It's the tit for tat copying/innovation thing that always goes on between Android and Apple fans.

Apple fan laughs and claim Google copied X for Android without really knowing the history behind the technology, Android fan gets defensive and makes a huge list showing where similar technologies have been used long beforehand shortly before closing out his argument with something like "olol use a real phone iSheep", then some guy posts up a picture of the Samsung Store and a , and it goes on from there.

It ebbs and flows like a river, man.

Yep it's true. Copying is going to happen always. Apple copied notifications, Android copied folders, Samsung copied svoice, apple copied something else.

I just find it stupid when Android users try to deny that blatant copies are not copies. Yeah, like it's just pure coincidence that the sgs3 has svoice. Or pure coincidence that every oem in the world suddenly wants to make tablets.

You don't have to be the inventor of something to be the one who brings it to the mainstream..

The denial is stupid. Just own what's happening.

I agree - everyone needs to stop being in denial. Apple, Microsoft, Android, Google, Nokia, etc fans alike. All guilty.

It's stupid for ANY user to deny history. It's also ignorant.

Jobs said in 2007 when iPhone was shipped that this phone is 5 years ahead of its time... right again.

Something we can agree on lol. Yep, cues are taken from each company by each company. I'll never understand why ppl have to pretend they are not!

Denial is stupid on both sides. Don't pretend that apple fanatics don't deny that any elements were copied from android. Like you said, notifications is one of the more obvious examples.

It's all dumb and I use both OS's.

Im an apple and samsung user and i like the design. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Sometimes substance will win over style

That door swings both ways. Samsung obviously aped a bit from Apple, a fact which any hardcore Apple fan is more than willing to point out (over and over again). Bring up the iOS 5 notification center, and you'll get all kinds of lame excuses as to why it isn't even remotely similar to the Android setup.

It's definitely a pot vs. kettle type situation.

I hope if Apple does increase the iPhone screen size it is taller (like the previous mockup seen today). All of the larger LCD phones I've handed feel too large to me, but that's just my personal feelings. To each their own! Either way this gives Apple something healthy to compete against. :D

I hope its wider and taller, just taller doesn't look that great and would feel weird in the hand I feel. I think they should increase the width a little to keep the same aspect ratio.

There is nothing new under the Sun!
The point is that......The 1st one is a genius but the 2nd one is a dog!

And the reality is.....Winner is God but loser is also a dog!

It does swing both ways and the notification thing is Apple fans being in denial. I agree. However, in my experience I've seen Android fans make up far more silly excuses then apple fans.

I'm a shareholder so obviously I'm biased but it gets under my skin when ppl try to say Android tablets would have come out eventually and apple didn't invent tablets. No, they didn't invent them, but they invented the tablet market. Same with this svoice thing. No one cared about Google voice actions before siri, now suddenly an oem is baking an "assistant" (samsungs words not mine) into the os and we're supposed to believe that it's not a siri ripoff? Please...

How does it not compete with the 4s? It can do everything the iphone does and a lot more. Plus the hardware on it is incredible.

because the iPhone is much smaller (less space for Hardware)... and S3 much much bigger (much bigger space for Hardware).

Dude... do the math..

iPhone with that Size would ********** blow it out of the water.

Plus even the screen isn't as good as on the iPhone. i believe it's 480 by 720?

and the iPhone is 480 by 960 is i remember correctly

This is actually the first non-Apple phone that made me take a second look since the iPhone !

I like the LARGER SCREEN, CURVED BODY (that fits better in the hand than the boxy iPhone), and I like the option for PEN INPUT very much.

Are you listening Apple ?

In my experience - die hard fans are die hard fans no matter what. So I don't agree that Android fans make up far more silly excuses. They are all equal in my opinion.

Further - how can you make the statement that no one cared about google voice actions. Maybe you and I didn't... but I imagine that many android early adopters and through siri and even now care(d) a boatload. All they are doing is really changing the name. Instead of calling it voice actions - they are calling it an assistant. Similar/same product - new name. So who cares really? It's not a ripoff. The fact that you use the word ripoff says much about your position - stockholder or not.

You are wrong. Look at the S3 specs again. You are VERY wrong.

I'm not going to argue with you about this at it appears you may be in denial. Let me just say, if you believe that the fact that no oem took advantage of the readily available voice actions to incorporate it into the os until apple introduced siri is just pure coincidence or natural progression, then there's going to be no convincing you otherwise!

Dude...do the math too...The S3 has a 1280 x 720 screen!!

sidenote: 800+ posts on a Apple forum......about a Samsung smartphone ;)

Like Innovation, Copying also requires skills.

Who cares? No OEM really had to do it because Google's voice commands were already pretty darn integrated within the OS anyway. That's why no OEM really felt the need to. Samsung wants to brand their own version ahead of other ANDROID manufacturers. Sometimes I think people just assume it's Android vs iOS when in reality - most of the time it's Android vs Android.

Why do you get so upset. We're having a discussion, calm down. No one probably really cares, but it's the discussion we're having. Like i said, you appear to think that this svoice joke had nothing to do with siri, which is cool. I don't need to spend my day teaching you why it does.

You've made your mind up and that's fine, no one is gonna be able to convince you otherwise. Just stop getting so upset if someone disagrees with you.

most of the time people keep arguing Android vs iOS, maybe both of them finally are the Winner!

I've been using Apple products for years and would love to get an iPhone. But I simply can't bring myself to lock into a 2-yr contract in a phone without the latest technology. The iPhone 4S is already dated, think about how bad it will be in 2014.

Unless Apple comes out with a phone at WWDC in June that has LTE and a larger screen, I will buy either this SGIII or the HTC One X.

My Sony Ericsson T610 had voice control... I don't think anyone was waiting for Apple for voice actions, they've been worked on for the greater part of the last decade.

Maybe you mean natural language processing ?

I also take exception to the whole "Android is a blatant copy of iOS!" speech. Android is Android. Its design philosophy and many components are quite different from Apple's implementation of iOS. Aspect which are similar come from mostly other, older platforms that were around pre-iPhone.

Also, a lot of people say "Android" and then go on to talk about handsets. Android is not a handset. Another point I take exception to.

You know what i meant, we can nitpick more if you like.

You remind me a lot of a poster that was banned from here. You keep insisting that I'm upset. I'm not. I'm at my desk here at work smiling and enjoying my day and reading this thread. I never said svoice had anything to do or not to do with siri. But feel free to put words into my mouth (or posts) if it makes you feel better.

Clearly no one's going to convince you or anyone else on this thread anything other than what they believe. Disagree with me all you want. But again - don't keep making the stupid and ignorant assumption that I'm upset about it. It just make you look like you're trying to pick a fight.

Now go ahead. Reply back and tell me how upset I still sound and how I need to relax LOL

I would agree.. They are both THE competition to "beat."

No, I didn't know, hence why I'm asking if you meant "Natural language processing". Because that would make sense. As far as I know, Siri is the first implementation of natural language processing on a cellphone for actions.
