1st video makes no sense. How is the Note 9 more powerful?

2nd video is kind of funny, event though I really have no interest in using a stylus on a phone (but I get that others may feel differently).

I concur the first video was lame, powerful is subjective. Samsung should have focused on versatility by saying you can use the stored in stylus to draw etc without purchasing a separate device like the iPad Pro to carry around etc. No average user will notice powerful, how much power does web browsing, emails, video, music, social apps take. The odd Candy Crush game here and there.

Having a stored-in stylus will appeal to anyone who might not see a reason to use it initially, it is included and human curiosity will find uses for it, I assure you. People said the same thing before the Apple Pencil was released, then it became the best thing since sliced bread. Much rather have it and not use it then to not have it or have to purchase it at an additional charge and figure I could have found creative uses to interact with the UX/UI.

Some MR users will always knock what the competition does, then when Apple releases it their tune changes and then it becomes a question of well Apple did it or does it better. Gimme a break. A stylus is nothing new neither Samsung or Apple invented it, it existed long before and will continue to do so after you and I pass. The core concept is a pencil/pen a stick to write with precision where a finger just won’t do. This is like comparing cave artwork does with fingers, palms, feet, etc and that done by a paintbrush, pencil colours, crayons, etc.

The finger is quick, however a stylus/pencil is refined, it is your choice if you prefer to use it or not.

You know whats even funnier is walking into the Apple store and going up to the Genius Bar for help and learn that you have to make an online appointment only to find they are booked for the next week. I've seen it happen.

Not sure if this is a good thing or not, it could either mean that the Apple hardware/software is not working or the user is incompetent, or maybe both.

Only reason I go the Genius Bar is to get some under warranty damage repaired. If I could drop it in a repair box and was notified when to pick it up, I would have no reason to waste my life waiting around to be seen for technical problems that I already understand. If the hardware was easy to repair I would not even need to do this, however it seems that is what Apple is steering its customers to do. To provide the impression that the Apple Retail Store receives all this foot traffic and while people are there their get tempted to purchase some more Apple products. That is the entire purpose behind the madness.

I haven't read through the whole thread, so I doubt I'm the only one to bring this up, but it wasn't in the first couple of pages. Ingenious means, "cleverly and originally devised and well suited to its purpose." I get what they're going for, but it's poor execution when the literal meaning of what you're saying is the exact opposite of the play on words you're trying to make.
Whilst I think you're right, if you get what they're going for, (as would the vast majority), I'd say the idea was executed well enough then?

I'm still waiting for the Apple ad where the Samsung user walks into the Apple store and asks the Genius where he can find the Samsung support store and genius bar and the genius breaks into hysterical laughter..... (lol)
Why not, they use the "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC", ads in a similar vein. Apple have just changed tack and their supporters are lapping it all up. When it suits them to change, they will and guess what - their supporters will love that too.

I'm saying.

Craig: How many can we do at the same time?
Dev: Maybe 32
Craig: No, 10 is better. Do that instead

That doesn't make any sense

They can probably do more than 32 but felt they need some kind of limit
I personally think it was the number of people on Apple's Board of Directors, chosen so they could have board meetings over FaceTime (j/k... I think).

Is this another one in a long list of Android features that Apple fans claim to be useless until Apple adopts them?
[doublepost=1533937718][/doublepost]
It's not about stylus. I am not aware of any other phone with high quality support for stylus (Samsung uses Wacom digitizer tech)

No, not for me. I just wouldn’t use a stylus on a phone, nor have I ever seen anyone use a stylus on a phone. I have an Apple Pencil for my iPad that my girlfriend uses to draw, but I won’t be moving to a stylus anytime soon for either.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I'll stand by my stance that difference would not be noticeable in real life usage.

I cannot believe it, after all these years I have finally found a users who actually uses all the power/performance an A11, A10, A9, A8 chip has to offer. Oh dear intel chips may as well give up the fight now. /s

Reality is that only a handful of games and creative apps actually use most not all of the A11 let alone A10 processors power. The biggest hurdle for iPhones was Apple’s stubbornness to limit its devices to 1GB of ram and said iOS was optimized, now their seem to have quickly binged from 2GB to 3GB and rumoured 4GB or more. I am not even going to mention the onboard storage stupidity on Apple’s part, I cannot believe that their actually include 64GB as base on iPhone 8/X/iPad Pro which is a decent starting amount for the price their charge. 32GB is way too low considering the push to 4K video.

I have no idea. As an employee I get it for free. I am sure that if the business has a real need for it, it can afford it (avoiding buying Apple devices might help save too)

Good point, I’d likely need to transfer a license. We all have iOS devices so I’ll just wait until iOS 12 is released.

