Now, now. No reason to get snippy because Apple copied Samsung.

Apple can't be an innovator all the time. They occasionally get their ideas from somewhere else.

lol snippy? Apple is known for taking existing technology and features and making them better/easier to use. Theres a difference between that and infringement on patents.

They would have a much larger share of the very lucrative Apple component business -- Once Samsung started copying, Apple started diversifying away from Samsung. The lost business is worth billions of dollars.

It's different parts of the company. I'm sure the guy who runs the Samsung hardware component business would love to strangle the guy who runs the Samsung mobile business.

----------

The same can be said of the iPhone.

We'd have all the same phones today without Apple. Sure, they contributed, but others were working on the same stuff.

Who was working on anything that looked and worked like the iPhone?

There are lots of big manufacturing companies in China that Apple uses. Somehow when something goes wrong, they are "Apple's manufacturing partners". There was even a report of 300 workers at an "Apple factory" threatening suicide - because they were afraid of losing their jobs because Xbox production was slowing down. And somehow, when something goes wrong at a place involving Apple, it's news. Other companies, no news.

The difference is what you companies do when **** happens. Apple takes action, and makes sure that workers get compensated and that things don't happen again. For example, Apple looks very hard whether companies hire anyone under the age limit, and makes sure that these kids go back to school, with the "employer" paying for it. There were two cases where they found companies were systematically hiring underaged workers, and both times the companies lost their contract with Apple. Result: The numbers are going down.

Samsung, on the other hand, has been trying its hardest to avoid any responsibilities for the leukemia cases at its factories. (And they are Samsung factories, not factories of Samsung partners). Samsung also closes their eyes to child labour and just states that nobody underage ever worked at Samsung's or their partners' factories.

I agree and I mentioned earlier in then thread that Apple's stance on supplier responsibility is great, but all companies could improve.

Admittly, I found out a lot more about Samsung than I knew from this thread and research.

Very good seeing that side by side that way!

I believe there was an internal Samsung email, that stated "we need to make our phones more like iPhone's". I don't remember the exact quote or, know it to be fact, but I do remember reading about it.:apple:

They also had a 130 page book that they had to present in court, comparing iPhone features with Samsung features and notes how to improve the Samsung features by making them the same as the iPhone.

----------

samesung problem is not apple? THEN WHY THEY ONLY ATTACKING apple?

They have definitely attacked Dyson as well.

They have attacked HTC by paying people to make posts rubbishing HTC phones on Android forums (and have been fined for it).

If you look at the mobile market, Samsung is in an awful position because it is under attack from two sides: Apple at the high end, and the cheap Chinese android phones on the low end. An awful position because anything Samsung does to counter Apple makes them more vulnerable at the low end and vice versa. So in the mobile market they have two big problems, and one of them is Apple.

If you look at all of Samsung's business, mobile is doing worst, but the rest isn't doing too good either. Apple is their biggest customer in the component business, and they have lost quite a few sales to Apple, which doesn't exactly help their component business.

Samsung users ignore the dell streak.

OK. Thanks. I should of known Ssamsung users are probably too stuck in Touch-Wiz or busy rebooting their phones to pay attention to anything else.

Which reminds me it's time to reboot my Galaxy Note.

Luckily I have a 6+ to keep reading this thread.

No way Apple is like the Broncos! Especially after last year's trip to the wood shed at the hands of the Seahawks.

No, this year I'd say they are more like the scrappy, always improving, pounding forward no matter what the adversity, San Diego Chargers.

Regardless of your NFL team, the Bolts have certainly captured the attention of all who follow American football. They are much like Apple in that they deliver, not always when we think they will, but the design & quality is second to none at the root level. Oh, they do not need to copy anybody to get the product delivered to satisfied customers.

Go Apple! :apple:

ewww the bolts? jk, the chargers are impressive this year. I'm in no position to critisize any team since i'm a jets fan,

Its too hard to use a football team to represent apple because every year a new team wins it all. If i could switch it to bball i would say lebron game = apple. Currently undisputed on top, no flash in his game, but simply the best. And as always being in top comes with a lot of criticism. bendgate = cramp gate lol

Apple has better Customer Care

Here is a little experience I had with Samsung that encouraged me never to buy their products

Back when the Iphone 5 was about to release, I decided to get the Samsung S3 (latest version at the time), but I did not know that not all S3 phones were 4g enabled. Unfortunately I bought an S3 phone not 4g Enabled.

So the very next day I went to take it back and explained that it was an genuine mistake and if I could at least exchange it for a 4g enabled model. Well the customer service was so rude, they did not care at all and wanted me out of the shop once they had my cash.

It dawned on me the way home that if I had of bought the Iphone 5 and wanted it take it back, they would do it no questions asked. From that point on wards I knew to stay well away from Samsung, they don't give a toss about their customers.

I could be wrong, but it's starting to feel like the smartphone market has grown very stale and stagnant. As if manufacturers have thrown everything they can think of into phones at this point and don't know what the next major feature is. I think everybody's profits are going to take a dip in the coming years.

Next major features should be battery life, battery life and battery life.

They're looking at the numbers because Samsung is going to be announcing their quarterly results, not because of Apple. The article doesn't even really tie the two together, just pointed out that Samsung's profits are dropping while Apple has just released the 6 and 6+ and had blockbuster sales.

