Why are so many people buying Samsung phones ... I mean it's designed in Korea ... how uncool is that compared to being designed in California ... I know they are both produced in China (or Samsung maybe in Korea), but still just that fact would make me choose Apple anytime!!!

Whilst I agree to a point, coolness is not the main reason I own a phone (although it does obviously play a part). The iPhone is undoubtedly cool, but the Samsung is so much more customisable, useful, feature-rich and still quite cool so, for me, it's a much more satisfying phone.

In other news... Beep... Beep... Beep...

...not to be outdone the formerly conceived patented iPad mini turns out to be the new patented iPhone 5S featuring a patented larger screen, patented 10 day battery life, patented auto on/off screen via patented finger proximity sensor. Production is expected to be done in China so that Samsung may buy the intel on all the parts they do not already make. Apple's lawyers are ready, but Tim Cook continues to waive a peace flag... ...in other news, it has been reported there has been movement in the graveyard. Some report it's just a strange aftershock, while others say Steve is rolling in his grave.

First smartphone with faster graphics than iPhone 4S

Check out the GLBenchmark 2.1 - Egypt Offscreen graph and Pro Offscreen graphs on Anandtech's Performance Preview of the Galaxy S III:
http://www.anandtech.com/show/5810/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-performance-preview

Notice the iPhone 4S came in second place -- ahead of all the other smartphones.

The Galaxy S III is the first smartphone to beat the iPhone 4S in these two OpenGL graphics tests.

As for "crunch" tests, the Galaxy S III beats the iPhone 4S running Sunspider Javascript test, but the iPhone 4S wins the Linpack Multithreaded linear equation floating point test (131 Mflops vs 102 Mflops). The HTC One X blows both away with a Linpack score of 215 Mflops.

Oh for goodness' sakes. The reviews say that the phone itself doesn't feel big, and I believe it from experience.

It's barely bigger than my Galaxy Nexus, which fits just fine in my hand and any pocket.

It's thinner than the iPhone, and only about 1/2 inch wider and 3/4 inch longer.

there's still people arguing here that s voice is not a siri ripoff? That's great.

My favorite is "how many different ways can your make a mc icon?"

Man some ppl are in denial...

And most of you want a bigger iPhone? See, how freaking ugly it looks and it is NOT even a phone. It is like a mini tablet PC. I do not want to carry that around!

I personally think it'll be interesting to see what the US version of the Galaxy SIII--still limited to the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 CPU chip due to the need to accommodate 3GPP LTE--will do. My guess is that the US version will have a speeded-up CPU with more on-CPU memory cache to minimum the performance loss compared to the quad-core Exynos CPU on the GSM-only version of the Galaxy SIII.

You just implied that a non-Apple device can be as good or maybe even better than an Apple device.
You are truely deluded.
I've just downvoted you!!

So it's only slightly bigger than the iPhone you say? Well then, I guess 3.5" is not that small? :p

You seriously down voted someone because they have different preferences to you?

LOL.

Yikes. Coming from an iPhone user, the amount of insecurity here is ridiculous. Believe it or not, some people want some different.

Well, competition never hurts. I would like to see facial recognition on the iphone as an option to replace the passcode lock, but I feel like having the front camera sensing your eyes like on this phone would use up a lot of battery since it would have to take a picture/video at least every few seconds.

Unless you push the home button to activate it and it times out after a minute or two.

they're not preferences.
they're facts!

P.S. you sound like an android-lover (or as i prefer to call you lot, communists). So enjoy your downvote.

Are you looking at the same photo we are???

yep. look at the measurements. for the screen size increase the actual phone is not that much larger! I love the screen size of my gnex and screen size is the reason I left the iphone. the screen is simply too small for a multi media device! if you say you dont get tired of zooming in on web pages all the time, youre lying!

Samsung updated/upgrades their Galaxy SII (and Skyrocket) with impressive specs all around. Better - pretty much everything. It wasn't a marginal upgrade. And even threw in a bunch of new OS stuff.

I'd say the Galaxy S III succeeded (I'm not talking sales) in being a worthwhile update. It can't be argued. In fact - the differences between the III and the II are FAR greater than Apple's iPhone updates of recent.

There's just so much ignorance on this thread - or some need for people to bash the competition "just because." It says a lot more about the poster than it does about Samsung or the phone.

But again - it's predictable. ANY phone that comes out - Samsung or otherwise is going to get trashed on here by people who haven't used it and more than likely haven't spent more than a casual few minutes with Android. The article is flamebaiting Apple users. There's little reason to have it on this website other than to provoke the kind of thread this has. I salute Arn and his team for inciting the members here.

if you actually look at it, it's not that much larger than the iphone. The only reason I ever left the iphone was due to the screen thats too dern small!

The iPhone is the perfect size for 1-handed operation; my previous phone was a Galaxy S (Epic 4G) and even that was pushing it, it was clumsy to use with 1 hand. I do miss the slide-out keyboard-- but not the rest of that POS.

The iPhone still has a higher resolution screen than the Galaxy S 3. :)

You already said this a few pages ago. Any reason you're repeating yourself? We get it, you're proud of macrumors :p

Well, when the SGS III hits the US in late June for a median price of $199 they will be able to compare it to the iPhone4s or iPhone5 and be able to make up their minds. A phone that has a bigger screen, but is thinner, lighter, and stronger will appeal to enough people to peel off sales on both the iPhone4s and iPhone5. But AAPL has so much cash, it may undercut the price on both iPhones. It should be an interesting summer.

Wow. The SIII looks impressive. Admit it, if Apple made an iPhone that looked like the SIII, everyone would be all over it. Here we are wanting a 4" screen in the next iPhone, while Samsung already has a 5" screen. It's sad that now Apple is the one playing catch-up with Samsung.

So you are assuming that everybody wants a 5" cell phone..............

4" is enough. I'm confident enough to say that most iPhone users don't want a 5" screen. And apple is in catch up mode because is SAMSUNG's turn. It's a never ending cycle. The question is, "Who will be the last man standing in this market years from now?" and "Who makes the bigger profits at the End of the day?"
