that feature before making one of their own! ;)

I haven't changed my opinion at all. I don't believe that Samsung is copying everything that Apple is rumored to be working on. I don't believe that they read about Apple making a watch and decided to make one first. I don't believe they are copying things that Apple hasn't even made yet. But that's just my opinion.

And Samsung does sell a curved phone, but only in Korea. :)

Samsung's strategy in mobile electronics can be summed up in three ways:

1) Try and see what Apple has in the pipeline and get it out before they do

2) Introduce 50 different size variations of basically the same thing and see which sticks

3) Develop gimmicky software features to distinguish products from the other me-too products in the market

and it works !

12 inch Android is too big. Omg, 20 inch iPad, it's PERFECT!

lol I'm annoyed by all the stupid Apple fans...first they complain about Samsung copying Apple, making smart phones with touch screens, because of course, that was all Apple's idea...now they give Samsung beef because they are creating all these random devices, saying Apple will find out what works then make that...seriously? That would make Apple the copier and then Samsung would be the one to sue them.

I saw people saying Apple should make a tablet with wacom like features and blah blah blah, guess what, Samsung has that already...if you're going to be jumping all over it, why not jump all over it, it's already there, because it's not an Apple product? Oh, sorry, too bad it's not made by the company you're married to...personally I don't follow products because they're made by one company, but because they make what I want, what I like, what I need. Multitasking is a great thing, if they could make multitasking like on a PC, I'd love it.

To me, Microsoft messed up by forcing everyone to use a phone/tablet OS on their computers, I hate how Windows 8 defaults everything to stupid fullscreen apps, I want to have my Windows, the OS is called Windows for a reason, so give me my windows....not these stupid tiles and fullscreen only apps, if you want to make a stupid tiles and fullscreen app OS, call the OS tiles/pages and keep it separate from Windows.

Personally, the Galaxy Note 3 is perfectly sized. It fits in my pocket nicely, has a pen if I need to handwrite anything or draw, the multitasking could be improved, as it only works with certain apps, but other than that, it's powerful, gets the job done, isn't overly sized for a phone, camera, etc., and decently sized for everything else. Another great feature they have that all Apple phones/tablets don't is the ability to expand the memory, and swap out memory cards.

I've had people complain saying Apple should make bigger phones, allow them to add more storage, etc. I think everyone should shut up about the copying crap, all these stupid patents and lawsuits make everyone scared and prevent the creation of what people want.

And all the stupid fanboys/girls defend companies even when they know the products are inferior...Apple, add wacom type pen functionality, make bigger phones, add removable storage, make more variation, the world is composed of individuals, each individual has preferences, more variation is necessary,

To those saying Samsung is just making all this random crap to see what sticks...they're actually doing the right thing, some people may not like certain products, but that's OK, because others will. I/we/you may think a product is stupid, but other people might like it, and that's all that matters. A lot of product lines were discontinued because of not enough interest, and some people were sad to see those product lines discontinued.

Just look what happened to the original iPod, how many people still use those on a daily basis?

They have just introduced a tablet that has multi-tasking, an excellent feature.

Windows RT doesn't already allow multitasking? Or is it the fact that the new Samsung device allows four apps instead of just two that makes it such an original and innovative feature?

With that said, Apple better copy both Samsung and Windows RT in the area of multitasking... especially if they really have a "pro" model in the works.

Since the comment I responded to was about Samsung, I didn't bring up Windows tablets. The Samsung tablet multitasks, Apple tablets currently do not. So Samsung didn't copy Apple.

Preemptive damage control.

I don't think anyone doubts that Samsung would almost definitely have not released this, were it not for the iPad Pro rumors.

Apple should intentionally "leak" a rumor that they are working on a Digital Social Media Refrigerator With Facebook Integration.

