Right. Galaxy 3 managed to be the same width as Galaxy 2 (sprint) because of the better use of bazel and change in screen ratio. iPhone screen ratio is very inefficient on terms of use of real estate: huge wasted space on the top and the bottom.

And check this: Galaxy S3 is a bit lighter then iPhone while offering much bigger screen, much bigger capacity battery and twice more RAM.

So if you want small phone you get iPhone.
Midsize: Galaxy S3
Large: Galaxy Note

Popular is a stretch... I have a hard time seeing something as popular when the comments I hear in person about it are 4/1 negative. Anyways, I guess Android made notifications popular then, shame Apple couldn't come up with their own, better implementation.

While i love anecdotal evidence, it doesn't mean anything. Why? Cuz i can just pull something out off my butt too: the comments i hear in person about siri are ALL positive!

So which one of us is lying? Hard to prove because we're both saying pointless stats.

Anyway, by popular i mean mainstream so even if no one likes it, everyone knows about siri and voice integrated things like this because of apple (before the literalists go crazy, i don't mean "every single smartphone user in existence")

Is Android popular? If so, why? Same thing with siri. To deny it's popular is even more silly then denying samsung didn't copy siri with s voice.

And did Android make drop down notifications popular? Of course they did! The only people who would deny that are the same type of people who would deny that apple made tablets and voice recognition apps popular!

Because people want good alternatives, not lesser products based off a "me2" design. This isn't competition. A lesser product for the same price? Puuuleeeeze [black female version].

Heh. Got knee jerk reaction much? I think you need slowwwwly re-read what I wrote. Oh, and BTW, yes, yes, it is a competition between Apple and Android and every Android phone maker vs. every other Android phone maker. What this isn't is the Smart Phone Hunger Games.

I should've been clearer. Android phones aren't much of a competition for iOS phones. They are trying (and failing) to compete. Their phones are so inferior, even if it were given to me for free I'd pass it up.

To work off your Hunger Games reference. Apple has nothing but careers and Samsung is working with cherry pickers, farmers, and a miners.

Samsung needs to look up the definition of innovate again and realize it means to make changes to what is established [as good]. Their additions are nothing more than catching up to what is established [as good].

I think it is too big. Pack those features in a 4.0", maybe 4.3" and maybe I would be sold.

My HTC One X is also too big, and it's about the same thickness and weight as the S3. Little things start to really piss you off, like pressing the power button at the top then moving your hand all the way down to the unlock ring. Or constantly hitting the volume buttons while repositioning my hands. Maybe they tackled this problem more elegantly than the One X.

The 2100 mAh battery is only 300 mAh more than the HTC One X, which I can only get about 3 hours of use out of before having to recharge. The One X also has the Tegra 3 companion core which uses very little power while asleep. I'm having a hard time believing that their fab process has netted more power gains than using a 500mhz companion core. Also, the HTC One X doesn't have this eye tracking, voice assistant stuff either.

It's a neat, but since having a 4.7"er, I can easily say, I don't really care how fast are awesome it is, I just couldn't use it as a phone. Put better hardware in the note and sell it as a micro tablet instead of a phone!

(for clarification I wouldn't use the note as a phone, just a tablet)

Probably from any company that's had a retail store, ever.

Jesus Christ. MacRumors members can just be utterly crazy sometimes. Bizarre.

LOL! Apparently Apple invented the retail store ... DUH! Did you not get the memo?

Silly me! This thread really does show the most intolerant, ignorant and petty of the MacRumors fraternity. I can only wish I had my life so in order that the release of an Android competitor to the iPhone elicits real, palpable anger and resentment.

You mean the way Android users do the same with iPhone releases? What's with the one sidedness? Apple has been going to fail for about two years now according to the Android group. Both sides have fools.

You're essentially excusing the behaviour "because Android fans do it too", and that does nothing but perpetuate the silliness and immaturity.

This isn't a playground, so I'll stick to the topic as posted - I don't need to berate both sides, as a mother might two brothers caught fighting. You're essentially excusing the behaviour "because Android fans do it too", and that does nothing but perpetuate the silliness and immaturity.

