And it's only now got features the iPhone 4S had last year, yup good work samsung...STILL playing catch up hahahaha.
After about 500 posts like this all I can say is the immaturity here is embarrassing at times.

I don't usually comment on stuff like this, but seriously, "Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it".

The reason why people say that, is because they remember the past. In this case, the recent past.

Do you not recall the horrified reaction by fanboys to the first leaked pictures of the iPhone 4... and all the comments that "Apple would never, in a million years, make a phone that ugly."

And then the turnaround into praise when it turned out to actually be an Apple design.

It's probably time to repost the infamous Apple Product Cycle :)

Is there a thread somewhere where this happened? I never read one.

Also nice plug on what is probably your friends website!

 My point is you're just assuming something that will never happen and acting as if you've figured it all out. Makes no sense.

That's like me saying "if Samsung came out with siri first, all you silly apple users would say a-voice is a ripoff!" What is the point?

Discuss facts not these ridiculous hypotheticals that make no sense.

Relax. I never said it was a fact or that I figured it all out. It's more of a criticism of some of the responses on this thread. It's okay for Apple to come up with copies of Konfabulator (Dashboard), Android notification bar (iOS notification bar), BBM (iMessage), etc... but as soon as Apple's competitors do something similar, it's unacceptable.

If you want to discuss facts, then we should also delete more than half of this topic's posts...

You must understand that we post comments like this to incite anger in others. Not sure why we do it, but it's clear that it is the reason. Why else would people throw logic out the window and spit out drivel that is doused in half-truths?

Who you kidding? That's his "website." Well, more like a 1995 webpage.

I think it's nice that Samsung is catching up. But all this talk that Apple should "upgrade" its iOS simply because we've seen it for the last 4 phones is idiotic. Interfaces, like dictionaries, should be slow to change. Apple's current rate is perfect.

Apple is way behind with the IOS . IOS always looks the same and boring. At least with Adroid you can expect something different. Thanks

I've said before copying is fine as long as you're not violating patents. Android copies just as much as apple. It's not that big a deal. But let's leave out the implication that if ive came out with this fugly phone (which even Android fanboys think is fugly) that Apple users would love it.

Like i said i could say "if Samsung was Apple, all the Android users wouldn't care about the walled garden! Yeahhh!" It's silly and means nothing, and is a completely pointless thing to post.

Haha yeah i was giving him the benefit of the doubt, but that website looks like it's completely coded in html lol. Old school!

A quick look at page source confirms it was just a good old html webpage...lol. Nice.

I find your lack of knowledge in the basics of interface design disturbing. Oh, that's right. What am I thinking. Since the world revolves around you, it doesn't matter that new customers may be using the product too.

When I first saw the SIII, I thought it was ugly... but it's somewhat growing on me... just like the iPhone4's design grew on me. So we'll see how well it's received over time. :)

And technically, it would be "if Google was Apple..." since Samsung doesn't make the Android OS and wouldn't have anything to do with a walled garden ;) But I digress.... let's both let it go; I think you and I can both agree that 1. Apple makes great phones and 2. a new phone by Samsung will be good for the competition and Apple. Cheers!

Yes, i can 100% agree with that!

nice features. but isn't that starting to get a it too big for an actual phone? some still may wanna fit their phone in their pocket!! 4" is about as big as i'd ever want a phone screen to be but i like the current iPhone size.

Yeah i think four inches would be the sweet spot for phones. But i don't see Apple changing their screen size. We'll see what happens

My skyrocket (4.5 inch screen) fits fine in my pocket. And I am sure when/if Apple changes their screen size - they will be hailed as amazing and wonderful by the members here.

I know adding a new screen size will likely cause issues with scaling and resolution of old apps and such... but I think sooner or later, Apple has to come out with a bigger screened iPhone to stay competitive. From a design standpoint, they may not want to... but at this point, I think the market is dictating what to do and it'd be foolish if Apple didn't follow.

Anecdotal evidence for sure, but even on this board, I've been reading more and more people complaining about the iPhone's screen size. And while most consumers don't care much about specs, the one spec that most laypeople can understand easily is screen size. If every other phone on the market is featuring larger screens, it will just seem like the iPhone isn't as good.