I realize they worded things cleverly... but why make such an article at all? Clearly it's to skew things n favor of Apple, which is humorous since no skewing is necessary.

Must like the Samsung Ads are fun and pointing out how Samsung is better on the points in their adverts also.
/QUOTE]

Apples ad didn't make fun if PCs customers. Big difference!
Samsung user's can't see the difference. That's why they are on Android.

android (ˈændrɔɪd)
n1. (Literary & Literary Critical Terms) (in science fiction) a robot resembling a human being
adj2. resembling a human being

[C18: from Late Greek androeidēs manlike; see andro-, -oid]

This definition can be applied to the OS too. :p

----------

its sad that fanboys would rather support apple over their own consumer rights
What's even sadder is Fandroids would come to an Apple forum to post items about Apple fanboys.

Oh, yes, I'm sure you would be able to buy a 5.5" iPhone, just as many many thousands/millions of people have, if Apple was the only one company making Smart Phones.

Yes, sure :D

Yes, Apple made 66 negative adverts over a span of 4 years when they were the underdog against the PC.

Of course, Apple fans refuse to see these as negative, saying they were fun and just pointing out how Apple was better.

Must like the Samsung Ads are fun and pointing out how Samsung is better on the points in their adverts also.

Again, of course, people choose to dislike those ads that are negative towards the brand they like.

Still, Samsung has a LONG way to go to read 66 negative Ads as Apple made.
Last time I checked, "PCs" weren't a single brand attacked by Apple, but a category of computers. They weren't attacking anyone.
It doesn't matter how hard you try: Apple isn't Samsung.

True. And Apple usually pay for what they take.

Oh I know.

Apple are in a very very narrow band of manufacturing and rely totally on their little gadgets and a few home computers.

Samsung is a massive company from a memory chip thru, some domestic appliances or a giant ship to an Oil Platform

Totally agree, vastly different companies.

Totally different companies, but I don't expect someone who loves a company like Samsung to understand that....

Do you even understand why a patent must be licensed by "FRAND" vs. not? What you did was completely contradict the argument that the iPhone (or something like it) would have happened without Apple. Thank you.

FRAND = Fair, Reasonable, Non-descriminatory. Patents have FRAND requirements because they are contributed to a standard, and licensing cannot be restricted. The cellular telecommunications standards would have been created with, or without, Samsung, just as they were before Samsung existed.

Non-FRAND = Apple. Unique and proprietary. Licensed at Apples discretion only.

Missed the point entirely... Nice job

Here's from my experience. I've had every iPhone since the 3GS and only had an issue with the iPhone 5 Power Button Programme which would intermittently not respond, but this was replaced with another iPhone 5 no issues. I've had no broken screens, and no repairs on any iPhone.

For a short time I had the Samsung Galaxy S2, beautiful screen but the rest was **** - all plastic Fisher Price design, and slow processor plus the clunky and unusable Android software. I then went back to the iPhone and noticed major differences in software and performance. Android has always been a poor mans versions of iOS and was actually copied from iOS, and its always been clunky chunky even with the latest Samsung phones which fall well behind performance of equivalent iPhones.

Of course Apple use a closed ecosystem which is better for quality control and no a single virus in any App so far - obviously works. Open slather is never a good idea as it can backfire big time. I now have the iPhone 6 Plus 128GB Gold and no issues so far.

Fact is Apple made the best hardware / software for iPhones in the world and no one has managed to beat them yet.

I'm amused at the rage of the Apple users in this thread. Kool aid, cults, sheep, It's amusing how angry they are :D

You see guys when parental controls are not correctly managed on the family PC..... Kids surf, land on on a Mac community forum and say bad things... Leave your basement, go upstairs and watch your favorite kid show or I call your parents!

Or it's because this is an Apple forum, of course articles are going to tie back to Apple in some way. If you have a problem with articles referencing Apple then this website isn't a good place for you to come.

This does not surprise me.

In 2012, the Galaxy S III was superior to the iPhone 5, and the TouchWiz user interface for the S III wasn't that intrusive, either. Unfortunately, Samsung added a LOT of "cruft" software in the Galaxy S 4 and S 5, which made them a lot less desirable.

The only reason why Samsung continued to sell well for a while was the fact Apple deliberately kept the screen size too small with the iPhone 5/5S/5C models. With the release of iPhone 6 and 6+ models, Apple has effectively eliminated Samsung's biggest advantage, and many people who would have bought a Galaxy S 5 are now buying the iPhone 6 instead. Indeed, the iPhone 6+ could take a huge amount of marketshare from the Galaxy Note models, too.

Apple are in a very very narrow band of manufacturing and rely totally on their little gadgets and a few home computers. .
And seem quite successful at it.
SV150: Apple, Inc. earns more than HP, Google, Intel & Cisco combined
Apple's iPhone Is Now Worth More Than All Of Microsoft
Then this little gem.
Screen-Shot-2012-11-26-at-4.09.08-PM-580x418.png

Small narrow band, humongous profits.
Samsung is a massive company from a memory chip thru, some domestic appliances or a giant ship to an Oil Platform

Totally agree, vastly different companies.
The thread is about mobile. Didn't see anything about giant ship or oil platform profits falling 62%

Samsung mobile is competing in mobile.
They are not competing in Oil platforms.
Neither is Apple.
But they have enough money to.:p