And the knee-jerk reaction from Samsung would be: "WHAT!! Apple is working on hi-tech refrigerator with integrated Facebook functionality!? This must not go unchallenged! We are Samsung! We sell refrigerators! We know more about refrigerators than them! How dare they! Engineers, start your engines! You have a deadline, you must build our Social Media Refrigerator and must release it by this summer! It can keep your food cold, and Tweet with lightning fast ability! The world will be stunned by this marvel of innovation! Make this happen quickly!"

The point I was making is that you said Samsung couldn't have copied Apple because the larger iPad rumor is only a few days old. You then said Samsung didn't copy Apple because they included a feature that allows multiple windows to be opened at one time. That is the "change in thesis" I was referring to. I was actually trying to be funny. Believe me, I am absolutely positive that you do not think Samsung ever copies Apple!

About the curved phone... True, but it is curved the wrong way! :p

Oh, OK. We can only discuss Samsung's potential copying of Apple's products. I didn't understand the ground rules. Can we also discuss Apple copying others, or is that off limits, too? We all know that has happened over the years, but I don't want to violate the terms of this thread!

The Pros and Cons of Android

You're going to get more choice on the Android platform, and you'll get it sooner. A lot of folks are waiting for Apple to make a larger iPhone and iPad. Question is for how long.

So Apple launched both of these pad/phone categories and is going at its own pace making mini/maxi variants (against Jobs' minimalist wishes) as Android and Windows Mobile vendors race to differentiate themselves by variety, specs and price.

But all this variety can fragment the platform too - I don't know how the developers feel about supporting this. At least on iOS I'm confident everything's going to work together pretty effortlessly. So I'll keep an Android device around just to see what's available, but don't see a reason to switch from iOS for the time being.

I wouldn't say that Samsung never copies Apple, just not to the degree that most people here seem to think, especially concerning unannounced Apple products. Samsung releasing a watch when Apple still hasn't announced one and probably won't for a while yet doesn't seem like copying to me. The Apple watch will come about a year after Samsung's has been on the market.

Samsung already sells this. Its a French door fridge with a 7" touchscreen running android.

In reality everyone trying to say Samsung is copying when Apple doesn't even have a pro iPad anything needs to take off their rose colored Apple glasses.

Would love to see these same posters comment when and if Apple ever makes an iWatch, a smart TV, a bigger iPad, a curved iPhone, a bigger screen iPhone, etc. since Samsung already has all these on the market.

As I stated previously, I don't really care who does the copying... as long as the copying is done legally. But I do think patent violations are unacceptable. In the case of the large Samsung tablets, I don't see where Samsung did anything improper... even if they did put out new devices based on their concerns that Apple might produce a larger iPad. Who cares, right?

You are probably right about the Apple watch, if it even exists in Apple's road map for products to be released. I just hope it is something way more compelling than the Samsung device. I just don't see the point of it. I can't see needing a device that speaks to the device that is already easily accessible in a purse or a pocket. Of course, I also thought the original iPod was kind of cool, but I didn't think it would amount to much. Oops! ;)

Oh, I did get your point, and I countered it with points of my own.

Personally I think the key to an Apple watch will be what it does and how. It needs to bring something new to the table. Something make us go Wow! and not just because of looks.

lol... so pathetic.

But I do love Samsung TVs and they are the only Samsung product I own lol.

We have a very nice Samsung Fridge too. :D
As well as three Samsung TVs even dating back to our Samsung DLP which is still going. But yes, no thanks on their tablets and phones.

I will say that my wife asked for a PC laptop in 2013 for her own use b/c she just doesn't want to use a Mac, and I did get a Samsung ATIV Book 7. Very thin, light, great battery, fast (SSD), and much like a MBA copy, but she can't stand Windows 8. And too often the Windows 7 aspects get overruled by Windows 8 stuff, leaving her quite frustrated.

My iPhone and iPad Mini and iPad Air are all remotes too. So what. Any of them can control my TV, my stereo, my Apple TV, and the iPads also have SlingPlayer on them for watching my TV anywhere.

Waiting for the ipad Pro with its fantastical 60 icons on homescreen. Who needs the Magazine UX when you can be dazzled by icons. :D
