It’s not obsolete because it’s growing, while physical storage for phones is declining.

Again, I’m not saying you need to find cloud storage superior to SD cards, but it would be silly to deny that the tech world is moving to cloud storage.

Is it perfect? No, it’s not. But neither are SD cards. For example, let’s say you rely solely on SD and happen to lose the card or phone altogether. How do you access your data then? They both have their pros and cons and yes, I’m sure there will always be people who will prefer SD. But I’m willing to be they are in the minority.

Mobile networks and public WiFi will continue to grow- that is a fact. As we progress, cloud storage will continue to make more and more sense.

The point of my comment was not that cloud storage is better than physical storage or vice versa. I’m simply stating that the lack of an SD card slot is not that big of a deal these days as cloud storage is gradually replacing it.
I think it’s a good option to have though. I’m all for options even if I don’t use those options myself.

I also think cloud storage is an excuse that OEMs, particularly google have been using for years for not providing sufficient internal storage on their devices and not including an SD card slot. In apple’s case they do provide enough internal storage.

If you double-tap to zoom the screen then yes, the video may intruded upon by the top-notch and the rounded corners. If you watch videos normally, they are not effected by the display shape.

You either have the notch intruding on the video or you lose screen space shrinking the video. That's why people call the notch screen sizes fake. 5.8" is actually ~5.3" and upcoming 6.1" is really ~5.6", 6.5" is really ~6.0", etc.

Notch is lazy engineering while the holy grail is bezelless no notch screen with embedded sensors. Whoever gets there 1st will be king.

Samsung needs to stop spending money advertising against Apple and start advertising against cheaper Android phones. That's where their competition is eating them for lunch.

I use multitasking all the time on my iPad and wanted it before they announced it, but I've never thought of a single instance in which it would be useful on my iPhone outside of PIP. If they implement PIP for iPhone in iOS 13 then I would be happy. With taller devices such as the iPhone X or X Plus I could see them doing a split screen in landscape—but that is tricky to manage well on a phone. Having two pages open in Safari would be kinda neat but again I really can't think of a time where I wished I could do this on a phone.

It's useful in various instances like feeling out forms that would otherwise have you go back and forward countless times to copy & paste. But it's not some game changing feature.

They are about the “video covered by notch” complaint. If you double-tap to zoom the screen then yes, the video may intruded upon by the top-notch and the rounded corners. If you watch videos normally, they are not effected by the display shape.

The same is true if you use a Samsung phone with their rounded corners and curved displays; watching zoomed video will cut off some information. The unavoidable glare on the curved screen may also interfere as well.

I don’t understand the complaints. You can have it either way.
They didn’t lie because in the ad the Genius said if they didn’t zoom the picture wouldn’t be intruded upon by the notch. Yes on a Samsung phone if you zoom in part of the picture is also cut off but it’s more intrusive on the iPhone X because of the notch.

Anyhow once the X plus comes out I’ll have no need to zoom on videos because the picture will be big enough without zooming.

There are other uses for multi window like having two apps open at the same time. Maybe watching a video and web browsing.

Like... technically... yes? But why would you ever want to have like 30 percent of your video cut off?
It’s because the standard video on the X is too small for me. I wouldn’t have that problem on the X plus.

Considering Samsung is the biggest selling Android device manufacturer, I would say, yeah you're alone in that thought. Lol
It’s great that there are so many choices on android and people can like what they like. However the fact is Samsung are the biggest selling android oem by far so all this shouting about stock android, bloat ware, Samsung ruining android is just silly because most people clearly do not prefer stock android and don’t think Samsung is blotware.

As a long time Apple and iPhone user... IF I were to change to an android phone the first one I would cross off the list when deciding is anything Samsung has made. I’m sure that I’m not the only one!

I have 256 gigs onboard. Anything more needed than that I have cloud storage for. I just got back from a 3200+ mile driving vacation through the U.S. and Canada and I have a boatload of 4k 60fps video and thousands of pictures and so far haven't needed to go beyond the phone. And that's with upwards of 7000+ songs on the thing.
...this is the argument that causes people to call apple fans sheep. Your argument is saying I don't want the option to add storage you are aware of that right? You are not saying why adding a sd card is bad you are saying you don't need the option. I personally prefer the option of adding an SD card. Even if I choose not to use it I see a lot of benefits to it.

SD cards let you have more physical storage for much less cost than Apples prices for highest storage model. Nothing stopping one from using cloud storage for backup.

Apple have never offered SD storage because they don't get the money for the SD storage.

This. I like more options not less options. Even if I won’t use some of them.

Does Samsung make any earbuds as good as the AirPods? Does Samsung offer 256GB (soon to be 512GB) of fast internal storage? SD card speeds are much lower. Does Samsung manufacture great notebooks and tablets that perfectly compliment one another?

Samsung should focus on letting their products speak for themselves. Constantly comparing themselves to Apple is a sign of insecurity and weakness.
You're joking, right? Great notebooks? Earbuds as good as AirPods?

You're only betting $10 on that? The odds are definitely in your favor on that one. I'd bet $100.
I'll take that bet for S10 and S11, ain't gonna happen.

Which is the perfect argument for SD storage. Boatload of extra physical storage for much less cost.

My favourite use of multitasking on Android is to have a YouTube video playing on the top third of the screen and then be doing whatever else I want on the bottom two thirds.

This is portrait mode so you just adjust the size of the YouTube window to be the size of the video and then still have a good sized screen below to work with.
This would be great on super tall displays like the iPhone X.

Wait Samsung is knocking iPhones for not having an SD card slot when Apple offers larger storage options than Samsung offers?

That is true, but it doesn’t change the fact that SD cards aren’t being used as much as they used to be, and it’s due in part to be vast number of cloud storage options available.

Make sure you don't half ass it and boycott all Samsung including SSD, DRAM, etc. Billions of people will be thankful prices might come down on the world's best components.

On iOS a lot of that stuff is just autofilled. I'd be surprised if Android didn't have that. And at least on the iPhone X, swiping back and forth between apps to grab data is way faster than it was before with the new software home button multitasker thing. It's my favorite thing about the X besides the display.

Well Samsung offer 256GB options in Asia and Europe and you can buy 256GB directly from Samsung’s own website in the US.

The Pixel is what an iPhone user would probably go for in Android land. Samsung isn't as quality conscious as Google and Apple are.
