Is this a joke?

Samsung is just very bitter at the moment because Apple won the most recent lawsuit. Samsung's phones wouldn't even be the way they are today if it weren't for the iphone. They should just stick with making their tv's better and start designing their OWN "innovations" :apple::apple::apple::apple::apple:

Whats good for the goose is good for the gander... to suggest Apple is guilt free in the game of technology manipulation is being blind as one can be.

I hope Samsung sues, and I hope they win.

It's time everyone begins to recognize there are no "winners" in this game, neither company cares for you, all they care about is money.

You hope Samsung wins but do you believe that Apple is infringing and why?

Yeah, before apple come along and kill them with a tv too lol. This is just petty now. Even if they won this court case the publicity would ultimately be quite negative.

Regardless of wether your an apple geek, fandroid or an inbetweener you should be able to appreciate that the iPhone is a much loved product. Take it away from the people and in the worst case scenario there could very well be a Samsung boycott. Ok maybe not, but the years ahead would certainly not run so smooth for them.

Exactly!

Exactly! Apple just makes quality products that are very much worth the money. As I read that last part I turned towards my Samsung flat screen and thought if it came down to it I'd use it to defend myself when the riots break out. :D

yes, I did. It seems you don't understand how much a billion dollars mean. An extra billion is a lot of money to move many things around and have it their own and they have wanted to redistribute manufacturing since they don't want to depend on samsung or their future prices.

Well you didn't, because your response just illustrated that. I was refer to Samsung's counter actions, but you seem to assume that I am referring to Apple's actions.

One should never assume.

It does seem like these patent fights are getting ridiculous. When patents are being awarded for trivial items the endless law suits occur. This would be like Ford suing everyone else because they used a steering wheel on their car.

From what i understand, Samsung was trying to charge Apple higher rates for industry standards than they were charging others. FRAND patents are supposed to be shared with others at the same rate, and not to limit competition.

Incorrect.
FRAND rates do not have to be the same for everyone.

Some licensees agree to cross license their own patents in return for a lower rate.
Those who choose to forgoe cross licensing deals tend to pay higher FRAND rates than the others.

Frankly, they're all guilty of stealing ideas from one another, Samsung, Apple, HTC, Microsoft, Google, LG... whatever, you name it.

The more lawsuits to come about, the more wins to be granted... the better our odds as consumers that eventually someone will step in and stop this mess. It's utterly ridiculous to sue each other for everything and anything.

Apple aint no saint, they're just as bad as anyone, if not worse at times.

If Apple, Samsung, and Google could all get along, I bet they could make a BEAUTIFUL product. Im just a dreamer though

"Samsung still needs to analyze the iPhone 5 upon its release to confirm that the device contains the same functionality being targeted in Apple's other models already included in the suit."

So they can copy it then sue Apple for using an antenna.

Are you implying that Apple killed Samsung with iPhone? Last I checked, Samsung is the market leader in both smart phones and mobile phones in general and they never were in this position before. It looks like they are killing Apple in this market.

If Samsung feels the iPhone 5 should be banned, then they should not have contributed to its existence by manufacturing for Apple, the major components that went into making it!

If the iPhone 5 is banned in the US. Samsung will probably lose more in sales than Apple will with the lack of iPhone 5 because people will boycott Samsung products. Not only that, Apple will stop buying from Samsung and that alone is billions.

When one says things and leaves it up in the air, the only thing left IS to assume.

Your not wrong, but I went ahead and assumed he was referring to Samsung's consumer products from the context.

Assume away LOL.

Incorrect.

Further - Apple proposed an agreement with Samsung that completely favored Apple and was a pretty shoddy deal for Samsung which was part of the discovery of the recent lawsuit.

Ultimately an agreement will be reached. But I imagine it will happen in court since neither side is going to relent at this point.

Quite a few logic fails in this post.

ok here is my solution, it's really simple and does not require wasting tax payer dollars in the court system. everyone wins, everyone loses, and the customer does not need to worry about products getting banned in their respective markets:

Apple --> you have violated Samsung's LTE patents. you are ordered to pay $2B in damages for any and all infringements of the iPad 3 and iPhone 5, and resulting damages.

Samsung --> you have violated Apple's early design patents. you are ordered to pay $2B in damages for any and all infringements of early model Samsung galaxy phones, and resulting damages

Assume away LOL.

It's a necessary component in human communication. The context dictates meaning and implication. In this case I think it's safe to argue that the parent comment isn't made by someone who purchases semiconductors from Samsung and thus referred to their products available to the general public.

It is possible to to make forceful litteral interpretation in order to make a point, but it's a pretty thin argument.