I've used a stylus on a phone, actually wanted one for my iPhone too. There, those people exist. It's better that the option exists.

I wonder why Apple doesn’t make ads about their new iPhone been faster that Samsungs oh wait cause the iPhones (even the last year models) are always faster...
BTW filming an ad about a nerd bragging about his phone at the competitions store is lame......
Unfortunately the best thing coming out of Samsung as usual is their oled pannels - soon to be beaten by LG.

It's all about the money, understandable. Less storage for you and more cloud use instead. They'll probably team up with an ISP and cut a deal at some stage.

I think you know virtually nothing about Samsung if that's what you think. Their drives are stellar and that's just in the PC world.

The problem with the Apple Pencil is that there is not friction on friction/texture on texture feedback I get when I use a lead pencil on paper. The rubber tips try to mimick it, however it is a bit of a miss too. If the glass has texture then the images will have this frosted look (unless there is nano tech that can overcome this). I prefer some texture in my finger tips, hence I like the Smart Keyboard Fabric Cover compared to plastic keys.

I'm a dinosaur. Still prefer a drawing board, graphite pencils, paper, set squares and a compass.

While Apple users wait (keyword) for more free iCloud storage or some other deal, I have 2TB cloud storage and moved away from iCloud. Now if I can delete or replace the associated “@me/@iCloud” email I will be free from Apple’s rubbish cloud services that their can never figure to get it right compared to competitors. Anyone remember prior to iCloud and also the iTools mess. Apples makes some excellent hardware, I cannot say the same for cloud services.

I like Apple (although less these days) and have plenty of Apple products, but OMG, the sheeple are annoying af. It's like ya'll went to advance denial training classes.

Lol, it has been such a long time since I held a pencil or pen that once I used an Apple Pencil I felt like a Gen Z.:p:D

Its the 1 Trillion Dollar valuation Kool-Aid, my friend :p:D

But why does Samsung not selling all that well?
Because their brand sucks. Do you wanna be associated with a product made by a bunch of whiny little ****** ? No. People want a positive feeling from a thing they keep in their pocket all day. They like when the things they interact with frequently have a positive vibe and make a positive statement. Samsung comes off annoying and smug in these ads. In a lot of their ads. Too much negativity. Their entire existence seems to be “ heckle Apple”. Bad, bad, bad.

Yeah, Apple is so intent on keeping Intel happy that they just created a whole new Design Center DEDICATED TO PITCHING INTEL'S CPUs OUT THE DOOR...

I have to give it to these people for their loyalty to Apple, there are blinded and believe Apple can do no harm. Apple must be their benefactor or something, this is a corporation that only cares about itself. Wonder what would happen when reality slaps them in the face, then their will just go crying home and go on a rampage against Apple.

I neither love/hate, like/dislike Apple. There are some things their do well and others well, there is room for improvement.

Yea, it isn’t for me either. As I mentioned, my girlfriend likes to draw with it and she loves it for that purpose, but I’m not artistic at all. I use an iPad Pro as my main work computer, along with the Smart Keyboard and I prefer keyboard shortcuts and my finger the pencil. I’m with you, I like the texture of the Smart Keyboard also.

Remember the Mac vs PC ads? Did Apple feel inferior next to Microsoft? Or was it clever marketing tactics used against a competitor? Hmmm.

People keep bringing this up, but I am not so sure they are comparable.

For one, those Apple ads were a long time ago. And what was considered acceptable or in good taste back then might not be as suitable today.

It’s like how policemen wore shorts in the past as well. But doing so now would be a real fashion faux pas.

In short, those kind of ads worked back then given the unique environment and circumstances at the time. But times change, as do tastes and perceptions, and I don’t think that the same type of ad is going to fare as well under today’s climate.

Just my two cents.

Samsungs marketing/advertising team are aloof teens, hence the adolescent type ads. I didn’t care for the Justin Long Apple PC/Mac ads either, however both actors had this cliche about them and never came across as having a complex.

Anyone remember when android phones used to crush iPhone benchmarks? No one cared then lol it was all about performance and optimization. Now is
It's all the sites cling too. I suppose it adds to the herd mentality. All I know is in real world speed test the iPhone X loses to the S9 and Note 8.

But what if the same company that managed to compete by using performance and optimisation now has the fastest silicon?

That's not the point of these ads. Samsung doesn't need to show their phone, specs, or retail locations. These are negative ads against Apple.
Yeah, no. That other person is right. Just saying that the purpose is to be negative against Apple doesn’t justify anything. The negativity of these ads is a bad brand strategy. Epically bad. Flaming as it eventually rolls to a stop in a ditch, bad.
