I have to disagree, but then I am concerned about functionality and quality more than aesthetics.
Sorry, your reply got lost in the huge and noisy cat fighting that has been going on for nearly a day now. It's a little late but here it is...
Fair enough. My personal opinion is that, overall, the iPhones quality and functionality is superior. I wouldn't change much to how Apple presents additional pages in the homescreen, however, they can stand to make some tweaks. Page one definitely can stand the addition of widgets somewhat like the Android (although maybe with eating up less screen real estate). I wouldn't even add the silly old fashioned looking chronometer clock, just a simple clock like the lock screen with weather and other options (maybe separate out the current weather and forecast so the notification center shows forecast and home screen shows current weather). Hell, even if the weather app showed the temperature on the icon in real time,
that would be an improvement!
The lock screen could use some improvement as well. Right now, if I want to glance at the weather, I have to unlock my phone and pull down the notification screen. Why can't I just wake up the phone and glance at it without unlocking? I'm not always in a position to do more than slip my phone out of my pocket and glance at it. It would be nice if I could see the weather (and/or forecast) among other things without unlocking. Someone in this thread posted a neat mockup of what the lock screen could look like. Didn't appear to change the function or quality significantly, but did add a lot to the aesthetics and usability.
These are just some minor (and, I would assume, relatively easy from a coding perspective) tweaks to make that would not take away (and even improve) the quality and function while at the same time improving the aesthetics.
Believe me, I am a big believer in the old adage "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" I wouldn't be asking for these if I thought it was change merely for the sake of change. I just think the first page of the home screen and the lock screen could use some updating.
Ok, so that was probably more than you wanted to read, but there it is.
