You should be running the DOT, FAA, and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration. They clearly have their collective heads up their asses, whilst you obviously know better than all of them combined.

Yes, they do often have their heads up their behinds.

Learn something about the history of the FAA with regards to their years of ignoring NTSB recommendation about saving passengers from fires.

So my question is how does all of this relate to devices stored in the hold? And have there been any cases of fires from a li-ion device in checked baggage bringing a plane down? Because I honestly hadn't considered that before.

I wish I had one brand new in a box never powered up. 30 years from now it's going to be worth a fortune. Could end up being one of the rarest mass produced products ever.

Soon Samsung is going to blacklist/cripple any leftovers for safety reasons. Adds much more value to a new in box product.
It would probably melt down on its own well before then.

Although I'm an Apple user, Im kinda disappointed that this blog only posts about negative things about Apple competitors. Samsung has announced last night that they'd compensate G Note 7 buyers with $25 credit for other manufacturer's phones or up to $100 for another Samsung phone.
Not that that would relieve the horror this incident may have caused, i really hope Macrumors would give us "balanced" info.
Yes I know this is a Apple-Biased site, but that doesn't mean the journalists should give myopic views to its readers.

There are always people eager to criticize others without doing the investigation or even understanding others.

Yes, this is the hill I'm choosing to die on, but right there you said "celebrating," which is different than "petulant." I think what you're looking for is more like "malicious glee."

But yeah, lots are doing it, and they probably shouldn't, if for no other reason than it's still possible this could wind up with someone dead.

We wouldn't be doing it if it was LG or Sony or some other Apple competitors like that. We're only doing it because of the Samsung's history of making fun of Apple. Not only Samsung itself, but their obnoxious fanboys(paid or not) who constantly attack Apple on EVERY Apple sites.

Another item TSA will be looking for....longer lines?

SO what if someone has a phone, does TSA make them toss it in the trash like all the other things you can't take on a plane??? lol
im sure you don't have to throw it away, you just dont get through lol

Um... Actually, they presented some pretty reasonable arguments there, and I'm feeling pretty convinced. I'm just wondering now what that means for electronics stored in the hold...
I'm not so gullible; I'll take the word of research performed by several agencies/departments funded by hundreds of billions of dollars over some dude on MacRumors. :)

But - I digress - whatever helps you sleep at night.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is not banned when flying South Korea-based airlines, such as Asiana Airlines and Korean Air (as they fear reprisal from the nation's #1 mega conglomerate). It will be interesting to hear their flight attendants announcing the ban on a flight to and from US.

No, I don't care. I have no horse in this 'race'. I'm just observing with a front row seat to the pathetic display of brand devotion on this forum and celebratory attitude for one company's failure.

If anything, the real losers in this case consumers like you since Apple has LESS of a reason to innovate now. So go ahead and celebrate.

Yeah, alright because the iPhone 8 is going to be a pile of poo?! LOL.

I will celebrate, have a great night...

I actually prefer research to be from sources that don't have skin in the game, myself...

Well, let's say some positive things. They had a really nice looking phone once. When they copied the 3GS. And they had a really nice looking tablet once. When they copied the iPad. The UI wasn't that good, but they had a 130 book with improvements. By making it look more like iOS.

lol

Let's see, bladerunner2000 tried to take the high road, despite his entire post history being the very same thing he complains about, except against Apple. kdarling has tried changing the subject with correct but irrelevant facts. now we just need mi7tchy to post links from isolated iPhone fires from 2014 and radon87000 to unironically claim that the Note explodes from "too much innovation" (despite having quite literally nothing about it that's an innovation this year, other than exploding which is admittedly novel) and the circle of life is complete.

Apr 7, 1994, a FedEx Flight 705 made an emergency landing in upstate New York when a fire broke out inside one of the packages in the cargo containers onboard. Luckily the crew quickly landed, and 5 people got off the plane safely before it was destroyed by fire. I don't think they found out exactly what started the fire, but it was from a package. It could have been a battery, or fuel, or something else.

I'll admit I'm a little impressed with the amount of attention you've been paying to the forums here.
