Pretty funny considering the Note 9 still can't outperform the year old iPhone X. And yes, nobody wants a stylus for a phone. Samsung should focus more on their failing sales than Apple.

1. Some people do like and want a stylus
2. It has the snapdragon 845 chipset, the latest Android processor, and phones with that chipset couldn't even outscore the iPhone X so why the hell is it a surprise it couldn't outperform the X? And its 2000 points faster than last years Note 8 but of course everyone is kinda bias for Apple anyway
3. Regardless, everyone knows that geekbench doesn't translate to real life. You're not gonna a significant difference in performance between the X and the Note 9 anyway

1. I guess there probably are some out there that want a stylus. To each their own.
2+3. The ad says the Note is "powerful". Don't advertise your phone as powerful and then never explain why or how it is powerful. It clearly isn't as "powerful" as a nearly year old iPhone when looking at tests... So that seems like a pretty moot point.

Even the S9 beats the iPhone X in everyday tasks when it comes to speed and it does it with a less powerful CPU. ;) Not to mention the terrible Ram management on the X, it can't even keep a few apps open without them reloading. On my S9 I can keep over 10 apps open and they will stay in memory.

I don't think ads like this are designed to get people with iPhones to by Samsung phones. They are designed to get people who already own Samsung phones to feel good about their purchase, and stop them buying iPhones in the future. Considering Samsung's phone sales are down 40%, it's not a bad strategy, but it's hardly a good one.

Also, just because the iPhone 8/X are faster than the new Note 9 doesn't mean Samsung can't claim the opposite. The overwhelming evidence in our society right now is you can say whatever the hell you want, whenever you want, and enough people will believe it to make the lie worth it.

Samsung seriously thinks a phone with a pen is somehow gonna change their failing sales? So, what about the S9 which is the bulk of their sales and doesn’t use the pen?

I hope Samsung's next commercial actually shows what you can do with a stylus... instead of another commercial pretending to be in an Apple Store and just talking about how the iPhone doesn't have a stylus.

Explain the benefits.

That's one thing some people forget about the "Mac vs PC" ads of yore. Apple might have talked about what other computers don't have... but they also talked about what Macs do have as well. And also why you'd want it.

Hell... if Samsung wants to call-out phones that don't have styluses... that'd be... um... all other phones?

I can't think of another phone with a stylus. So Samsung is the automatic winner in that regard.

And yet Samsung's sales dropped last quarter 10% year-over-year... even though they are the only maker of phones with a stylus.

So I guess that stylus ain't so hot after all! :p

Came here to point out the same thing, iPhone X outperforms Note 9 in most tests.

Galaxy Note 9 Benchmarked: iPhone X Is Still Faster
Yeah but most high performance chips needs a proper cooling solution to work and what I have heard about the A11 is not good. Its sustained performance would not be that great. But this Note 9, if we take Samsung's comments at facevalue, should be having good cooling and might perform better in tasks that demand sustained performance.
Just my opinion !

Android fans say benchmarks don't matter anymore.
No they are just pointing out that the S9 and Note 9 are faster in real world tasks despite a much less powerful CPU.
[doublepost=1533955581][/doublepost]I love all the comments about how no Apple user would ever want a Stylus, until Apple release their version of the Note....I will bet my life you all change your tune when it happens, so predictable just like the 4" screen being the perfect size, until Apple released a larger screen phone. I just don't understand why people can't give credit when its due.

Love this stuff, keep it coming!

We'll see Pencil for iPhone sooner or later, just as Apple has adopted the phablet form factor, dual-camera, fast-charging, and dual-SIM.

i disagree. i don't think we'll ever see the Pencil for iPhone. because Apple wants folks to buy both a phone and an iPad.

What solid jabs did they take in either of these ads? Trying to compare their insecure face unlock with face id? Bringing up a stylus? Come on.. That is super weak. Again. They do not show their product once in these ads, not even at the end. You can clearly see HomePods, AirPods, iPhones, and MacBooks in these ads.

I do not recall posting once about the MacBook issue. Just because I bring up how stupid these ads are doesn't mean I am an Apple apologist. I never said Apple was perfect. I use and appreciate their products because they tend to work extremely well for me. If I had constant issues with them I wouldn't use them. In summary, these ads are bad. They aren't clever and they promote Apple and their products more than their own.

Come on, the double dongle ad was hilarious! So was the fasting charger adapter ad. And the only way I would get a homepod if I got it for free (I already have high end audiophile speakers in the living room). I cringe at the idea of using siri. Of all the products you mentioned, only airpods stands out as a solid product, which samsung has no match for.

I’ve just never seen one being used in public or known anyone who has wanted one. I don’t see it as a popular feature amongst consumers.

Maybe not in your freight industry but in other industries such as finance, mortgage, real estate, etc. it's a sought after feature to capture customer signature. Just look at the popularity of pen based Surface type devices and even iPads.

Agreed. I'd have the same response to the statement about being able to use a stylus with the Note.
But I think the FaceTime angle is valid. Who and why would want to FaceTime 32 peoole?? It's not a corporate video conferencing app!

The other ads made fun of the iPhone for actually legitimate reasons, but these are dumb reasons. Seriously the phone stylus again?

Maybe 6 people. I've done that before.

I get what you're saying. I really do. The trouble is, the people seeing these adverts via these websites are probably already majority invested in one product or another. I won't be leaving my perfectly decent iPhone or MacBook Pro because of this. They are vaguely amusing in a sense that they go no way in actually promoting their own brand. More power to them if it works. That's all I can say.
I think
All I know is once you've bought android, you've lost.
Lost in what sense???

Getting people to watch your ‘channel” doesn’t necessarily move your product. And trying to make a consumer dislike one product does not make them like your product. That’s the 101. So, OK - they don’t buy Apple as a result of this ad. The list of alternatives if substantial. This ad does nothing to make me want to by a specific product of any manufacturer (or Samsung), only to attack Apple. If you want people to buy your widget, you need to make them want YOUR widget. You can use negative advertising, but you should still feature your own product. Talk about the notch (or show it) then fade to the samsung phone without the notch. There is a pretty major disdain “for negative” advertising, not just in politics.
Is there a source to prove your last statement? I thought politicians blame the negative ads for their losses. So it proves that negative ads work.

These commercials are dumb and make me cringe for some reason. I've owned Samsungs like the S5, S7, Note 5 and despite the specs on the Note 9, I'm not interested in a phone that won't go past two years (maybe 3) of heavily delayed software updates. Android 9 has been out in beta for months and still they choose to ship this with 8.1 Oreo. Dumb
Wait!! I have s8 and I have already 8 updates in one year.
And you want a phone to be released with a beta software? You know, every company does not want to be like apple in the sense that don't test the software and release it so that users have to test it.

How would anyone in their right mind argue that it couldn't be useful to have more than two people on a video chat? Nobody at Samsung uses conference calling for anything?

I've never video chatted with one person, let alone 2 or more. For me that feature is useless.

I think these videos are great. And slowly deflates the Apple positioning.

Apple Pencil for iPhone would be awesome! I hope they launch it soon
