How much does Samsung spend on these rediculous ads with their mock apple store? They are funny to watch though.

I find these ads insulting and alienating. Makes me sort of reconsider buying anything Samsung branded (fridge, TV, stereo, etc.). Maybe they’re meant to cement their current customers rather than bring in new ones?

But why does Samsung not selling all that well?

Sure, top phone vendor in the world. Terrible.

Pretty funny considering the Note 9 still can't outperform the year old iPhone X. And yes, nobody wants a stylus for a phone. Samsung should focus more on their failing sales than Apple.

You usually make smarter comments than this. "Nobody" wants a stylus?? Failling sales? Samsung is the top phone vendor in the world. Apple just dropped to number 3.

Amazing Mac rumour... Sumsung releases ads for their new phone.

Zzzzzzz

Yes, I remember the days when there were rumours on here!

When I see a company using a competitor as the basis for comparison I always suspect that the competitor has the “gold standard“ product. I then investigate the competitor. In very rare cases these comparisons work when original company is a true underdog with a real differentiator. Even then, seldom. In this case not at all.

Ask any company out there if they would prefer Samsung’s sales numbers or Apple’s profits.

The issue is that Samsung sells a ton of phones which bring in very little revenue.

In terms of raw profitability, Apple has that locked up. Apple has aggregated the best customers, and that’s probably what Samsung wants. Though I don’t see these advertisements having the desired impact.

Samsung is acting like some jilted ex-lover who just can’t get over their obsession with Apple, and it shows. I can’t even feel offended or angry at Samsung. More sorry for Samsung actually.

And this is precisely why Samsung can never beat Apple. Because they just have no class.

Second one is funny, but if i didnt know better who the advertiser is i would assume that the woman is stupid. Got a finger for a reason. The add goes nowhere.

The group FaceTime part is pretty darn weak in my opinion. If your only counter to it is "Why would I want to do that?", why even bring it up in the first place? All you've done is state a feature the competition has that you don't.

Normal Samsung mentality, pretty crappy on the software side of things.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I'll stand by my stance that difference would not be noticeable in real life usage.
It's very noticeable. Have you ever tried to export video? That's something simple, ordinary people tend to do too.

I don’t think it’s desperation I just think they know what niche they can get, they’ve been doing rude and sometimes outright mean (towards the users, not even the devices) in their ads for years, obviously it works somewhat.

But I don't think it does. And I don't really think Samsung does know iPhone users. The ones who use iPhone are the ones who have been doing for years and not likely to change, regardless what kind of adverts Samsung pulls. I really think there is something wrong with Samsung's marketing dpt. Apple is not even a direct competitor with Samsung if you think about it. Samsung does have more to worry about Chinese Android smartphone makers who have been doing incredibly well recently. They are the ones Samy should be worried about. iPhone users will just continue using iPhones with a few exceptions which is, sometime people and myself included like to try other devices and Galaxy phones have been my best alternative to iPhone but that is not because of their silly adds. If anything, these adds will just put me off and make me not want to buy a Galaxy or Note and I would never move to Samsung's ecosystem permanently. But like I said, I like to every now and then use Android device.

Seriously man, is it not embarrassing instead of advertising new cool things about your new product, you go and compare it with almost a year old device?

And here I am, thinking that Samsung ads could not get dumber that the last ones. The funny thing is that they do make great devices, but... Let's see:

1st ad: "Why I would want to do that". Really Samsung ? Don't you think that the same thing can be said for your smartphones regarding useless features like the bloatware, or the h/w bixby button ?

2nd ad: Bashing phones that do not have a pencil ? Literally, almost every phone out there. Including their own S9/S9+ ???

Probably trying to get those who have gotten fed up with their iPhones. I could see how an ad talking about complaint with a product you have could be somewhat appealing “that’s exactly what I said, maybe their device will tackle that issue then...”.

Despite this I agree, I think it’s bad advertising. Back when the 5 was released I was annoyed with Apple I chose a HTC and then an LG because Samsung was doing the same thing then and I found it distasteful.

Love this stuff, keep it coming!

We'll see Pencil for iPhone sooner or later, just as Apple has adopted the phablet form factor, dual-camera, fast-charging, and dual-SIM.
The phablet form factor and fast charging sure, but Apple was one of the first to introduce dual cameras, with Samsung following that trend.

I am just waiting for the moment when Apple releases a small pencil for iPhone. All of a sudden the stylus will be the best thing since sliced bread, and "wayyy better than that clunky Note stylus!" After they watch a Jony Ives video talking about "made from precision crafted aluminium, our new mini Pencil has a unique tip, honed from an exclusive metal alloy by our new advanced AI robotics manufacturing..." While it still plugs into the charging port on the iPhone just like the regular pencil does with the iPad lol. Mark my words....

I’ve just never seen one being used in public or known anyone who has wanted one. I don’t see it as a popular feature amongst consumers.
that is just anecdotal, when I am on the train each day, I see a lot of phones, most of them are non iPhone. Granted, never seen anyone on the train using a stylus, but have seen one at work.

On train where? Kathmandu?

I doubt it

Sure every now and then will be nice to use but even my Apple Pencil isn’t used much. Maybe st work it’s used but not much at home

Always remember: benchmarks that show apps reloading more on the iPhone are irrelevant. The only ones that matter to MR forum members are Geekbench and how fast it renders 4k video.

Wait... I thought the phone that generates the most profit is what matters.

I'm so confused... :p

The note is a niche product. It doesn’t sell as much as the S series.

I think Apple would only introduce a stylus if they saw a competitor phone with a stylus selling well. Since there isn’t such a phone I don’t think they will bother.

I wouldn’t mind one but I didn’t ever really use it much on any of the notes I owned. Also don’t use my Apple Pencil much but I still like to have it.
