If the iPhone is so incremental, that would open up the door for competition to beat Apple, no?
Hasn't it? Still the reality distortion field (which is now more vacant than ever) means 8% market share, 70% profits.
So phones like the HTC One X are crap too because HTC doesn't make it's own displays? You know who makes Samsung products? China. That's where all the rare earth metals from
No the technology for samsungs diplays is samsungs, they got so much technology that they can afford to sell one type of screen tech to app, high res lcd, and have another for them oled.
So what if Apple didn't make all the apps in the Apps Store? Apple is responsible for providing an SDK that works and a stable ecosystem where developers can have an equal chance to make an app with low overhead costs. Also, providing a smooth OS that people like to use increases the market developers can sell their apps to. It's not like Samsung made their own operating system.
Blackberry does, nokia had a pretty good os but struggled because it couldn't have flash and cpu prices dirt cheap like apple what with it's clout, palm did (and arguably an os superior to ios in quite a few respects) but couldn't face the apple gargantuan monster and went under, and google does. As for the app store, you didn't even get the point. They are providing minor incremental updates to their devices for two years, with tech from other people, they are just putting it together and branding it, devs do so much hard work and sell their devices via their innovation and most (ask any dev and they ll tell you) barely go by while apple touts how much they 've paid them.
And when it comes time to celebrate the gazilionth download, and while you are turning a 50 billion yearly profit, you can't afford to spread around a million (1/50,000 of your profits) to curate a few apps in the app store, to actually give something back to the people who by their efforts they 've put food on the table (each on of them paying you $100 to run your store btw) and made you uber mega filthy rich, but issuing a lottery check of 7,000 (minus their 30% cut)...yeah I would that shows ultra low class...
Progress happens in increments. You would rather they gather up all their 'incremental' upgrades and roll it up as one update in 2014 just so you can call it revolutionary?
Keeping the same phone with a minor fix for the bs you did so it doesn't drop signals anymore, keeping the same design in portables but just fixing the failed latch you had in it, keeping the same design imac without fixing so far the untreated glass (even crts had treated glass) or the poor ergonomics you have for 8 years (the g3 was the last great ergonomics imac), and sticking a high res screen and a couple of cameras on the same design for the ipad, that's not merely incremental upgrades that's the definition of stagnation...
( issuing a much touted buggy and bloated desktop os, all that in two years, offering a cloud service that is inferior to the competition (and in the process disallowing it from use from your previous os that had a version of it that people were paying you for but can't use anymore unless they pay you even more to get the os update), bloating itunes with more and more to make an almost unmanageable sync interface that boggles the mind of most average users...)
Not at all, apple have made it very easy for me. And anyway you missed most of what I 've said. I don't expect you to agree btw, we're posting opinions here, some are more factually based, some have more insight than others, maybe I 've gotten it wrong. I wouldn't think so, but anyway I 'm not trying to convince anyone, whoever gets it gets it, sometimes you get something when the time is ripe, other's never get it.
