Yeap thats what i told my friends! Since apple didnt release a new redesign iphone. Samsung couldnt came up with a better design.

So they went and try some fugly on their own lmao. Good try sam, but im sure once apple release something new u will see them copy on their next gen product.

Or their next every 2 months new gen samsung galaxy s3 2.0 with the next android firmware anyone?

True story bro!

I can almost guarantee we will see the iPhone 5 look alike 3 months later when Samsung releases their 'version' and then all the Apple haters will defend it.

Samsung opening up retail stores is way too late to the party. At least Microsoft started in 2009, they might have a chance. Starting in 2012 - forget it.

What????

so everyone should "forget" opening a retail shop ever again simply because Apple have 300 or so shops?

Apple only have shops in 20% of countries in Europe for goodness sake! 5 shops in the whole of China; none in most of Asia..yep you're right, no point any more!...the whole world is a lock-out!

A lot of people seem mad here. We should all use what we like and have a choice. I have an iPhone 4 and I agree that the GS2 is a perfect size, though i'm also using a Galaxy Nexus and after a short time, i've gotten quite use to it and find it to be amazing. Just saying..

Even larger screen, to the point of being uncomfortable. And ripping off Siri.

People need to remember that Apple bought its way into Siri and a third of the iPhone is Samsung parts.

But yeah, the Samsung is fairly ridiculous and half the "features" are going to be a lame copy of Apple's.

FWIW I'm glad I went with the HTC One S.

The NFC stuff looks incredible, Google + Samsung = Driving the smartphone industry forwards.

There are also thousands more McDonalds than there are 5-star restaurants. Marketshare, if you will, doesn't imply much. Not sure why people have a hard time admitting that iPhones are the superior product.

If this forum were called anything other than "MacRumors" I may think you had advice worth considering. But we are here to talk technology, specifically, how disappointed many of us are with Samsung for failing to bring anything better to the table. I personally would like to have an alternative to the iPhone, but my choices are limited because most just suck. Simple as that.

And yet, both McDs and all those 5-stars co-exist very nicely. So I'm lost on your point. Look, do I think the iPhone is a better phone? Absolutely. It's why it's been the only cell phone I've owned since June 29, 2007 It meets my desires in a smartphone very perfectly. But is it perfect for everyone? Apparently not. That is where Android phones come in. If you don't like the iPhone then look there. If you don't like the Android offerings, sorry, you might just be too damn picky. Again, it's a phone. Pick one. It's not a life changing decision.

B-b-but I'm in love with Siri :(

Ha. Ha. Big Bang Theory. That was a classic episode.

It is a ONE horse race

If you look for a phone with:

- the 4 normal 3G bands
- memory card slot
- radio
- at least 960 pixels of resolution

I only find the SIII and the Note.

Why??? Samsung is getting more and more popular all around the world so i dont see your point.

So with 4 cores running at 1.4 GHz, will this Samsung phone finally be able to change from Landscape to Portrait (or vice versa) at a reasonable speed - and maybe have smooth scrolling in its web browser? Or do we need an Octocore Processor for that?

I find myself often taking a shower and go for a haircut and the Orientation on my Galaxy Note still hasn't changed when i flip it over to play a video... Wy wife hates that on her GSII as well. :p

I think you should return your Note. It sounds defective. I have the Skyrocket and the orientation turn is instantaneous. The web browser also is quite fast.

You might have a defective phone.

WOW!!!! I love this phone!!!
I've been looking at videos on youtube where people have been doing a first look and walk through, and this phone is absolutely amazing!!!!

Must have functions that others will copy:

Pop-Up Play - Picture in Picture on your phone. Watch a video and continue to watch while you answer a text. Sweeeet!!

SmartStay - Eyetracking so the screen doesn't dim while reading. Or screen doesn't switch orientation when lying down. Genius!

S-Beam - More advanced version of Android Beam. Very smart to fine tune Android Beam.

Direct Dial - You message, you decide to call instead, just put the phone to your ear and voila, the call is made. So So Sweet!

Social Tags - Facial recognition software that will recognize faces in your gallery to those in your contacts and thus to social media. Extremely cool and interesting. Can't wait to see this in action.

Also glad to see Samsung continues to make a removable battery (2100 mAh!!!) and SD Card expansion. THANK YOU!!!!

Best of all the phone is not that much bigger than the S2, but it is thinner. Everyone in the videos that have used the phone say it's gorgeous and very nice to hold. CANNOT WAIT ANY LONGER!!!! I WANT THIS PHONE NOW!!!!!

Here's a quick walk through video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUfTAyrtS_4

Did anyone notice how S-Voice sounds more human than robotic like siri? Compared to S-Voice, Siri sounds like a female version WOPR from WarGames.

Unless Apple pull something amazing out of it's bag of tricks with the next iPhone, I guess this is what phone I'll be getting this Summer

Feature wise it's nice, what I really like is how Samsung are trying to incorporate gestures into the device.

However, the white version looks like a toy, and admittedly I think it's one of Samsungs weaker designs, but it's still pretty how they've incorporated a bigger screens without doing anything dramatic with the size. The comparisons I've seen place it slightly longer then the S2, but not by much.

Apple take note!

Hard to argue the S3 isn't a generation ahead of the 4s. This is probably similar to what Apple intends to do with their next phone, but I can't see them using an oled screen (better in the light), a screen that large, or support hdmi out.

Of course, hardware only matters after you have a convenient interface in software. Apple still has a closed system to work on, so they should be better, but Android appears to have made big strides.

I think the width should be OK. Height can be disregarded.

Well, the Note fits. So now to wait for a Note with:

- microSDXC
- Bluetooth 4.0
- unbreakable screen

Let's keep the standard SIM.

This S3 size seems a little more manageable to me.

I do like the stylus idea though. Jotting a note down is convenient...or marking up a picture or document.

Phones are too breakable for the moment, and the iPhone 4 and 4S are, by far, the worst. Can't tell you the number of broken screens I've seen.

The iPhone 4 and 4s are good looking, but given their price, durability should have been a bigger concern.
