To be fair, these ads cannot have cost much.
Not much to make but they cost a lot to place depending on the placement. They usually run a lot of prime time TV spots so that can be quite a bit.

Make sure you don't half ass it and boycott all Samsung including SSD, DRAM, etc. Billions of people will be thankful prices might come down on the world's best components.

Well since is part of the consortium that just bought Toshiba memory business.
That will be sooner rather than later.

Isn’t the ram on an iPhone by sk hynix anyway?

So which iPhone are you interested in?

Does Samsung make any earbuds as good as the AirPods? Does Samsung offer 256GB (soon to be 512GB) of fast internal storage? SD card speeds are much lower. Does Samsung manufacture great notebooks and tablets that perfectly compliment one another?

Samsung should focus on letting their products speak for themselves. Constantly comparing themselves to Apple is a sign of insecurity and weakness.

I have an iPhone X and Galaxy S7... honestly the only thing I prefer on the S7 is the SD card functionality and music management. It's super nice to just drop MP3s and photos/videos easily on and off with drag and drop onto a card. I don't do cloud storage for my photos, because I prefer to keep my photos private, and my music isn't on online (Spotify/Apple Music). SD cards are great and I'll be keeping my S7 for international travel because the superior music management.

I found this approach wrong. Why aren’t they showing their products but instead focusing only on iphone and dive into a comparison.
Asus did similar humiliating ads for macbook. However, next year they released Zenbook with only one usb c port like the 12’’ macbook they made fun of.

I'm still waiting for the ad where the Samsung user has an issue and goes to the Samsung/Android genius bar or a fix. Ogh wait...

It’s not obsolete because it’s growing, while physical storage for phones is declining.

Again, I’m not saying you need to find cloud storage superior to SD cards, but it would be silly to deny that the tech world is moving to cloud storage.

Is it perfect? No, it’s not. But neither are SD cards. For example, let’s say you rely solely on SD and happen to lose the card or phone altogether. How do you access your data then? They both have their pros and cons and yes, I’m sure there will always be people who will prefer SD. But I’m willing to be they are in the minority.

Mobile networks and public WiFi will continue to grow- that is a fact. As we progress, cloud storage will continue to make more and more sense.

The point of my comment was not that cloud storage is better than physical storage or vice versa. I’m simply stating that the lack of an SD card slot is not that big of a deal these days as cloud storage is gradually replacing it.

Physical storage on phones is declining? 5 years ago Apple still sold phones with 8GB & 16 GB now we are talking about 512GB models. We will go past 1 TB before they start declining back. The cloud goes so far; try accessing your cloud when you have no signal, data, in a foreigh country with draconian roaming charges. It will be a long time before we dont need storage locally and there has to be a reason why SD cards are now available in 1 TB formats and bigger soon - it isn't because no one wants them.

The only thing more cringe than these ads is MR re-telling them in the article.

Mudslinging in advertising is not uncommon (and never has been) between fierce market rivals. Even as an Apple faithful and iPhone X owner, I find these to be hilariously poignant.

Amazing how quickly the I'm a Mac, I'm a PC ads have been forgotten.

Using someone’s trademarked logo without their consent isn’t illegal?

Of course not. It would be illegal to use if they were marketing their products using the logo. Representing it in a fictional scenario while not misrepresenting the product is not an infringement.

Split screen is a rare case use on a phone. Rarely going to be used except by power users who get on the forum and declare how often they use it. Yawn.

Upgradeable storage...that probably used about as much as split screen on a phone.

The notch sucks. But others are adopting it, which is even more tragic.

Every time I hear about the notch "cutting off" video content, it helps convince me that people have next to no understanding of how aspect ratios work.

You either have the notch intruding on the video or you lose screen space shrinking the video. That's why people call the notch screen sizes fake. 5.8" is actually ~5.3" and upcoming 6.1" is really ~5.6", 6.5" is really ~6.0", etc.

If you're watching 19.5:9 aspect video content, this would be true. Problem is, I don't know of any video content in that ratio. The vast majority of content is 16:9, and if you zoomed it in to view full screen, you'd be cutting off more of the top/bottom of the image than you'd lose from the notch.

If you're watching 2.35:1 video content, you can zoom it to as large as possible before the notch affects the image, and you'll still be using a larger portion of the screen than if you were watching the same content on a 16:9 iPhone--that is, the top/bottom bars are much smaller when viewing this content on the X.

What ratio of content are you watching that is being affected by the notch?

Notch is lazy engineering while the holy grail is bezelless no notch screen with embedded sensors. Whoever gets there 1st will be king.

No, lazy engineering would be just abandoning the entire edge of the screen to leave a bezel for the sensors rather than recouping the wasted space in the corners.

The family with the notched hair cuts is a funny and clever spoof. So is multitasking add-on finger nails.

Not quite sure why they use "ingenious" though, I think "ingenuous" would have been a better choice,
because the Apple guy is being "innocently straightforward and frank" about the Iphone.

The Samsung ad posted last week was meh, but all three of these are good. Especially the nails one. Good.

I wish there were a way I could drive up to the Samsung HQ, walk in and meet with the MarCom Director for Galaxy Product Marketing, and with a pleasant, polite smile say, "I don't give a ****...".

As a long time Apple and iPhone user... IF I were to change to an android phone the first one I would cross off the list when deciding is anything Samsung has made. I’m sure that I’m not the only one!

Well, imagine a windows user going to a store to buy a new Mac desktop only realising that all models are outdated... years ago. And they can't be upgraded either, because everything is glued and duck-taped.

Maybe Samsung needs better writers and/or actors. To me the ads come across as snarky, passive/aggressive with the customers already knowing the answers to their questions and just walked into an Apple Store to troll the employee.

Something similar like this one? (Created Apple inc.)

IOS is stable, reliable and innovative.

When you talk about stability and reliability, you should consider the phone as a whole: the phone, the software and apps. When I use my iPhone or iPad and for example get back to the home screen I always think what I did now. did I tap the home button, out of the app, phone, space... or what happened. Then I go to check the log and see - it just crashed. It wasn't me at all. And im sure many times people thinks the same way because (unlike android) the iOS doesn't tell you when something goes wrong.

Or when I have logged in with some app and then change to another app and go back to the original app, I see it is reloading and I need to log in again, because iOS multitasking is so reliable. Or when I just couple days ago deleted couple hundreds of photos from my phone and waited it to sync with my iPad. Well it took only a night to happen. Can I rely on iCloud? No way!

Innovative? Even my dog is more innovative... And he doesn't need few dozens new emojis to make a show.

I do miss my headphone jack on the X, I really do (and if you went back to look at my older posts you would see this has been a constant for me). IDK how split screen would work on something with a smaller screen than the plus, but I would love to try it. Having only ever played with a note, I can say my initial reactions were positive. As far as an SD card slot, I have learned to live without it on iOS. That isn;t to say I would be against its addition, but I can't miss what I never had. The fact that Apple finally bumped their base storage, particularly on the X, is enough for me, for now.
