It never lasted this long. Samsung is mocking Apple since the Galaxy series first came out. That is 8 years, if I am correct.

It was funny at the beginning. Now, it is kinda pathetic.

Not sure about 8 years of mocking iPhone but I am sure that Apple ran the Mac add campaigns for five.

2006 through 2010. I think longer even.

Lack of SD slot is a real con though. Do iPhone users not like extra storage... or even the OPTION to have extra storage? LOL

I have 256 gigs onboard. Anything more needed than that I have cloud storage for. I just got back from a 3200+ mile driving vacation through the U.S. and Canada and I have a boatload of 4k 60fps video and thousands of pictures and so far haven't needed to go beyond the phone. And that's with upwards of 7000+ songs on the thing.

That is because Apple sells to iCrowd something at a price range which is to normal humans unjustifiable, yet Apple gets away with it. This is Beyond the understanding of Samsung which is trying to compete on a price vs performance rational grounds. While Apple wins its users heart not always on technical merit but by being a part of the exclusive Apple club. Make no mistakes Samsung too wants to be in that space where it sells less and makes more. I mean Samsung does every thing in its capacity from Building Ships to making semiconductors , hotel and Heavy electrical/mechanical equipment yet very soon Apple will be the worlds first Trillion dollar company. Half the GDP of India. This is why Samsung is obsessed with Apple like Revenues, it burns their hearts how Apple gets away with it when they manufacture every single semiconductor on the iPhone.

Cloud storage should be considered obsolete. How do you access your phone's data when you don't have an internet connection?

It’s not obsolete because it’s growing, while physical storage for phones is declining.

Again, I’m not saying you need to find cloud storage superior to SD cards, but it would be silly to deny that the tech world is moving to cloud storage.

Is it perfect? No, it’s not. But neither are SD cards. For example, let’s say you rely solely on SD and happen to lose the card or phone altogether. How do you access your data then? They both have their pros and cons and yes, I’m sure there will always be people who will prefer SD. But I’m willing to be they are in the minority.

Mobile networks and public WiFi will continue to grow- that is a fact. As we progress, cloud storage will continue to make more and more sense.

The point of my comment was not that cloud storage is better than physical storage or vice versa. I’m simply stating that the lack of an SD card slot is not that big of a deal these days as cloud storage is gradually replacing it.

These ads raise points that I think are better than the previous ones. The lack of MicroSD has been vexing since I got my first iPhone almost 10 years ago. If we could get the functionality the notch affords us (facial unlocking) without actually having a cut into the display we would prefer it wouldn't we? I know I would. And the lack of true multitasking can be annoying too, especially on the larger devices.

I don't like these ads just because I find them tacky, the whole fists to the screen with "ingenious" on them etc it's annoying, certainly doesn't make me think, oh I need a Galaxy phone now. But I do feel the points are completely valid. Samsung would do better to make the ads less cringe.

Wow, Samsung is on fire! Took them less than a year to come up with such a sophisticated video about the notch.

Apple eventually adopts the technologies from Android, it just takes time:
  • Phablet form factor
  • Pencil
  • Dual-SIM

When split-screen comes to iPhone 6.5", the same consumers who dismissed it will be praising it to no end.

Split screen, I think, can be useful in some scenarios, but it all depends on the execution in my eyes. I haven't used it on Android, so I cannot say 100%, but the video posted earlier in the thread seemed very clunky, with a weird windows like scaling going on, and not very simple/intuitive to use. I mainly just don't see it as that big of a differentiator, more of a nice to have. I certainly don't mind Apple adopting ideas where it makes sense though.

I have an X and never think about the notch. Seems to me those who complain about it the most don’t even own an X. Do you think Apple has a notch because they like it? As soon as the notch can go away it will.

It’s true that Apple is pricey but the old adage that you get what you pay for is true. I have had every iPhone since the iPhone 4 for my personal phones and various other platforms for my business handsets ( chosen by my employer). There is a distinct reason why every other manufacturer compares their devices to Apple and that is because since it’s inception, the iPhone has been the “benchmark “ of the industry. And now it’s reached the point where these competitors can’t equal Apples quality so they have to mock it. In the early days of smartphones I had Blackberry phones for business and they never really evolved with the times . I then had Samsung phones and there were constant software issues. IOS is stable, reliable and innovative. The biggest problem with android is you have too many manufacturers trying to tweak it to fit their devices and it doesn’t always work. Enough said!!!

Samsung needs to stop spending money advertising against Apple and start advertising against cheaper Android phones. That's where their competition is eating them for lunch.

To be fair, these ads cannot have cost much.

Yeah because if I bought the iPhone X then I don't mind the notch of course, I'm not going to spend $1,000 on something I don't like am I? - The entire reason I don't own one is because I don't like the phone. I don't like the notch, I don't like that the phone is so tiny, I don't like its PWM display flickering at lower brightness, I don't like the price of it.

So of course people who chose not to own it are going to say the reasons why, the notch is annoying. You bought it and I expect nothing less but defence of that decision after spending a grand on it.

All I can say it that every single time I go into an Apple store, they're bursting at the seams and the Genius Bar is always full, and there's usually a wait for someone to check you out. Yet, I and everyone else prefer to wait than go down to the other cell phone sellers and buy a Galaxy S whatever.

Still not sure I've seen a good implementation of split screen on a phone that people actually use...

It's not important. Apple Maps can't store the maps locally anyways :)

LOL, junk. I can download maps off google maps onto my phone if I like. Plus I have Sygic which allows me to download the entire world's maps onto my phone (paid though).

Must suck to use a phone so crippled and limiting.

Does Samsung make any earbuds as good as the AirPods? Does Samsung offer 256GB (soon to be 512GB) of fast internal storage? SD card speeds are much lower. Does Samsung manufacture great notebooks and tablets that perfectly compliment one another?

Samsung should focus on letting their products speak for themselves. Constantly comparing themselves to Apple is a sign of insecurity and weakness.

Check the old Apple PowerPC spots and Mac vs. Pc. Comparative advertising was Apples buzz word back then.

I didn’t buy the phone because I like the notch. I’d love it if it wasn’t there. It just doesn’t bother me in daily use of the phone. Also I don’t know anything about the display flickering, I’ve not experienced it or if I did didn’t notice.

It’s one thing to do it when you’re a tiny share of the market. That’s not Samsung. They sell more phones than anyone. They’re not the scrappy underdog.

They are not lying with these commercials...

They are about the “video covered by notch” complaint. If you double-tap to zoom the screen then yes, the video may intruded upon by the top-notch and the rounded corners. If you watch videos normally, they are not effected by the display shape.

The same is true if you use a Samsung phone with their rounded corners and curved displays; watching zoomed video will cut off some information. The unavoidable glare on the curved screen may also interfere as well.

I don’t understand the complaints. You can have it either way.

iSheep, crapple, proprietary, overpriced, marketing hype, 3 year old specs, suicide at Foxconn. Did I just about cover all the hater bullet points?

No, this doesn't work because the sentence isn't thin enough, and it is too wide and broad. There isn't enough to be a hot topic. You need to make it much thinner to be taken seriously and get a warm welcome.

I agree with Samsung about the notch, it’s the only thing, oh well the huge design flaw actually keeping me from upgrading my iPhone 7...

great notebooks? you are clearly living in the past. But at least they don't try to **** with their user by offering 64/256G ripoff strategy where majority of Apple users are screwed with 64G as they can't afford overpriced device or simply don't see any value in it. But stay happy as you obviously are.
