Nobody have used Bixby so far, whereas Apple has been trying to do something (whatever that something is) with Siri for 5 years now.
And on which universe is S Pay less useful/featured than any other payment solution?

Meant S Voice, not Bixby. Siri is awful as well don't worry there's no doubting that. Nothing in Bixby to say it'll be better than existing voice assistants.

S Pay is pointless with Android Pay being there.

The problem with android phones are the inefficient use of storage. The OS and Samsung bloatware will use close to 12GB. Compare that to iOS. only about 3GB.
Have you ever checked the ram usage of Apps on iOS? Even the simplest apps like newspapers or solitaire grow over time. They'll use more than 1 GB of ram. Even my professional apps on my Mac don't use that amount of disk space and no way to get it smaller then to delete and reinstall it. Don't believe me? Check your apps on iOS. It's ashaming big.

A fingerprint sensor right next to the camera lens? D'oh! Wonder how often people are going to be wiping down their camera lens because they got greasy fingerprints all over it trying to hit the fingerprint scanner.

Don't use the fingerprint scanner since facial recognition is very secure.

Can you not delete (or at least hide) the apps you don't want to use?

As mentioned in the thread, you can. However, I don't know many people who _want_ to use Samsung's offerings, and they should just swallow the fact that right now they are a terrible software company and stick to making premium hardware. If you think Google leaves a trail of unfinished and half-working software in their wake, you should see the half-working stuff Samsung sometimes makes.

Especially for as much as these things cost.

One reason that I am looking forward to Pixel 2. If you note, I have a S7 right now.

The Samsung phone looks like this because Apple's phone will look like this. This phone is the preemptive answer to what they knew Apple has been developing. So don't worry.

2 options I can think about:
Maybe you missed the /s tag or you were living under the a giant rock since the time S7E was launched. Even someone with low IQ could easily see how Samsung have been constantly upgrading their designs after S5. S8 is a result of that process and has nothing to do with iPhone.

You know when the companies run out of "innovations" when the best they can do anymore is make the bezels smaller. Same will hold true for Apple in 6 months.

2017 is calling.

Lol, so that rhetoric implied here is that the future of phones is to carry around a bunch of dongles because you still want to use a pair of $500 studio quality wired headphones with your new 2017 phone?

So far all Apple has done is require every man, woman and child to carry a purse or backpack around full of wires and dongles because of their "courage". When I can't listen to music anymore because my batteries died after only a few hours, that is not progress.

Only when phones reach credit card thickness I might want to trade a headphone jack for something wireless then.

iOS doesn't show RAM usage.

Just makes me even more excited for the next iPhone. Great competition! Can't say I'm blown away by the s8 but it's looking like a really solid phone.

People should not hold their breath for Apple to release a worthy competitor. They'll have some b***s**t excuse for not going bezel-less, or not redesigning the phone. Maybe they'll release a new PREMIUM COLOUR. Maybe it'll be the exact same iPhone but available in ceramic!!!!! COURAGE!

.

There is no Android Pay in my place. And even if it was there, it would be next to useless without using MST.
And having Android Pay doesn't make S Pay useless. I could also argue that Android Pay is useless just beacuse S Pay is there. Having facebook doesn't mean Twitter is useless. I don't know how you could come with that baseless logic.

also - i see samsung trying to ape apple's foray into health...

...getting a doctor on Skype. Really?

I can smell the failure already.
What doctor will give up their time to do this? This doctor will have no information on you, and the main advice given will be "you should go see a doctor". If they do give out real advice what happens if they give bad advice?

Good for lawyers perhaps?

The apps on my phone consume 4 GB of space. Add that to the 3GB for iOS, and that a total of 7 GB. I had the S7 Edge, and had basically the same apps. I was using close to 16 GB with that phone. 16 vs 7. That a huge issue with Android.

Samsung Pay works practically everywhere - including gas pumps - compared to NFC-based payment terminals.

Didn't know that, but is it as secure as Android Pay? Think it'd be easier for all Android users and businesses to be on the one payment service. Plus Android Pay is more recognised throughout the world. I've never seen a Samsung Pay sticker in a shop yet, whereas there are Android and Apple Pay stickers.

How is the home button on the back of the device working out for those that have phones with a home button on the back? It seems to me (as someone who has never used a phone that has a fingerprint sensor/home button on the back of the device) that it would take some getting used to. I guess it's probably muscle memory as much as anything else, though.

I love it. When I pick up the phone it's where my index finger naturally rests and near instantly the phone is unlocked and ready to go. Contrast that to the home button where it's touch, press and wait.

If it's on a table you can swipe up and enter your pin. In the car you can set up smart lock to leave your phone unlocked while connected to BT and then it's a double tap to wake. Once BT is disconnected the screen locks.

That's innovation, something Apple is lacking as of late.

Since when is being realistic 'thrashing'? Have you seen compelling products coming from Apple these last four years?
Who said anyone was being realistic? But to answer your question No compelling products, except for the MacBooks, iPhones, iPads, Apple Watch that in ought and air pods that I just ordered.

Yes it's secure and you don't need stickers it just works unless the store is purposely blocking it. It really is much better than android and apple pay especially in the USA where there aren't many nfc terminals.

Rounded edges are so 1970s. We want phones that can balance on their sides like the iPhone SE, not this silly rounded edges nonsense. Also where is the front facing camera so I can put black gorilla tape over it? There's no way in hell I'm letting a phone scan my iris or take photos of me to login.

Honestly - From 6S to iPhone 7 I was really happy. Loved the Jet Black improved home button, speakers etc.

Samsung did well on this...and i'm real Apple fanboy slightly jealous. Apple NEEDS to blow the iPhone 8 out of the park...otherwise we might see a slight drop in iPhone users...on another note....its hard to leave the echo system if your deeply embedded like myself and i'm sure many others.

Waiting game now.

I'm not impressed. No innovation, same Samsung bloat as always, yawn. I think it looks cheap and ugly too.
Oh mate, is there really nothing Samsung related you don't like, not even secretly a little bit. You know this loyalty you give them is totally one sided , they don't give two hoots for you as an Individual, they only want your green!! End of. Which is sad really, as you so so love them...
