FYI, the sensor on the Ultra is HUGE

S20 Ultra main camera is 1/1.33" or 0.75" diagonal

iPhone 11 Pro main camera is 1/2.55" or 0.39" diagonal

said another way, you can fit almost 4 iPhone 11 Pro sensors into the area of the primary camera on the S20 Ultra.
Sorry but the diagonal is nowhere near 0.75”. Sensors are classified by classes not their actual diagonal dimensions. The actual diagonal on that sensor is at best 0.5”. Apparently the actual diagonal measurement of a sensor is about 30% smaller than it’s rated class.

Where does it end? Someone should do a photoshop mock-up with the entire back of the phone being cameras. LOL

I wish they would do something with the camera array that didn't look so fugly.

Aesthetically speaking....

Front side: Galaxy S20
Although the bezels aren’t equal all around, at least the sides are actually is edge-to-edge.
The front circle camera is much less obtrusive than the notch.

Back side: iPhone
Although not beautiful, it has some nice details around the lenses and looks pro-like
The S20 looks downright garish and ghetto.

Body: iPhone
The stainless steel in the 11 Pro simply exudes quality and the glass backs matte/gloss look better than aluminium IMO.

There’s something always just off looking about Samsung hardware. The way the glass wraps around the left and right edge, but not quite as much on top and bottom — creates this weird lack of visual balance. And looking at the back, the curvature of the edge is, again, slightly different top and bottom than left and right. Just strange. I’m no fan of the notch on the iPhone, but at least Apple knows how to make clean lines.

This Samsung looks absolutely horrible. Is this sarcasm?

How does it look horrible? its a full screen with a back cover, like every other smatphone out there including Apple's.

  • "Galaxy Buds" are a clear and blatant rip off of the AirPods (I'm guessing they were so busy trying to even catch up that they had no time to come up with a more original design)
Did I miss anything?

So what if it is a ripoff? If it does the same and costs me less as a consumer, I should be happy. Corporations have been ripping each other off forever. Don't be surprised if you look back in Apple history and see them doing the same.

Impressive specs, but somehow I don’t see photos looking any better than what the 11 Pro is producing, no difference in daily speed opening apps etc, and the screens won’t look any better than the XDR panel in the 11 Pro. Wireless fast charging, while nice, also degrades battery over time. There’s nothing here to entice an iPhone user, especially with a X or above to jump ship. The crazy thing is Samsung’s mobile flagship sales are plummeting, and they continue to push the prices higher. And no offense, but if 16GB is necessary in your phone, your phone is terribly inefficient. There’s simply nothing the phone does to warrant that kind of RAM when an iPhone 11 Pro excels with just 4GB.

Dude, you actually encourages doing ripoffs? Maybe most people are like you and ONLY care about their wallets staying big. But I encourage being creative and doing R&D yourself.

Their phones are amazing. But the earbuds are just a ripoff.

Samsung continues to make the iPhone look utterly outdated.

Looks can be deceiving!
Galaxy phones age pretty badly and become a sort of useless/worthless after even the first or second year. iPhones do rock major updates straight from the gate for up to half of decade. Which makes me wonder who does who make look outdated.
But credit to be given when credit is due. They look really nice. If they did run iOS it would be my first choice.

wow... I hope the iPhone 12 kicks some behind, because this one looks stunning and features / specs are ridiculous. -Looking forward to change my XS Max to whatever they come up with in september :)

Apple simply cannot make an iPhone 12 or whatever with this same notch and screen. This design is so dated.
The S20 and S20+ are just beautiful. The screen doesn’t look real in some videos I’ve seen. The Ultra is dumb. Who the heck needs to zoom that much!!?

The notch is needed for Apple high level security and payments for Face ID which Is something Samsung still haven’t mastered

Until Apple can fit it in the screen this is what it is....

For me, its still runs Android and I don't like Android.

It could have the best camera on earth but I won't buy it as I don't like Android.

Maybe its my age but I cannot be bothered to spec chase every year now. My Iphone 11 will likely last me at least 3 years before I consider upgrading and even then, I will likely buy the lower version of whatever the latest Apple offering is at the time (i.e. the non pro).

As long as the Camera is decent enough and the battery lasts a full day on moderate use, Apple have got to the point now where little can cause the phone to actually slow so chasing a better processor due to some benchmark results is just a geeky obsession.

no. no it doesn't. you're simply splitting the sensor into smaller chunks which means each pixel gets less light. this results in each pixel being less accurate.
Why don’t we have phones with a 1 pixel sensor?

It’s a difficult choice now. I didn’t like Android years ago when I used it but now iOS is just so annoying.
Hugely buggy with a mail app that still doesn’t work properly.
Perpetual nagging for updates.
No provision for a roll back if things go wrong...,,

Having more megapixels doesn't mean better pictures..

It depends on the size of the sensor.

Look very similar to an iphone without the notch

Why invest the time and energy in a mock up when you have actual products to show?

Edit: @dilbert99 beat me to the Light Camera, so I've removed that image.

well yeah the size of the sensors is a better view who better photos which is why iPhone 12 pro getting bigger sensors is a good thing that as for sure

3 month S10 went from 1099 to 550 resale value

This comment isn't really directed at you, but I've always found it odd that people quote resale value when trying to decide which phone they're discussing if one phone is better than the other. All things being equal, it makes sense to have some concern about that, but it shouldn't be a key focus of how you evaluate which phone suits your needs better.

When you have a lot more pixels, unless you dramatically increase the size of the sensor, you deal with smaller pixels and color bleeding, so no, more megapixels does not mean better pictures unless those pixels are implemented reeeeeeeealy well.

Looks like Samsung's bringing us back to the megapixel wars again in a big way. Total strangers are going to start walking up to you to start conversations by asking how many megapickles you have in your camera.

Next we will go back to judging computers based on storage. "Nice computer! How big is the hard drive?"

I think the pricing problem is a vicious cycle (same with iPhone). Prices increase, so sales fall. Sales fall, so prices go up to keep profits where they were.

Back when phones were £6/700, it wasn't uncommon to see people upgrade every year. You could buy for £700, sell a year later for £350, and repeat. It's hard to justify doing that now given high prices are.