Yeah and when Apple introduced siri, Android users made fun and then created clone apps minutes later. Blah blah.

And now Samsung is including s voice, a completely revolutionary feature

Yeah the only reason i think they won't is because of the "fragmentation" it'll cause. I personally wouldn't mind a4 inch iPhone either.

You, like many others are misinformed. Whether you're defending Apple or Samsung here. The copying this and that issue is hyped up too much here.

Forget whether this or that phone has a said function (messaging, notification, etc) is there or not. You could say RIM copied text messaging for an instant messaging platform. Same for iMessage to BBM. It's that way it's implemented. BBM doesn't include a unified messaging platform that pulls in messages from different sources onto one page. iMessage does. Does Apple use a unique alphanumeric PIN to identify people? No. It's hardly a copy. Same with the notification. Yes, it swipes down from the top but looks completely different.

We have Samsung reacting to the market place rather than making it's new phone unique. A lot of features do bare similar to an almost copying technique. That to me discredits the phone.

Personally, the SIII is too big/clunky to be even classed as a phone. They should trying to cater for the phone/tablet middle market when there's no purpose to serve it. That's this phones big problem. Going in the direction of the Note.

LOL - I think you're actually the one so defensive. I'm only new to Android - but all things point to voice integration being pretty old to Android and newer to iPhone. Developers (not Samsung) trying to monetize on Siri's (bought by Apple originally) hype is exactly that. Developers trying to make a buck or gain recognition.

p.s. neither Samsung or Apple is being REVOLUTIONARY with their voice applications. They are being evolutionary.

Personally, I think the SIII looks (really) cheap, is too big, and will probably be awful to use since it runs Android, BUT I can see why some people will be getting this right away.

I love my iPhone 4S to pieces, and it does everything I want it to brilliantly, but I think it's probably getting a bit dated now.

A major face lift with iOS 6 is needed, and some killer new features, and a bigger screen on the iPhone is badly needed too (but not as big as the SIII....)

Competition is good though! It'll keep Apple on their toes...

You're still on the defensive thing? Geez, must have struck a chord. Ok, I'm the defensive one, you're not...can we drop that now?

Now your statement. It is evolutionary, obviously. It's also apple making it popular and Samsung copying it. What's the issue here?

My problem is with people who want to say s voice is not inspired by siri and foolish things like "they're nothing alike, how many ways can you make a mic icon?"

Everyone copies. Why be in denial about that?

TRUE THAT BUT LETS BE OPEN MINDED

Next generation Apple:

- 4"

Samsung has had That for AGES

4" iphone, ROFL, are people still stuck on "mine is bigger than yours", ROFL, samsung has a gazzilian phones, Apple has 1 with options. They are not going to bring a 4" unless they are about to throw away the buttons.

No 4" unless Apple is going to kill the Retina spec, which I think they will not.

iPhone has one thing that Samsung or other companies don't have, and that is a phone that feels like I want to own it and not a plastic throw away.

Now buy as many bloated android phones as you want I will stick to slick and stylish iPhone 4S with as much metal and glass as I can handle. You hear Apple more metal and glass if you want to keep me happy. :D

I think the concept of the iMessage and BBM are the same. BBM allowed for free messages to others in the BB ecosystem, just as iMessage is used to communicate with others in the iOS ecosystem. And to me, and I own both iOS and Android products, the drop down notification menu looks pretty similar for the most part.

But even if we were to talk purely on implementation, things like the S Voice will probably be running on software based on Google's Voice Recognition system. That would make it different from Siri. And although the UI looks similar, it's different enough in the same sense the notification bar is different enough from iOS and Android. Plus, I can't think of a more logical, efficient way to display the info spoken and confirmed via Siri/S Voice. Form follows function I suppose.

At any rate, I don't think these copies discredits the iPhone or the Galaxy or any other phone. What Apple and Samsung in their respective cases, are following suit with a feature on a market leader or influencer. If they couldn't do that, then there'd be no competition and innovation. The market leaders will just rest on their laurels because they won't feel the heat from competitors.

And in terms of size, I'd agree that the Note is too big to be a phone.. but the SIII form factor has already been around and well received. I'd hardly argue it should be reclassified as phone-tablet/phablet.

At any rate, all that is IMHO and YMMV :)