Huh? Excusing what behavior? Both sides who do this are fools. How is that excusing anyones behavior?

What you're doing is ignoring one groups behavior as if the Apple fools are the only fools.

Am I the only one that wants a smaller iphone? A 3.5" phone thinner, lighter, and with a smaller bezel than the current iPhone. Maybe use a 32mm single core A5 like the new apple tv to cut down on battery size. Anyone who doesn't play graphically intensive games would be better off trading performance for size.

Are you writing that with a straight face?

Here is the Jan '12 Quarter Android v. iPhone sales: http://goo.gl/XFMzg. This is the first full quarter with the iPhone 4S -- Apple best selling iPhone ever... by far.

If you notice Android still has a higher market share so to say Android phones aren't much competition for iOS phones is just plain ignorant. I don't personally like Android phones, and I think the 4", and especially 4"+ ones are comical, but each to their own. Choice and competition is good for everyone, and it's safe to say each OS has "borrowed" from the other. And Apple brorrowed from Palm and Palm borrowed from Apple who borrowed from Xerox who on and on....

Ultimately, they are frickin phones. Whatever phone you love today will be forgotten when the next new model comes tomorrow. Go buy your best girl some flowers just for kicks and tell her how amazing she is and lucky you are. Those are the things that are hard to replace and actually matter in life.

There are also thousands more McDonalds than there are 5-star restaurants. Marketshare, if you will, doesn't imply much. Not sure why people have a hard time admitting that iPhones are the superior product.

If this forum were called anything other than "MacRumors" I may think you had advice worth considering. But we are here to talk technology, specifically, how disappointed many of us are with Samsung for failing to bring anything better to the table. I personally would like to have an alternative to the iPhone, but my choices are limited because most just suck. Simple as that.

B-b-but I'm in love with Siri :(

QFT

or to put in in another way:

Go outside. The gfx are awesome and the surround sound is just *amazing*!

I can't see why people define themselves over a mobile communication device...

correct me if I am wrong, but isnt that what Apple preys on and how they have become so big? It is a statement about their life using an apple product.

Are you high? Android has been using voice actions for years before Siri came along. Not to mention cloud services have been used with Android since 2008. Everything else I do give it up to Apple. I'm not a fan boy of either OS, but look at the facts before you start posting.

Your insults are cute, but wrong. Apple also had "voice actions" before Siri, but comparing the two is like saying writing with a pen is the same as finger paints because they both use touch. Siri was the first "voice assistant," or a mechanism you actually talk to, instead of speaking one of 15 commands slowly. "Siri, can you remind me tomorrow at noon to call my mom" is a lot different than "play The Killers." Samsung didn't release a voice action system, they released a voice assistant that is literally the same thing as Siri, and if you can't see that, then you must be on something. Try saying "remind me tomorrow to call my mom" on any Android phone and nothing substantial will happen. In fact, I just did it on my SGSII and it Googled the phrase.

if you say you dont get tired of zooming in on web pages all the time, youre lying!

I don't and I'm not - because I use my iPad for browsing. ;)

3.5" screen or 4.5" screen, it doesn't really matter. Neither is big enough for a good browsing experience. I'd rather have a phone that fits comfortably in my pocket (and hand) than carry around a device that is too big to be a phone and too small to be a tablet.

Well, demographics and market share analysis are not that far off...

A tethered BJ? Dare I ask?

In all seriousness, how's the 5.1 jailbreak working for you?

lol.. its great.. 5.1 is much smoother than 5.0.1 and the JB is a semi tethered one so you can boot and use basic calling and texting but all JB features will requite a boot up with redsnow..

I think some people have a hard time admitting something they don't believe is true. "superior" is in the eye of the beholder. Not everyone has the same use case or requires the same from a phone. You can argue specs - but Apple wouldn't measure up. You can argue OS - which then becomes quite subjective. So how do YOU determine which is superior. Because it might not be the same to person x, y and z.

Why do people have a hard time admitting that everyone is entitled to the best experience and equipment for their needs. Why do people have a hard time accepting that not everyone is like THEM.

Answer that and you'll have done a lot on THIS forum :)
